I've tried to contact Sheffield IMC from all perspectives and am now just awaiting their reply
Having checked back on the website I can see no obvious precedent, though the Matilda squat is obviously a good issue which will offer a redolence to some people here and is currently under fierce legal attack
I guess there'll be some response sometime
In fact, I still wonder why they can advertise a showing of Improbable Collapse when I haven't received my copy yet |

Quote: | Everyone involved with the Sheffield Indymedia collective is behind the screenings and so is the Matilda collective - there has been a supportive response from lots of activists in the anti-war movement and elsewhere.
One potential problems is that Matilda might have been evicted before the screenings take place see: http://www.indymedia.org.uk/en/regions/sheffield/2006/06/342878.html. There is however a backup plan of a venue around the corner... |
Hooray - everyone who's had dealings with UK imc in the past 5 years could feel a shudder of relief that at least a part of the indymedia is behind this, and lots of activists in the antiwar movement
Thanks to Chris here, who has offered me a stall for my stuff here, and can we get him a good quality copy of Everybody's Gottta Learn Sometime pretty quick? |

As you and I know, dh, Indymedia have treated 9/11 activists like pariahs. Last year, a handful of people carried out an action on Indymedia UK, bringing it to its knees one Saturday by flooding its newswire with image posts on 9/11 which partially circumvented the effects its hiding of articles. The action spread to a limited global scale by the end of the day and having been a Greenpeace Marine Division activist, I can say this was the most effective fun I have had without leaving my desk - well apart from nipping to the shop!
This is an outstanding breakthrough! |

I handed out a hundred or so flyers that included your Sheffield event image aswell as posting up a few posters this weekend down in Devon. With any luck some tourists from your area may pick up on them. Sounds a great event and hope it works well. _________________ The Peoples United Collective TPUC.ORG
