Since cannabis was downgraded to Class C the police have been forced to concentrate their efforts on busting crack and heroin dealers. But they don't like doing this since they get higher quality intelligence from heroin and crack dealers and also these drugs are extremely socially divisive in Britain's poorest communities.

Because the police are so reluctant to bust crack and smack dens arrest targets, which as we know drive all police behaviour, haven't been met. The response of the ACPO high masonic council? Upgrade cannabis to Class B so we can start arresting cannabis users again.

Have a listen to the podcast all about it here

How transparent and how pathetic.

Police 'unequivocally' support reclassification of cannabis

Heard a bit of the debate on R4 this morning.

Apparently since the drug was downgraded usage has dropped as it has been for the past few years. Funny that, I remember a senior police officer saying how usage had 'exploded' after the downgrading, guess he was lying.

None of the interviewees managed to present and sensible reason for upgrading the classification.

I just spent some small time in Amsterdam, and returning to this country was like returning to a miserablist Nazi state. Never mind that when I was travelling out there some airport security guy decided to frisk me. Well that has sexual inuendos but when he accidently flicked my c*** - well you know the only reason I was a suspect was because I was flying
This was severely invasive stuff for no more reason than being an airline passenger
Anyway there's absolutely no reason why the UK drugs policy should be like it is other than to create harm, and eventually support "our boys" efforts in Helmand to support those growers and processors who are sympathetic to the West and want to flood our streets with cheap smack
That's the whole summation of the Afghanistan op.
Once Afghani hashish was the best in the world
Now it's totally given over to opium growing under British jurisdiction
