Almost most serious commentators with respect to Hurricane Katrina when hundreds drowned in New Orleans spoke about some type of bombs going off in the walls (levees the Yanks like to call them) which once breached led to the flooding of the poor areas of New Orleans and its eventual 'ethnic cleansing'...
Now by 'coincidence' Bush and Cheney aint going to the Republican convention starting tomorrow so they cant be seen to be with McCain as they have already called McCain McSame...

ST. PAUL, MINN -- Republicans today dramatically scaled back their presidential nominating convention as Hurricane Gustav targeted the Gulf Coast, and they sought to recast it from a partisan event to one focused on the impending natural disaster.
"We are facing a great national challenge," John McCain, the expected presidential nominee, said. Speaking by video to reporters assembled here for the Republican National Convention, the Arizona senator said it was necessary to "take off our Republican hats and put on our American hats."
McCain campaign manager Rick Davis told reporters that Monday's session would be shortened to those events needed to comply with the legal requirements of calling the convention to order. The first day's proceedings would be "business only and will refrain from political rhetoric," he said.
The rest of the convention schedule will be decided on a day-to-day basis.
It was unclear whether McCain would make an appearance at the convention -- that depends on the severity of the storm -- although by law delegates must nominate him and his running mate, Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin.
The shortening of the convention follows the announcement that President Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney would skip the conclave to concentrate on emergency preparations for the storm, expected to hit sometime Monday.
In a visit to an emergency center in Jackson, Miss., McCain told reporters that the convention would be refocused.
"I am directing program changes for beginning on Monday night's activities at our convention. We must redirect our efforts from the really celebratory event of the nomination of the president and vice president of our party to acting as all Americans," McCain said.
"There is very little doubt that we have to go from a party event to the call to the nation for action, action to help our fellow citizens in this time of tragedy and disaster, action in the form of volunteering, donations, reaching out our hands and our hearts and our wallets to the people who are under such great threat from this great natural disaster."
McCain spoke after touring the emergency operation center, along with Palin, and Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour and his wife, Marsha.
McCain has criticized the Bush administration's performance in dealing with Hurricane Katrina, which hit New Orleans three years ago. McCain today praised officials for their efforts.
"There are still issues and challenges, but the fact is that there is no doubt that there has been, thank God, dramatic improvements since the last tragedy of Hurricane Katrina," he said.
Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has also attacked the Bush administration on Katrina and, as part of his campaign, has repeatedly linked McCain to the unpopular president.
Obama campaigned this morning in Lima, Ohio, where he told reporters that the campaign would urge its electronic list of supporters to help or send money for the storm.
"We can activate an e-mail list of a couple million people who want to give back," he said outside St. Luke's Lutheran Church after services. "I think we can get tons of volunteers to travel down there if it becomes necessary."
Asked if McCain's visit to the region was appropriate, he replied: "A big storm like this raises bipartisan concerns, and I think for John to want to find out what's going on is fine.
"The thing that I always am concerned about in the middle of a storm is whether we're drawing resources away from folks on the ground because the Secret Service and various security requirements; sometimes it pulls police, fire and other departments away from concentrating on the job."
Obama said he would stay clear of the area until things settled down and then decide how to help.
Davis and McCain also urged delegates and others gathering here to donate to relief efforts. The campaign chartered a DC-9 to fly Gulf State delegates back to their homes, and Davis said about a dozen had accepted the offer.
"Pray for the best and prepare for the worst," McCain said after speaking with the governors of Texas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Alabama, all of which could be in harm's way. |

What's the purpose of this? The complete unsettling of the populace, the "oh no. Not again!" response
The feeling of chaos....
For the second year the jet stream appears to have been driven southwards, making another British joke of global warming.
A complete absence of summer
To what end? To drive desertification and drought further northwards?
Weather mod seems the order of the day _________________ http://www.exopolitics-leeds.co.uk/introduction |

It a fair point.
But if it really is a Russian warfare tactic then I would imagine that the US would place themselves in a better tactical position by nipping the storm in the bud.
The disruption caused by the storm in the 'homeland' would be of great cost to the country, as was/is Katrina.
The last thing the country needs in 'wartime' is money and time being drained away from the war effort.
That said, it really does depend on who has control of the US's war-machine reins and their vision for the country's future.
If they can 'self inflict' the wound of 9/11, who knows how far they're prepared to go. _________________ For the TV fakery people.

Since I'm here in southeast Texas, only 70 miles from Galveston (the coast) we've been inundated for days already, with all the preparations for Gustav. It is Sunday night and two days ago, our Governor declared 61 counties in Texas 'disaster areas' and called 7500 National Guard troops to the coastal areas to 'help.' First, it's pretty weird to declare a disaster way before there is one. To me, it feels more like martial law trial runs, conditioning people to accept a military presence. If Gustav did hit close by, we would appreciate the help but something is just wrong about all of this. I've lived here my whole life and in times past, if a storm was coming, we just made sure we had batteries/candles, a little food and plenty of water. Now, the local NBC station in Houston, calls their weather segment the 'Severe Weather Center' - not during a hurricane threat BUT EVERYDAY. It is the change of language, using fearful words, conditioning us to stressful words, words of foreboding.
A few weeks ago, we had Tropical Storm Eduard - just a little, typical tropical storm - coming in near Galveston. They cancelled regular programming to cover the storm live all day, with reporters, on air, showing little puddles of water gathering on the freeway feeder roads - "Yes Bob, we're here on the 610 Loop. It's raining (wasn't even enough rain to qualify as a spring shower - more like misting!!) and we're watching the water 'pooling' here on the feeder." (The camera pans down to her feet as she points to a tiny puddle of water, less than 1/2" deep.) This was a complete non-event, nothing!!! and they acted like we should all be afraid, very afraid.
As for the Repulican National Convention - All the politicians are going to act as if New Orleans is their top priority, even though they don't give a rat's ass about the people down there. A more worrisome sign is McCain's VP running mate choice. It's just the most ridiculous, counterintuitive selection that it leads me to believe that something is going to happen to pre-empt the election, so it wouldn't matter if McCain chose Paris Hilton - Either Bush is somehow going to stay in office or something is going to happen to Obama.
Things are getting stranger by the day. It's hard to keep my equilibrium.
There are games afoot. _________________ Cui bono? |
