CTD Laughing

I love that expression.

His 1999 HBO show on 'Airport Security' really summed up 9/11 and how it would get much worse. Just a shame that his post 9/11 show was so close to the date that he didn't stick his neck out on that occasion.

His DVD set is excellent, despite as much repetition of material as you can expect from any comedian over the years.

How much can you cram into one comedy routine?
Lots of swearing but an excellent clip from George Carlin

So what's the problem with sweariness?

Some people don't like it Paul and prefer to be warned.
Much professional media content is free of swearing and orchestrated tests show audiences like it. Wink

It's a perverted outlet for our truly absurd self-imposed taboos on our essential functions as human animals/beings.

Remove all the taboos and people would stop swearing as there wouldn't be any need.

There is also a train of thought that swearing prevents the mind meshing with the soul and lowers the latter's energy.

YMMV... ;-)

Did Howard Beale need to swear to get his message across in 'Network'?

Interesting perspective - but isn't it, put more simply, that people swear when they cannot find the words to articulate their feelings.
Often because there are no words.
An inarticulat expression of anger ... and not a lot else.

In this context it is ridiculous to argue against swearing. George Carlin is performing to his own audience as Howard Beale is to his. In both cases, the word is spread, no other considerations are relevant.

If a video surfaced of either Sir Anthony Hopkins or Chubby Brown delivered the message, however surprising, they should be treated with equal respect.

It's 'horses for courses' rather than 'one size fits all'.
Always a good idea to warn of swearing.

Aren't anger and inarticulacy(huh?) themselves indications that the mind is not always a clear conduit for the soul?

Improve the link and the voice becomes the outward manifestation of the soul. Note impassioned yet serene speeches from known bodhisatvas - eg. Dalai Lama, Krishnamurti, Gandhi...can't think of an Englishman offhand, though Mo Mowlem came close once or twice.
