Quote: | Dear AFAT friends
I don't know if any of you have recently been in touch with Keith. He is in hospital in Perth suffering from serious memory loss. I have spoken to him on the phone several times and he seems to have no recollection of his work with AFAT. I live in London but am going to Scotland tomorrow to visit Keith. We have been friends since 1976 and I'm very upset about his illness.
I should also be very upset if the the work he started with AFAT came to a halt and would ask you all to consider what could be done to keep it alive. I just attended one meeting of AFAT in Glasgow last October, but am afraid have forgotten who exactly I met at that meeting. I'm supposedly AFAT's Quaker representative. |

Noel Glyn has asked me to post this information as he is presently in transit and out of reach of a computer. This is also in response to an earlier thread in which Tony requested more information about how to contact Keith.
Keith recently entered hospital voluntarily. Noel visited Keith yesterday and he is recovering from what appears to be short term memory loss. He has not forgotten his 911 activities and this is a promising sign. Keith let it be known that he would very much appreciate visitors, letters, cards etc. Just now he is not on the Net and his mobile isn't working. But he does remember people and would be glad to hear from them.
Anyone wishing to contact him should write or phone: Moredun B Wing, Murray Royal Hospital, Muirhall Road, PERTH, Perthshire PH2 7BH, Scotland. (Tel 01241 872584) |

Thanks for posting this, Isfahan.
I'm now back in London after visiting Keith. He asked me to send his best wishes to all.
His main problem seems to be short-term memory loss and confusion aboout time. He will forget things which were said five minutes ago, such as the decision to make a cup of tea. And he is very confused about time of day, day of week and which month it is. But I saw no indication of his forgetting who people are. We spoke about a lot of people whom we both know.
He had, however, forgotten that he is due to speak at a meeting in the Birmingham Central Mosque on Sunday 5th July with Kevin Barrett, founder of MUJCA and Dr Mohammad Naseem. Clearly he will not be well enough to do that.
He was very appreciative of our visit and the visits of many others who are concerned about him and he's very affectionate towards his friends. He is getting lots of visits from well-wishers, sometimes at weekends, so many that he finds it a bit tiring.
I would advise anyone who wants to contact him to do so by sending a card or a hard-copy letter because he will forget phone messages or e-mails. On the phone he tends to forget in the middle of a conversation who he's talking to.
I was encouraged to find him not seeming as bad as I had feared and I am hopeful of a full recovery over time.
