Quote: | Victims of the 7/7 bombings allowed to quiz MPs

Victims of the 7/7 bombings have been allowed to ask MI5 67 questions in a major victory in their fight for an inquiry.
The group have won unprecedented access to the Intelligence and Security Committee of MPs who monitor MI5 after their report into 7/7 left several questions unanswered.
The ISC agreed to take questions on what MI5 knew after it emerged two of the bombers were helped by a terrorist who is now on trial in Canada.
A group spokesman, who hopes for answers by the end of the year, said: "We're not going away." |

7/7 bombing victims seek answers in Parliament
Martin Bentham, Home Affairs Editor
Evening Standard 19.03.08
Victims of the 7/7 London bombings have submitted more than 60 key questions to Parliament in a fresh bid to establish the full facts about the attacks.
The questions were handed to the Intelligence and Security Committee, which is conducting a new inquiry into what was known about the 2005 bombers, at an unprecedented meeting.
They follow revelations last year during the trial of terrorists who plotted to blow up the Bluewater shopping centre and London nightclubs that there were links between them and two of the 7/7 Tube and bus bombers, including ringleader Mohammad Sidique Khan. The requests for information include:
• Full details of the surveillance of Omar Khyam, ringleader of the Bluewater plotters, when he met Khan in Crawley in 2004.
• Why did the links between Khyam, Khan and Shehzad Tanweer, another of the London bombers, not lead to further efforts to establish the identity of the two future 7/7 attackers?
• When were the names of Khan and Tanweer first recorded in official documents?
• Why did the Home Office describe the bombers as "clean skins"?
The Government, MI5 and police continue to insist that the full facts about what was known about the bombers have already been disclosed.
Meanwhile MI5 is to open more regional offices in the wake of 7/7. An expansion to towns in the Midlands and North comes with a big increase in manpower to monitor extremists.

Are these questions available in any public forum where we can get access to them?
67 questions is rather a lot? Have they been reading this site I wonder? |
