energy weapons

some years ago i heard a story on tv
that in vietnam the americans had a energy weapon mounted on a helicopter
as a experimental weapon i think they said it was a microwave (not sure about that)
but i do remeber seeing soilders on tv saying that people just caught fire
with no shots being fired or any noise then a helicopter flew past them

anyone else remember this story or anything about it
