Met Police chief in quiz over panel that gave £3m contract to skiing pal

....In 2002 Sir Ian, then deputy commissioner, chaired a panel which handed Mr Miller’s company, Impact Plus, a £150,000 consultancy contract to oversee the introduction of an ambitious computer programme known as C3i to link together all of the capital’s 32 borough control rooms.
Following the granting of this deal Impact Plus was awarded further contracts between 2002 and 2008 worth £3million.
Prior to joining the panel, Sir Ian declared his friendship with Mr Miller in a private letter to the MPA.
But last night, a senior figure in the Greater London Authority said: ‘If you have a declared interest, you should not get involved, but Sir Ian sat on the panel that awarded the contract.
'It is important that we have transparency in these matters.

‘Having declared an interest, as he did, Sir Ian should not have sat on that panel.
'He may well have been in breach of local government and EU rules and, clearly, we will be wanting a detailed explanation from him.
'The MPA will want to speak to Sir Ian in person about this.....’
