Muslim kidnapped and dumped in forest

A MEMBER of the South Woodford Community Centre and Mosque was kidnapped and dumped in Epping Forest in a suspected hate crime.

The 35-year-old Muslim man was abducted from his home at around noon on Monday and taken by two white men, in a 4x4 vehicle, to the forest.

Police believe the abduction is linked to a threatening letter and firebomb attack on the man's home in Loughton in July and said a possible motivation was the use of Murray Hall in Loughton by the Muslim community for Friday prayers.

Supt Simon Williams, of Harlow police, said: "We are treating these offences with the utmost seriousness and are putting considerable resources into the investigation.

"While that investigation continues we will be working with the whole population of Loughton to ensure that all members of the community are free to practise their religion and beliefs safely and freely."

Dr Mohammed Fahim, Imam of South Woodford Community Centre in Mulberry Way where the kidnap victim has been a member for five years, said: "We will not be intimidated......
