Yes, but unfortunately that conclusion is in doubt, owing to possibility of that particular function of the recordings perhaps not being applicable to that aircraft, and basically it would show 'no opening' at all times, even if door was opened.

I agree wholeheartedly that there is huge doubt whether the sensor was installed or working on Flight 77. The point being is that it shouldn't be left up to the likes of us to do air crash analysis. The only four aircraft crashes not investigated by the NTSB in US history occurred on 9/11... You can got to their website where every other air crash has a crash report...

Personally I have doubts about the whole Flight 77 data set since the lack of black box type and serial number means that the providence of the data is in doubt.

Thanks, outsider.

Even with four planes on "alert" (presumably armed) and assuming there was no way to expect or react to the first crash, may have missed the second crash, the third and fourth crash were easily within the capabilities of the USAF.

And, of course, there were many more fighters available on exercises. If Bush had bothered to organize a response rather than call for a press conference and 2 minutes silence at 9.24am (while there were still 3000+ people to be rescued) (oh and not been part of the plot) then again, at least 2 aircraft could have been intercepted.

And if the E4B and AWACS that were flying that day could also have been used to track the unidentified aircraft that had nicely turned off their transponders (to make them more visible to military radar operators), then again, at least 2 aircraft could have been intercepted.

Not to mention jets available from US Navy (as discussed by shoestring), US Marines, National Guard...

And, as I mention in the link above, Roland White states in his book Vulcan 607, that US air defences were pretty solid against unidentified aerial intruders by the mid-1970s.

Somewhere on this Forum recently was posted useful info about Congressional Air Charters, and thier Eddie Shalev giving glowing report of Hani Hanjour's flying aptitude (against a mile of counter reports, this was the one used by 9/11 Commission Report).
