Mind control central?

I was taking a look at the US military and found this dogey little unit called the Information Dominance Center.
They seem to be a kind of US equivalent to Britain's I/OPS (Information Operations) department of MI6 which plants stories in the press which demonise 'enemies', presumably picked by the CFR and RIIA, to build up public sympathy for war.
Has this been 'closed down' like everything else evil and US when it gets discovered?
