|
|
BBC news reporting:
- Cheney stepping into Republican political leadership void
- Cheney "plays chess at four different levels"
- Cheney is defending "enhanced interrogation" (ie torture) saying it's "legal, essential, justified and successful"
All we need is a terrorist event to de-stablise US or even Obama administration. Who would step into the gap? Would the public say "How about that guy that kept us safe?"
There was a recent terrorist training event in NY... A sting event today: the FBI stopping a terrorist cell... Police & Army are preparing for riots this summer... |

Quote: | Dick Cheney: Washington trembles at the return of 'Darth Vader'
Dick Cheney was a formidable backroom operator during his eight years as vice-president in the Bush administration. Having abandoned his short-lived retirement in Wyoming, he is now leading the Republican charge against Obama from the front. Ewen MacAskill reports from Washington on the political resurrection of the last true believer of the neo-con years |
Shouldn't this be front page news? |

Quote: | ...Cheney, scowling and, well, fear-mongering: "To bring the worst of the worst terrorists inside the United States would be cause for great danger. . . . It is recklessness cloaked in righteousness and would make the American people less safe. . . . The terrorists see just what they were hoping for: our unity gone, our resolve shaken, our leaders distracted. In short, they see weakness and opportunity."
Cheney used the word "attack" 19 times, "danger" and "threat" six times apiece, and 9/11 an impressive 27 times. It was as if all the angry thoughts edited out of his speeches by Bush aides over eight years were finally free to tumble forth. He railed about "contrived indignation and phony moralizing" among Democrats and a stance that "blames America." He accused Obama of giving terrorists "a lengthy insert for their training manual" and accused the New York Times' reporting of aiding al-Qaeda....
On paper, Obama should be an easy victor in his duel with Cheney; Obama is viewed favorably by about 60 percent of the public, Cheney by about 25 percent. And yet Cheney seems to be winning this fight. |
First highlighted sentence: making Bush seem somehow softer than he really was.
Second highlighted text: why do you think he's winning the fight? Because the MSM is backing his views despite Cheney's advocacy for torture and endless imprisonment. |
