A soldier who served his country in Iraq and Afghanistan was allegedly attacked and violently beaten by police officers in the street.

Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall, 24, was thrown to the ground by three uniformed police officers after enjoying a night out with friends.

The sickening attack – caught on CCTV – shocked a Crown Court judge who branded it an 'appalling' attack.

After re-posting this and chewig over it, it is unclear where the Paramedics fit into the story. I'm left wondering if this guy maybe assaulted someone earlier in the evening. Maybe someone vocal about the war perhaps?
It's a shame and proves CCTV can only go so far in proving things. Not to say attack by cops is right by any means, thats what judges get paid for Wink

It says on the report he was a victim of "mistaken identity". And a judge already overturned his conviction for assaulting police officers after watching the same footage, saying:

Quote:
I am shocked and appalled at the level of violence shown here

He said he had “great concerns” about the footage of the incident and questioned the officer’s accounts, saying: “I would go as far as to say the statement contain untruths."

No sh*t.

Even if he had assaulted someone, even if he'd murdered someone, that does not give a copper the right bang his head on the floor and punch him repeatedly as he is pinned to the ground as can clearly be seen happening, let alone the gall to say he'd assaulted them. Mind you I think the fact he was a soldier isn't that relevant - if he worked in Asda it would still be inexcusable.
The only good thing about cctv is it sometimes catches the b&stards out.

Have a look at the video.

No excuse whatsoever these cop-thugs are bang to rights. But will be protected by their satanic masters of injustice at the IPCC.
Public servants no less.

Where did the unfit 20+stone 'Hobby Bobby' think he was...maybe he was just practicing for his usual Saturday night thuggery in Wigan so that he could brag to his fellow thugs.

What right have they got to treat anyone like this...it makes me sick.

There should be uproar at this by now. Well at least the Mirror has covered it. The pigs should have been disgraced and sacked by now. Twisted Evil

Wouldnt surprise me if Lance Corporal Mark Aspinall's army mates will come up and sort out the errant Police Constable. Rough justice indeed.

Do we know who the CCTV footage came from and how it got into the public domain.
