David Miliband's Foreign Office (FO) put this out a little after the event, as Obama's election swamped the media. Sure passed me by, what about anyone else?

Quote:

Excerpts from 'UK recognises China's direct rule over Tibet'
by Richard Spencer, Daily Telegraph, 5 November 2008
A historic change of position to recognise Chinese sovereignty [over Tibet] was announced in a little-noticed parliamentary statement by the Foreign Secretary David Miliband.
Critics are already asking what Beijing offered – or was asked for – in return.

The quote of course is from Jo Moore

As if that wasn't totalitarian enough here's another one

UK security clearance chief quits over failure to check HIS own staff
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1083651/Security-clearance-chi ef-quits-failure-check-HIS-staff.html

Mike Wilson, chief executive at the SIA, has resigned over security blunders

The boss of the Government agency that vets security guards quit his £100,000-a-year job last night after admitting some of his own staff did not have proper clearance.

Mike Wilson was forced out after 14 months as chief executive of the Security Industry Authority, which has licensed more than 40,000 guards in four years.

The Home Office is reviewing all decisions made by staff who were not vetted for criminal records or immigration status. Seven did not have clearance.

At least one has since failed a security check.

It will check if guards passed to work in posts such as pubs or Government sites were wrongly cleared.

Last year, the authority was found to have cleared more than 7,000 illegal immigrants to work as guards and last month, the National Audit Office accused it of overspending by £17million.............

But surely it was British meddling that propted Tibet to vie for independence? I'm not sure on the full history of it but has Tibet ever been recognised as independent and when? Has it ever been Legaly ratified or is it another Palestine senario?

They obviously knew what they were doing!!
