What Can We Do? Media Action Plan for Individuals
Hello: (I hope you announce this concept on the air or post it somewhere that people can see it easily. Thanks.)
Yesterday afternoon a woman called and said what can she and others do? Here are some ideas:
#1) (Obviously) Support all Pacifica Networks like KPFA with time and money AND email others about listening to non-corporate media.
#2) Non-violent direct action via phone.
Bombard corporate news media with phone calls.
How? Go to Fair.org - click on Activism, click on Media Contact List.
We can either do this strategically or randomly - just do it daily.
Call all news programs and share with them the stories you want covered and why - AND keep calling! Lets jam their lines.
If strategic lets all call at same time:
Week of 3/17 - ABC World News
Week of 3/24 - CBS Evening News
Week of 3/31 – PBS NewsHour with Jim Lehrer
Week of 4/7 - NBC Nightly News
Week of 4/14 – CNN News
You can also call all the morning shows news departments: ABC Good Morning America and NBC The Today Show. You can also call newspapers.
#3) CALL INTO TALK RADIO (local and national) – its free. When you call say on the air in advance… I have a comment and a question, that way you can usually get your comment in first. Write down what you want to say so you can keep it short and to the point.
