A Night of Conscience

Comedians Mark Thomas and Mark Steel, composer Michael Nyman, actress Janet Suzman, film director Ken Loach, playwrights Caryl Churchill and David Edgar, musician Ed Harcourt, fashion designer Vivienne Westwood, Iraqi novelist Haifa Zangana, Walter Wolfgang, chair of CND Kate Hudson, Lindsey German, John Rees and many others from film, stage, television and politics will appear at this benefit concert to raise funds to help pay Malcom Kendall-Smith's legal costs, imposed on him when he was sent to jail for refusing to serve in Iraq.

PIkey, you're damn right, though I'd like to hear what Ken Loach thinks about things, I still have respect for him unlike all those gatekeepers he's listed with above. |

It's frustrating. I look at it like this. I come across several groups every week who are doing fantastic work and wish I had the time to learn about what they are doing and find some way to support them. But I never do because there is only so much I can handle. A group such as Stop The War have so much information to digest and many events and meetings to organise. They are Stop The War they are not the Truth Movement, it would be useful to have their contacts and support but it is down to us to establish ourselves.
The event if nothing else, could be a time to distribute flyers with the next meeting dates. |
