Rage Against The Machine for UK Christmas Number One
OK, so this isn't specifically an issue of Truth but it is, in the opinion of many, about more than just sabotaging the annual X-Factor Chart hegemony.
The song is (rabidly) anti-war and money is being raised for UK Homeless Charity Shelter.
For as little as 29p you can buy a download of Killing In The Name and help it destroy the drivel churned out by your mind controllers.
Killing In The Name is the bookies favourite (William Hill has suspended betting) and is currently 60,000 ahead of the shíte but the X-Fuctor CD came out today.
I don't even have a TeeVee™ and the Simon Cowell Celebrity Machine has invaded my consciousness. I pity anybody who still plugs into the MKTUBE.

Who chose this song to compete against Cowell?
I wont buy it because
Quote:
f u I wont do what you tell me
f u I wont do what you tell me
f u I wont do what you tell me
f u I wont do what you tell me
Well--- in this case I may make an exception.
Although it might be better to see Cowell in your xmas stockings--remember what it did for George

Rage Against The Machine Christmas Single: The Man Responsible Facebook group creator Jon Morter
The media has been awash with opinions on Rage Against The Machine's unlikely push for Christmas Number 1. There are yelps of "F*ck the man!", smatterings of "Where's the money going?" cynicism and all round intrigue as events unfold. We've passed our comment. As it stands, 'Killing In The Name Of' leads the midweek singles chart. However, with the X-Factor single is set to regain ground through Wednesday's physical release, we decided to grab a quick word with the overnight social network guru, group creator and cause of this whole inspiring phenomenon, along with his wife, Jon Morter.
Hello Jon. How are you?
Mate, it's just completely mental at the moment.
I can imagine. Tell us about your day?
Well, I'm trying to fit in my normal 9-5 day job with everything that is going on. It's been tricky to say the least. The song's gone to number one on the midweek chart. I've had ITV on my case earlier this morning, done a bit for BBC London and then a couple of phone interviews this afternoon.
Did you ever think it would get this far?
No. Not at all. I mean... Tom Morello is going to be on BBC6 talking about it! I'm going to try and weasel in and meet the man himself. I never expected it to be this big. All I did was make a Facebook group because I was pissed off about the Christmas no. 1 situation. I expected 200-300 people to just join, saying, you know “Right on” etc, then the numbers just started exploding. Everytime I refreshed, rather than just one or two adding on, it was two hundred, every few seconds! After ten minutes we had 1,000 members. And I thought “Christ. Something is working here”.
Tell us about the Facebook platform itself. It's caused you some problems yes? Wild rumours were suggesting that some were trying to censor the group?
Yeah, it's been a bit annoying. My wife spoke to Facebook personally yesterday. Basically, it's nothing dodgy, just sheer traffic which has caused a bug to kick in that takes it down occasionally. So we made the back up group, which has about 19,000 now I think. Hopefully we can use that to make people aware if the main group goes down. I think we're actually one of the most highly populated UK based Facebook groups now.
You're main rival in this battle is X-Factor and its monopoly on the Christmas No.1. What's your opinion on the show?
To be honest, it's not my cup of tea. It doesn't bother me too much though. I love music. I'm a music fan. I have nothing against X-Factor as such, but I wouldn't want to watch it every week by a long shot.
Many people are casting Simon Cowell as the villain in all this. What's your opinion?
Well he is the figurehead of the X-Factor. And there's nearly a million people in our group. So there are sometimes going to be people who will use this as a personal attack. That was never intended at all. I was just bored of X-Factor being No.1 at Christmas all the time. That's the key. That's the point we wanted to make. I have absolutely nothing personal against Simon. We made that clear from the start. There is nothing anti-Simon Cowell about this at all. We just want the Christmas Number 1 back!
There are numerous critics, noting that all the money garnered from this race will all end up at the same label (Sony). Are they missing the point?
I think that is completely beside the point. I didn't start the group thinking "Here is another Sony act, let's get them to number one" No. I just thought, "This is a cracking, defiant tune!". It's a challenge. And why not?
What would you say to people yet to buy the single?
BUY IT! We're number one in the midweek charts. However, the X-Factor single comes out physically tomorrow (Wednesday). That will probably hit us hard. The way it's shaping, it's almost more like a vote than a purchase. People who aren't major RATM fans are buying it anyway, just because they are sick of X-Factor's domination of the Christmas Number 1.
I would also argue that we've created a massive buzz over the download chart, that otherwise wouldn't have been there this Christmas.
And on a rather encouraging note, you've asked your members to donate £1 to the Shelter charity ?
Yes, when we got to 300,000 fans we thought "This is getting big. Let's make some good out of it". So we tried to get a good cause and set it up to correlate with us. We expected a couple of hundred quid. It's raised about £33,000 so far. Which is just fantastic! We're encouraging people who want to give; to give. The whole feel of the group has been fantastic.

Well maybe not "F*** YOU" but certainly the same sentiment
Anti war yes
Anti establishment? Anti present establishment or anti any establishment? Because only another establishment will take its place.
Have downloaded . Would be nice to see people power changing things. Consumer power is so powerful if it can be harnassed _________________ JO911B.

Nobody could pretend it's any great rebellion, but a one-off populist revolt against the consensus numbskull culture, a very tiny little step in the revelation - well done all those even unaware somehow revulsed by the media consensus, and those characters Cowell, Walsh and Cole

It's Christmas Number One, it's Top of the Pops
F*ck you, I wont do what you tell me
Merry Christmas 2009
All about Sony this - got both bases covered.
RAM not my Christmas bag.
Of course Sony makes whatever
That's hardly the point
The battlefield is always set by them for profit. Just be glad that the right cultural guys won. It's the apocalypse, ie revelation, where nothing they can do can turn out right for them
They are revealed at every turn, just look at the swine flu
That's the significance of the RATM success
The silent majority are opposing them
RAGM are not my cup of tea either but I still bought the single. The message is good - its anti-war for a start - and is a signal that the population can "Think Different"

The Sony equation definitely takes the shine off what many might consider a victory.
Alas, even at the outset, lots of people heartily agreeing to collectively support a song which contains the lryic "F**k you I wont do what you tell me!" is, at best, a mass-influenced gesture.
Sony and Cowell's investment in that has nothing to do with it
I understand investments in both sides
The original Facebook poster has no attachments or promoters that I can finnd
Maybe someone can inform differently Obviously this is taken up in the main media as another sideist dispute. Superficially it's different from that
It's a populist resistance to the main manufactured reality, and therefore a good thing
If anyone can find any evidence against that, I'd happily concede

Used the machine to beat the machine.Suppose we can be encouraged that the internet and consumer power can work together with a bit of imagination and a little help from the msm and win.
Whats next ? any suggestions? _________________ JO911B.

Tony do you really feel that pointing out the many instances when Christians have been manipulated into killing in the name of Christianity makes one satanic? _________________ Today's mighty oak is just yesterday's nut, that held its ground.

Was it cast for the mass who burn and toil?
Or for the vultures who thirst for blood and oil?
Yes a spectacle monopolized

Beautiful World - RATM
---------------------------------------------------------------------- ----------
It's a beautiful world we live in
A sweet romantic place
Beautiful people everywhere
The way they show they care makes me want to say
It's a beautiful world
Oh what a beautiful world
For you
It's a wonderful time to be here
It's nice to be alive
Wonderful people everywhere
The way they comb their hair makes me want to say
It's a wonderful place
Oh what a wonderful place
For you, for you, for you, for you, for you, for you, not me
The movie ran through me
The glamour subdue me
The tabloid untie me
I'm empty please fill me
Mister anchor assure me
That Baghdad is burning
Your voice it is so soothing
That cunning mantra of killing
I need you my witness
To dress this up so bloodless
To numb me and purge me now
Of thoughts of blaming you
Yes the car is our wheelchair
My witness your coughing
Oily silence mocks the legless
Ones who travel now in coffins
On the corner
The jury's sleepless
We found your weakness
And it's right outside our door
Now testify
Now testify
It's right outside our door
Now testify
Yes testify
It's right outside our door
With precision you feed me
My witness I'm hungry
Your temple it calms me
So I can carry on
My slaving sweating the skin right off my bones
On a bed of fire I'm choking on the smoke that fills my home
The wrecking ball rushing
Witness your blushing
The pipeline is gushing
While here we lie in tombs
While on the corner
The jury's sleepless
We found your weakness
And it's right outside your door
Now testify
Yeah testify
It's right outside our door
Now testify
Now testify
It's right outside our door
Mass graves for the pump and the price is set
Mass graves for the pump and the price is set
Mass graves for the pump and the price is set
Mass graves for the pump and the price is set
Who controls the past now controls the future
Who controls the present now controls the past
Who controls the past now controls the future
Who controls the present now?
Now testify
Testify
It's right outside our door
Now testify
Testify
It's right outside our door
Solo, I'm a soloist on a solo list
Al live, never on a floppy disk
Inka, inka, bottle of ink
Paintings of rebellion
Drawn up by the thoughts I think
Yeah!
Come on!
The militant poet in once again, check it
It's set up like a deck of cards
They're sending us to early graves
For all the diamonds
They'll use a pair of clubs to beat the spades
With poetry I paint the pictures that hit
More like the murals that fit
Don't turn away
Get in front of it
Brotha, did ya forget ya name?
Did ya lose it on the wall
Playin' tic-tac-toe?
Yo, check the diagonal
Three brothers gone
Come on
Doesn't that make it three in a row?
Anger is a gift
Come on!
Uggh!
Check that!
Uggh!
Come on
Yeah
Uggh!
Brotha, did ya forget ya name?
Did ya lose it on the wall
Playin' tic-tac-toe?
Yo, check the diagonal
Three million gone
Come on
Cause they're counting backwards to zero
Environment
The environment exceeding on the level
Of our unconciousness
For example
What does the billboard say
Come and play, come and play
Forget about the movement
Anger is a gift
Freedom, Freedom, yeah right

These lyrics are generally good but as usual - twisted to bad just when yuoui thought there ws cultural hope.
Better of the two Sony songs though, I'll concede that.
