So how many arrests did your brave lads make, and how many convictions Sir Ian? Did nobody think to ask?
Police have foiled 15 terror plots in Britain since the 7/7 London bombings, Ian Blair reveals
Fifteen planned terrorist attacks in Britain have been foiled since the 2005 London bombings, Met chiefs said today.
The revelation came as Met Commissioner Sir Ian Blair warned that the country was being threatened by dangerous extremists who were emerging from "left field" to attempt terrorist attacks.
Sir Ian added that some suspects were moving "very fast" to carry out their plots, forcing police to make pre-emptive arrests to protect the public.
The warning came as Sir Ian and the Met's most senior anti-terrorism officer, Assistant Commissioner Bob Quick, told a parliamentary committee scrutinising the Government's counter-terrorism Bill that they backed an extension of the pre-charge detention limit.
The Met Commissioner said he feared that the current 28-day limit, which the Government wants to extend to 42 days, would soon prove insufficient because of the growing complexities, scale and international scope of plots that police and the security service were detecting..........

One of the things to watch with these claims is that they are habitually inconsistent.
As we saw in Notes From the Borderland when we analysed the figures put forward by MI5 for Britons who had received military training in Afghanistan/Pakistan, the powers that be change the figures with their underwear..........
This week Ian Blair says 15 plots. Next year it could be 30, then the year after it could go back to 15! _________________ http://paulstott.typepad.com/911cultwatch/ |

Can we now expect the Daily Mail to follow up on the cases. Naming the evil perpetrators, detail of each insidious plot and of course reporting on the trial under the great British Justice System. No! Perhaps all plotters committed suicide, before, during or after the event.
Why isn't this fool facing charges of criminal negligence over the death of Mr de Menezes and failure to investigate the 7/7 London bombings to any reasonable degree, yet alone still in office. |

Ian Blair admits he misled MPs over terror threat
From The Sunday Times
May 4, 2008
David Leppard
SIR Ian Blair has admitted misleading MPs by overstating the gravity of the terror threat to Britain.
The gaffe-prone Metropolitan police commissioner said he had been forced to clarify his claims about the number of serious terrorist plots Britain had faced since 2005.
Blair gave evidence to MPs in support of 42-day detention, stating to a Commons committee that police had disrupted “something like 12” serious terrorist plots since the 2005 London bombings. However, Scotland Yard now accepts that the true number is six. The Met chief gave his testimony on April 22 to a committee scrutinising the government’s counter-terrorism bill. One of his deputies who accompanied him said 15 plots had been foiled since the London bombings, prompting banner headlines.
Blair’s admission that he — albeit unwittingly — exaggerated the extent of the terror threat places him in difficulty because he was giving evidence on the government’s proposals to detain terror suspects for 42 days without charge. Ministers have used his backing for the plan to strengthen their case.
He told the MPs that “the growth in the number of plots” was one of the main reasons why “sooner or later we are going to need 42 days”.
Patrick Mercer, a Tory MP who sits on the parliamentary scrutiny committee, questioned how Blair could make a mistake on such a controversial bill. “How much confidence does that give you in him?”
Scotland Yard said Blair accepted he had made a mistake. His office had contacted the committee’s clerk to clarify the error as soon as it became known.
It said: “Any suggestions that the commissioner or assistant commissioner Bob Quick deliberately misled the committee whilst giving evidence on April 22 is completely wrong. A corrective statement was issued to the Press Association.” _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

So, from 15 down to 6. Yet Jaqui Smith said only in April, that 'as many as 30 active plots' were being investigated.
Can we believe anything these lying *#^¨*ç^ say? |
