Quote: | A web tool that "could be as important as Google", according to some experts, has been shown off to the public.
Wolfram Alpha is the brainchild of British-born physicist Stephen Wolfram.
The free program aims to answer questions directly, rather than display web pages in response to a query like a search engine.
The "computational knowledge engine", as the technology is known, will be available to the public from the middle of May this year.
"Our goal is to make expert knowledge accessible to anyone, anywhere, anytime," said Dr Wolfram at the demonstration at Harvard University's Berkman Center for Internet and Society. |
I wonder how it will answer questions like "Was 9/11 an Inside Job?"

That's odd - same as DejaNews said about its vast Usenet archive - and where did that go? Down the gooogle plughole, that's where!

I wonder who's going to formulate such a bizarre question? ;-) Check out Slate and JREF to understand my sarcasm here!

Same person. I had a hissy-fit earlier in the year. You know the problem: circular arguments, stupid comments etc. I have been somewhat invigorated by eh... the science!
Particularly:
http://www.bentham-open.org/pages/content.php?TOCPJ/2009/00000002/0000 0001/7TOCPJ.SGM
You now have Maths, Physics and Chemistry all aligned with a consistent theory, that of controlled demolition, and of course disproving the official story.

I don't know Slate but did look at JREF. And really! So much for "open minded". As DRG has said the main religion in the USA is not Christianity but Patriotism: Faith blinds them to the truth. As DRG says it is idolatry!

yep I'll look for the lyrics
Idolatry (1991)
5. Idolatry
Born to serve I cannot see
Life of pain trying to execute me
Tribulation persecution of the weak
Souls are lost jest to satisfy the hunger
Immortal blood of those upon my hands
Seeking refuge the promised holy land
Eternity is the price worth the cost
Servant slays the master
Life is of no value
I worship what I hold close to my heart
Master, please don't betray me
I pray your words will find their place in me
There I was among the dead
The point was clear as the blood was running red
For an instant I was alone
A thousand years time refuses to unfold
I worshipped one like myself to put the blood to the test
See me, free me, save me, please take me
I gave you life, you choose to die
But now you're free, forsaken me
Idolatry, idolatry
Can't you see it's killing me the pain inside
From my feelings I can't hide
I chose my fate now it's too late life is gone
Hellish memories linger on
I walk alone into the dark
Bleeding heart now torn apart
Sacrifice the dying one
Hells is here nowhere to run
Hypnotize and mesmerize
Eyes of fire seen in disguise
Father grant my last desire
Release my soul from the fire
Life is of no value
I worship what I hold close to my heart
Master, please don't betray me
I pray your words will find their place in me
There I was among the dead
The point was clear as the blood was running red
For an instant I was alone
A thousand years time refuses to unfold
I worshipped one like myself to put the blood to the test
See me, free me, save me, just kill me _________________ 'Come and see the violence inherent in the system.

Thanks. I thought the style was familiar. ;-)

I find JREF particularly irksome. Why is it necessary for 'professional' debunkers to deny the power of the web on their sites? JREF has a bizarre policy (somewhat reminiscent of the way Jack Straw mangles law) when it comes to external links and even photos - verboten until you prove your debunkeritis. Slate is more vacuous than 'anti-seditious' but has a large following for some reason.

Er, "Tell me the real reason behind the Armenian genocide?"; "...Murray Building bombing?"; "...Gulf of Tonkin?"
I doubt it will provide any more sense than we have gained already. Another wiki, complete with half-truths? _________________ "We will lead every revolution against us!" - attrib: Theodor Herzl
