A PROFESSOR of engineering is to destroy a Glasgow tower block in an effort to understand why the Twin Towers collapsed in the 9/11 attacks.

Jose Torero, Professor of Fire Safety Engineering at Edinburgh University, will set the disused building in the east end of Glasgow alight and study the effects...

Excellent.
Even though there are plenty of examples of steel-frame skyscrapers withstanding massive fires for many hours and not collapsing this could be a useful experiment.

Now that hes announced it, there may be a possibility of 'someone' getting access and rigging it with explosives as that is IMO the only way it will fall down into its own footprint at near freefall speeds, pulverising all the concrete as it goes to a fine dust whilst ejecting steel beams hundreds of feet.. He should employ some kind of security/bomb sniffing dogs and not allow this security to be pulled out in the week before he conducts the experiment...

Perhaps a control experiment could be set up alongside with a building rigged for demolition as a comparison. See which one best fits the wtc...

If he is successful in achieving the effects seen with the wtc with a fire then a lot of controlled demolition companies are perhaps going to sue him for exposing their 'scam'.

I could see no mention of this in the article.

The headline of the BBC article - Tower block fire aids 9/11 debate - is helpful in that it implicitly acknowledges there is no accepted explanation for the collapse of the towers.

It goes on to say of Professor Torero -

"He also hopes it will shed light on why the Twin Towers collapsed on 9/11."

No mention of the $20 milllion NIST report or any official explanation. As a stand alone article the implication is that the collapse of the towers is a mystery. The truth in fact.

Not naive enough to think the Horizon programme will be unbiased but lets hope it gives some respect to those who question the official tale.
