Shahid Butt, a senior captain at PIA, Pakistan's largest airline, has commented yesterday on his blogsite that it was impossible for ordinary, commercial Boeing 757s and 767s to have been flown by hijackers on 9/11 in the way the official account says they were.

The only part of his analysis that I disagree with is where he speaks of eight of the hijackers turning up alive and well after 9/11. This cannot be used (as Butt does) as evidence that no hijackers were on board any of the four planes, because adherents of the official 9/11 story counter-argue that there were hijackers but that they had stolen the passports/identity papers of these innocent people so as to hide their own real identities.

I agree that this is not evidence that no hijackers were on the four named planes, but as I understand it there is no hard evidence of any hijackers having been on those planes and possibly no evidence that all of the four planes actually crashed where the OCT says they did, though I agree that something crashed there.

Can anyone produce hard evidence of there having been "hijackers" on those planes?

If there is no such evidence, it is clearly wrong to assume there were hijackers or that they were "Muslim" and hence obviously wrong to blame Muslims for the attacks and to scapegoat Muslims in general.

Can anyone produce evidence that the four named planes actually crashed where the US government alleges?

Ian Henshall has recently done an investigation into the stories of "hijackers" being alive and well and has come to the conclusion that these press stories are unreliable. He thinks their common source may have been Saudi intelligence, incensed that Saudis were being blamed for the tragic massacre of 9/11 and that this disinformation was put out before the Saudi government had been induced to support US policy on "terrorism".

Given Pakistan's link to 9/11, i.e. Gen Ahmed of the ISI and the money trail and Pakistan's immediate readiness to ally with Bush on the "War on Terra" this man's statement seems very strange indeed.

Especially considering what can happen to anyone who speaks out against the Status Quo in Pakistan.

I agree that it is wrong to assume hijackers were on board the four planes. You may have wrongly thought that I believed that in my comment that merely makes a point of logic.

The fact that certain elements in the ISI were involved in 9/11 does not imply that all Pakistanis were and remain fooled by the American government's scenario about what happened. Given the recent swing against the Pakistani government and its too-close ties with Washington, I see nothing strange at all in a senior Pakistani airline captain questioning the official story.
