US News and World Report 911 hit piece backfires against the Propagandists
http://revolutionarypolitics.com/?p=885
Quote: | U.S. News and World Report ran an article on May 26th entitled “The Inner Worlds of Conspiracy Believers”. The intention was to demonize the truth/freedom movement by implying that anyone who doesn’t believe the official story of 911 or anyone who mistrusts the government all-together is mentally ill. But the real story isn’t the obvious moronic drivel concocted by this yellow-journalistic rag of disinformation, it is the collection of well-informed comments left on their site…. 147 so far, the overwhelming majority of which are critical of the official conspiracy theory and also of this collection of nonsense that tries to pass itself off as news. Here are the comments…

I post this as the comments mentioned give a good indicator of 'improved focus' by US persons-in-the-street. Heartening. No wonder Prez O'Bummer wants Thoughtcrime law! _________________ "We will lead every revolution against us!" - attrib: Theodor Herzl

The guy who claims to have carried out this research is Viren Swami of the University of Westminster in London. This is so-far unpublished work, scheduled to appear in an upcoming Applied Cognitive Psychology.
There's another report at Digital Journal (http://www.digitaljournal.com/article/273228#tab=comments&sc=0&contri bute=&local=). I'm just waiting to see whether my comment appears:
Quote: | Were Tony Blair and his friends included in this research? They were the main ones who were insisting that 9/11 was a government conspiracy. Many believed them. They even went to war on that basis. There was no evidence whatsoever that the Afghan government was involved in that attack.
The proof that the official version of events was wrong is very specific to the event and was conducted by experts in their fields. I look forward to reading this research. It seems like another case in which the 'research' is distributed to the press before it has appeared in a peer-reviewed journal. |
The author's profile is given on the university's website as:
Quote: | Viren Swami
Senior Lecturer in Psychology
School of Social Science, Humanities and Languages, Department of Psychology

Viren Swami is a Malaysian-born, British-educated social psychologist. The main focus of his research is on the psychology of interpersonal attraction, particularly across cultures. He also maintains an interest in related fields, including body image disorders, self-perceptions of attractiveness, and weight-based discrimination. He has published widely in a range of journals and is the author of The Missing Arms of Vénus de Milo and (with Adrian Furnham) The Psychology of Physical Attraction. He is also the translator into Malay of works by, among others, Kafka, Borges, and Orwell.

I think we need to follow this up. Perhaps if there any psychologists reading this they could get a copy of the paper for analysis.

Stand by your debunks... ;-)
No need, imo, as they've 'unfortunately' offered AJ's best and most persuasive shot yet.

And the summary will appear in which peer-reviewed journal?
I'm still waiting for Henry62's refutation of Jones to be published, too ;-)

Thanks, scubadiver.
No doubt I'll read it eventually. It's not as accessible as Jones, Harrit et al though ;-) _________________ "We will lead every revolution against us!" - attrib: Theodor Herzl

When it gets published I might be tempted to nip into Reading University library and photocopy it. _________________ Currently working on a new website |
