9/11 Commission Report
Many well known and respected professors have expressed significant criticism of the 9/11 Commission Report. Several even allege government complicity in the terrible acts of 9/11. This section is a collection of their public statements. This website is not an organization and it should be made clear that none of these individuals are affiliated with this website.
Listed below are statements by more than 230 professors that contradict or are critical of the 9/11 Commission Report. Their collective voices give credibility to the claim that the 9/11 Commission Report is tragically flawed.
These individuals cannot be simply dismissed as irresponsible believers in some 9/11 conspiracy theory. Their sincere concern, backed by their dedication to researching and teaching the truth about a wide variety of subjects, demonstrates that criticism of the Commission Report is not inherently irresponsible or illogical, and that, in fact, it can be just the opposite.

"The impact of the planes cannot have caused enough damage to bring the [World Trade Center] buildings down, since the buildings were designed to withstand them (as Frank De Martini, the project manager, has observed), the planes that hit were very similar to those they were designed to withstand, and they continued to stand after those impacts with negligible effects. ...
WTC-7 came down in a classic controlled demolition at 5:20 PM/ET after Larry Silverstein suggested the best thing to do might be to "pull it", displaying all the characteristics of classic controlled demolitions: a complete, abrupt, and total collapse into its own footprint, where the floors are all falling at the same time, and so forth, an event so embarrassing to the official account that it is not even mentioned in THE 9/11 COMMISSION REPORT.
[Editor's note: WTC Building 7 was 610 feet tall, 47 stories. It would have been the tallest building in 33 states. Although it was not hit by an airplane, it completely collapsed into a pile of rubble in less than 7 seconds at 5:20 p.m. on 9/11, seven hours after the collapses of the Twin Towers. However, no mention of its collapse appears in the 9/11 Commission's "full and complete account of the circumstances surrounding the September 11, 2001 terrorist attacks." The hit point at the Pentagon was too small to accommodate a 100-ton airliner with a 125-foot wingspan and a tail that stands 44 feet above the ground; the kind and quantity of debris was wrong for a Boeing 757: no wings, no fuselage, no seats, no bodies, no luggage, no tail! Which means that the building was not hit by a Boeing 757. ...
There are more, especially about the alleged hijackers, including that they were not competent to fly the planes and their names were not on any passenger manifest. Several have turned up alive and well and living in the Middle East. The government has not even produced their tickets as evidence that they actually could have boarded the aircraft they are alleged to have hijacked. I've just spent an entire night and part of a day rereading and rereading Professor Griffin's thoroughly researched, judiciously argued, and incredibly disturbing book. Griffin takes on the task of investigating the official account of the 9/11 attacks, asking questions that beg to be asked, ferreting out inconsistencies in White House, Pentagon, and State Department reports, analyzing possible scenarios, and asking what kinds of evidence would properly address unanswered questions.
Griffin invites the reader to examine two possible explanations to account for the inconsistencies: the "incompetence" theory and the "complicity" theory. The former rests on the assumption that stupid mistakes were made both before and after the attack. The latter rests on the assumption that false official accounts were made about advance notice of the attacks and/or that after-the-fact obstruction of investigations took place. Griffin's conclusion is that it's reasonable to suppose that complicity rather than incompetence is the more likely explanation, and he painstakingly makes his case by examining five major challenges to the official version of what happened.
On the second anniversary of 9/11, Donald Rumsfeld made the shocking public claim that the attacks were really blessings "in disguise" (from the book's forward by Richard Falk). Rumsfeld's point was that the US was motivated by the attacks to ramp up its military strength; this was the "blessing" he referred to. But if even part of Griffin's analysis is on the money, the "blessing," which has led to great subsequent loss of life and expenditures of monies in Afghanistan and Iraq, is built on a deception. Griffin has performed an invaluable public service by writing this book, and at no small risk to his reputation. By exposing the flaws in the official version of these events he raises the possibility that mainstream journalists find too terrible to contemplate: that elements of the U.S. government, and possibly even the President, were complicit in bringing these events about.
To those (and they are many) who would dismiss such a suggestion out of hand, I would recommend taking this book seriously. Griffin is no wild-eyed fanatic, and one could not accuse of him of making unwarranted logical leaps. He treats this topic with the same care and rational rigor exhibited in his philosophical works. This book is not so much an indictment of the Bush Administration as a call for a serious public investigation (and not a mere whitewash) of events that have been used to justify unprecedented infringements upon the civil liberties of Americans at home and imperial adventures abroad.
Ultimately, such an investigation (were it ever to occur) would likely lead to impeachment. If the evidence points in the direction that Griffin's analysis suggests, the current government of the United States is guilty of the highest crimes imaginable.
