Kurt HaskellKurt Haskell's boarding pass for NWA Flight 253
A Michigan man who was aboard Northwest Airlines Flight 253 says he witnessed Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab trying to board the plane in Amsterdam without a passport.
Kurt Haskell of Newport, Mich., who posted an earlier comment about his experience, talked exclusively with MLive.com and confirmed he was on the flight by sending a picture of his boarding pass. He and his wife, Lori, were returning from a safari in Uganda when they boarded the NWA flight on Friday.
Kurt HaskellLori and Kurt Haskell
Haskell said he and his wife were sitting on the ground near their boarding gate in Amsterdam, which is when they saw Mutallab approach the gate with an unidentified man.
Kurt and Lori Haskell are attorneys with Haskell Law Firm in Taylor. Their expertise includes bankruptcy, family law and estate planning.
While Mutallab was poorly dressed, his friend was dressed in an expensive suit, Haskell said. He says the suited man asked ticket agents whether Mutallab could board without a passport. “The guy said, 'He's from Sudan and we do this all the time.'”
Mutallab is Nigerian. Haskell believes the man may have been trying to garner sympathy for Mutallab's lack of documents by portraying him as a Sudanese refugee.
The ticket agent referred Mutallab and his companion to her manager down the hall, and Haskell didn't see Mutallab again until after he allegedly tried to detonate an explosive on the plane.
Haskell said the flight was mostly unremarkable. That was until he heard a flight attendant say she smelled smoke, just after the pilot announced the plane would land in Detroit in 10 minutes. Haskell got out of his seat to view the brewing commotion.
“I stood up and walked a couple feet ahead to get a closer look, and that's when I saw the flames,” said Haskell, who sat about seven rows behind Mutallab. “It started to spread pretty quickly. It went up the wall, all the way to ceiling.”
Haskell, who described Mutallab as a diminutive man who looks like a teenager, said about 30 seconds passed between the first mention of smoke and when Mutallab was subdued by fellow passengers.
“He didn't fight back at all. This wasn't a big skirmish,” Haskell said. “A couple guys jumped on him and hauled him away.”
The ordeal has Haskell and his wife a little shaken. Flight attendants were screaming during the fire and the pilot sounded notably nervous when bringing the plane in for a landing, he said.
“Immediately, the pilot came on and said two words: emergency landing,” Haskell said. “And that was it. The plane sped up instead of slowing down. You could tell he floored it.”
As Mutallab was being led out of the plane in handcuffs, Haskell said he realized that was the same man he saw trying to board the plane in Amsterdam.
Passengers had to wait about 20 minutes before they were allowed to exit the plane. Haskell said he and other passengers waited about six hours to be interviewed by the FBI.
About an hour after landing, Haskell said he saw another man being taken into custody. But a spokeswoman from the FBI in Detroit said Mutallab was the only person taken into custody.. Comment by James aka adap2k 11 minutes ago We all have been hearing about the man who allegedly tried to blow up a Northwest flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit, Michigan. What you are not hearing about is that a Michigan man, who was onboard that flight with his wife and has now been verified on passenger manifests and ticket stubs claims that this suspect was allowed on the flight with special permision from a "sharp dressed man" because the suspect had no passport.
Wait... WHAT?

Videos: Kurt and Lori Haskell talk Flight 253, passport 'accomplice' and FBI questioning
By Jonathan Oosting | MLive.com

Metro Detroit attorney Kurt Haskell told MLive.com this weekend that he witnessed a "sharp-dressed" man help terror suspect Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab board Detroit-bound Flight 253 in Amsterdam without a passport.
This week, he and his wife shared their story with several national media outlets. You'll find highlights below
Fox News: Haskell shares his story with host Gregg Jarrett
Question: Could the well-dressed man have been with security?
Haskell: You know I can't say for sure, but that wasn't the impression that I got. He didn't have any kind of badge on or any kind of documents and he didn't really seem to be acting in any kind of a official capacity. It was more like he was trying to bully or convince this ticket agent she needed to let this man on.
Kurt HaskellLori and Kurt HaskellQuestion: You saw a second man arrested other than Abdulmutallab?
Haskell: I wouldn't say arrested. What I saw was, bomb sniffing dogs were brought in, one of them made a reaction to one of the carry-on bags of a different Indian gentleman who I would say was around age 30. They immediately escorted him to an interrogation room where he was held for about an hour, at which point he came out, was handcuffed and was taken
NPR: Haskell appears on All Things Considered (listen)
Question: Did anybody else get wind of exchange?
Haskell: No, I don't think anybody else was even paying attention. It was such a non-event. I though so little of this, I didn't even repeat it to my wife who was sitting next to me. To me it was just two men that looked strange together, and nothing else.
CNN: Kurt and Lori Haskell on the FBI's reaction
Lori Haskell: The seemed really interested in what we had to say. They talked to every family. A lot of the family's they talked to about five minutes. They talked to Kurt and I for probably about 15 minutes, maybe a little more. At one point they called over another FBI agent to, I guess, witness what the other one was talking to us about. So, I think they were really interested in what we had to say in the Amsterdam airport, however, the FBI and no other authorities have contacted us since then.
CNN: Does that seem odd to you?
Lori Haskell: You know, I don't know. It does seem a little bit odd that if my husband is the only one that noticed this happening, I would think we would have been contacted for further questioning. Especially now with all the media that's been contacting us

This Leg Bomber op. seems to be about adding Yemen to the list of US / NATO occupied countries.
Bombing going on now.
Obama takes 'war on terror' to Yemen
Guardian - 29th December 2009
As Obama vows to track down the would-be bombers, he could be creating a new launch-pad for attacks against the west
Barack Obama's steely vow to hunt down all those responsible for the attempted bombing of an American airliner on Christmas Day has left a crucial question unanswered: whether it was his personal order to US military forces to attack two suspected al-Qaida bases in Yemen with cruise missiles on 17 December that triggered a "revenge" terrorist operation against the Northwest Airlines plane one week later.
According to a report aired on 18 December by the American ABC News network and not denied by the White House, US and Yemeni government forces jointly targeted al-Qaida training camps in the Arhab district, 60km north-east of the capital, Sana'a on 17 December. Another alleged camp in the village of al-Maajala, in Abyan, 480km south-east of Sana'a, was also hit after US officials determined "an imminent attack against a US asset was being planned" there.
Both targets were bombed repeatedly from the air by Yemeni air force planes. Subsequent official estimates said about 35 militants were killed. But Yemeni opposition spokesmen said a total of between 60 and 120 people had died during bombardments of the two targets and a third location. They said many of those killed were civilians, including women and children. They denied the villages contained al-Qaida camps.
Television pictures broadcast from Yemen by the Arab news channel al-Jazeera on 18 December showed dozens of bodies covered in sheets.....

The msm is now carrying reports of the alleged perp's internet postings on an Islamic Forum website.
The forum's URL is reported to be: http://www.gawaher.com/
I picked up the story from our esteemed "leading liberal voice" The Guardian, which probably got the story from the Washington Post that first published the details here:
In online posts apparently by Detroit suspect, religious ideals collide
The Washington Post article included this cautionary paragraph.
Washington Post wrote: | A U.S. government official said late Monday that federal intelligence officials were reviewing the online postings but had not independently confirmed their authenticity. |
The Guardian's version is here

Postings at the Islamic Forum website appear to give more information about the failed bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Below are a selection of the posts attributed to him.
First post: 28 January 2005 [...] i have no friend. Not because i do not socialise, etc but because either people do not want to get too close to me as they go partying and stuff while i dont, or they are bad people who befriend me and influence me to do bad things.

5 February 2005 [...] i get lonely sometimes because i have never found a true muslim friend. I'm active, i socialise with everybody around me, no conflicts, i laugh and joke but not excessively. I will describe myself as very ambitious and determined, especially in the deen. I might sound boring, but if you want to know more about me, just give me shout.
9 May 2005 [Responding to a post about the westernisation of some children in Saudi Arabia] Don't expect the saudi government to do anything that will stop this [... ] don't forget it is the government that allowed the US to come into the country to 'protect' them [...] It is the government that allowed haram Satellite TV to be broadcasted. And there are stories even that the princes drink alcohol themselves. Plus they are good friends with the american government. [...] The prophet (S) did say a time will come when the leaders will be the worst among the people. Indeed this seems to be the time. There are so many pious Saudis out there and great scholars. But not only in Saudi, almost everywhere in the world now, we are ruled by the worst of people, tyrants. May Allah help us and guide us all, and establish for us good leaders who fear Him. |
I registered with www.gawaher.com last night so that I could find out for myself rather than accept the stories in the media.
You can do the same, it's really quite informative.

This makes him just over 18 years old when he first joined.
Context: It has been reported that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab attended a British boarding school in Togo and was studying for an International Baccalaureate or IB. So his joining date and date of his first posting would indicate that he was still in Togo.
This post from Farouk1986 on March 25th 2005, supports just that:

Farouk1986 wrote: | I Think I Feel Lonely, Religious dilemmas
Post #1
Assalamu Alaykum brothers and sisters,
I have several dilemmas i want to get out of and this has made me lonely. As i intent to write a lot, i suggest for anyone who gets board of my long desperate talk to just read the bit they can and advise me even it is just a sentence. I will find it very beneficail and comforting to get help from muslim brothers and sisters.
Firstly i will start with a bit of my background and then the dilemmas. I am a boarding student in a school with few muslims. For some years now, i hav been doing some da'wah, mainly enjoining good and forbiding evil, and jihadinnafs, trying to become closer to Allah. But i have been facing several problems.
First of all, i have no friend. Not because i do not socialise, etc but because either people do not want to get too close to me as they go partying and stuff while i dont, or they are bad people who befriend me and influence me to do bad things. Hence i am in a situation where i do not have a friend, i have no one to speak too, no one to consult, no one to support me and i feel depressed and lonely. i do not know what to do.
And then i think this loneliness leads me to other problems. As i get lonely, the natural sexual drive awakens and i struggle to control it, sometimes leading to minor sinful activities like not lowering the gaze.
And this problem makes me want to get married to avoid getting aroused. The Prophet (S) advised young men to fast if they cant get married but it has not been helping me much and i seriously dont want to wait for years before i get married. But i am only 18, (just going to university, insha Allah in London or California). i have not started searching for prospective partners because It would be difficult for me to get married due to social norms of getting to the late 20's when one has a degree, a job, a house, etc before getting married, plus parents are relunctunt to give their daughters in marriage to an 18 year old and sisters are also not normally willing to marry an 18 year old. Anyway alhamdulillah my parents i know could help me financially should i get married, even though i think they are also not going to be in favour of early marriage.
The last thing i want to talk about is my dilemma between liberalism and extremism. The Prpphet (S) said religion is easy and anyone who tries to overburden themselves will find it hard and will not be able to continue. So anytime i relax, i deviate sometimes and then when i strive hard, i get tired of what i am doing i.e. memorising the quran, etc. How should one put the balance right?
Thank you for anyone whoo reaches this stage of reading my problem. May Allah reward you for reading and reward you more for helping. Ameen |
Here is the URL for that post: http://www.gawaher.com/index.php?showtopic=7544
Just in case anyone at The Guardian has any doubts about my integrity when copying and pasting, here is the screen capture of the post:
So, The "Leading Liberal Voice of the UK Media" Guardian, reports this extract from the penultimate paragraph of his post, thus:
The Guardian wrote: | The last thing i want to talk about is my dilemma between liberalism and extremism [...] How should one put the balance right? |
When in the real world, the paragraph actually reads:
Farouk1986 wrote: | The last thing i want to talk about is my dilemma between liberalism and extremism. |
No biggy ?
Perhaps so. But it is indicative, is it not, of the agenda our trusted media follows?
Remember, this is the first post of an 18 year old in a forum section where members have to post anonymously to avoid embarrasment, so that they can air their anxieties without fear of ridicule etc.
Farouk1986 is quite clearly expressing his thoughts on normal teenage issues like loneliness, sexual thoughts, marriage etc., within the context of his faith and how to strike a balance with the demands of studying the Quran whilst facing the terrifying prospect of shortly becoming a student in a Californian or London University and facing all of the temptations there on offer.
[EDIT: The "anonymous" posts are just that. They do not carry the poster's user name when viewed in the Counselling Room. However, they do show up under the user's name when listing all topics for that user, that is why they are attributed to Farouk1986 here, but are not attributed to Farouk1986 in the Counselling Room. Hope that clears up the apparent contradiction]
For The Guardian to replace this:
Farouk1986 wrote: | The Prpphet (S) said religion is easy and anyone who tries to overburden themselves will find it hard and will not be able to continue. So anytime i relax, i deviate sometimes and then when i strive hard, i get tired of what i am doing i.e. memorising the quran, etc. |
with this:
is disingenuous and deliberately deceiptful.
The Daily Mail, however goes one step further, turning this:
Farouk1986 wrote: | The last thing i want to talk about is my dilemma between liberalism and extremism. |
into this:
Daily Mail wrote: | ‘I want to talk about my dilemma between liberalism and extremism,’ he writes. |
Daily Mail 30 December 2009
And here is the screen dump to prove it, just in case it changes later on:
What I do find a little odd is that the Guardian could have included the following post from later on in the same Counselling thread:
Farouk1986 in conversation about his fantasies:
Farouk1986 wrote: | Assalamu Alaykum,
Alright, i wont go into too much details about me fantasy, but basically they are jihad fantisies. I imagine how the great jihad will take place, how the muslims will win insha Allah and rule the whole world, and establish the greatest empire once again!!!
So usually my fatasies are about islamic stuff. The bad part of it is sometimes the fantasies are a bit worldly rather than concentrating in the hereafter.
Do i need to clarify anything further???
Ma'assalam  |

The disturbed mind of the Christmas Day airline bomber is evident in a series of tormented postings he wrote on the internet.
As a lonely 18-year-old, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab turned to an Islamic web forum as he struggled with his shame over his sexuality and growing alienation from his family.
His innermost thoughts reveal a shy and awkward teenager who loved football – but also contain chilling hints of the terrorist he would become.
The two faces of the alleged bomber: Abdulmutallab acted 'completely out of character' in his attempt to blow up the aircraft, say his family
They show an increasingly religious and intolerant young man who fantasised about becoming a Muslim holy warrior in the ‘great jihad’ that would take place across the world. |
Incorrect: Nowhere in any of his postings does Farouk1986 fantasise about becoming a Muslim holy warrior in the ‘great jihad’ that would take place across the world.
What he did write was the following in an undated, anonymous post in the Counselling Room:

As the Daily Mail states below:

Assalamu Alaykum
I have received some offers from UCAS to study in certain universities in the UK.
The offers are from the following universities;
Imperial college london
Kings college london
University college london
Birmingham
Nottingham (about to send the offer they said)
I plan to study some sought of Engineering with something like business management.
Please i would like some advice from you on which university to choose depending on the location, the islamic environment, how good the uni's are (especially if you know someone in the universities or have heard about it)
By UCAS regulation i have to choose a firm offer which if my grades match to, i have no option but that university in the Uk, and an insurance offer to go to if i dont make me first offer. Or go through clearing and choose from wide range of universities that didn't give me offers if they have vacancies.
At the moment for UCAS i plan to choose Imperial college as me first offer, insurance offer i dont know. Please help me out. or should i scrap all offers and go through clearing?
Then i applied to US colleges in California;
University of California, Berkeley
California institute of technology
Stanford
Then in Canada i applied to Mcgill in Montreal.
Where should i go?

‘I am of the view meat not slaughtered by Muslims … is haram [forbidden] for consumption unless necessary,’ he wrote.
‘My parents are of the view as foreigners, we are allowed to … eat any meat.
‘It occured [sic] to me I should not be eating with my parents as they use meat I consider haram. But I fear this might cause division and other complicated family problems.’
While officials haven’t verified that the postings were written by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, details from the posts match his personal history.
Abdulmutallab, the youngest of 16 children and a son of the second of his father’s two wives, was raised at the family home in Kaduna, a city in Nigeria’s Muslim-dominated north.
At boarding school, he earned the nickname ‘Alfa,’ a local term for Muslim clerics, because of his penchant for preaching Islam. He went on to study at UCL in London, from 2005 to 2008.
Fabrizio Cavallo Marincola, 22, who studied with him, said he graduated in May 2008 and showed no signs of radicalisation or of links to al-Qaeda.
‘He always did the bare minimum of work,’ Mr Marincola said. ‘When we were studying, he always would go off to pray.
‘He was pretty quiet and didn’t socialise much or have a girlfriend that I knew of.’
Farouk1986 also refers to his love of Liverpool FC in the posts, mocking Arsenal fans for the state of their home ground Highbury stadium.
Writing in February 2005 he described the stadium as a 'tiny junkyard', adding: 'How can someone get to like Arsenal? I tried to, but no way, I've been to several football stadiums, I must say Highbury was one of the least impressive, a tiny junkyard sought of place in the streets of London, what a pity!'
He also made reference to players Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard, writing: 'Lampard is really becoming a classy player. Now I think his better than Gerrard.
'Gerrard might regret leaving Liverpool, but somehow I want him to leave. He keeps on saying the team needs improving when he needs a lot to improve.
'He's getting more inconsistent with time and pressure is on him. He seems to be handling it pretty badly.'
Early investigations into the Christmas Day jet bomb have uncovered ‘systemic’ security flaws, Barack Obama said on Tuesday.
‘It is becoming clear that the system … is not sufficiently up to date,’ he said. ‘A systemic failure has occurred and I consider that totally unacceptable.’
The U.S President said information passed on to U.S. intelligence by Abdulmutallab’s father should have been acted on to stop him boarding the plane.
He had been concerned about his son’s behaviour and alerted both the U.S. and Nigerian authorities.
Mr Obama said the U.S. would have to act quickly to remedy the flaws in the security system.
Remnants of his murderous plot
These are the first extraordinary pictures of the deadly Al Qaeda bomb hidden in Abdulmutallab's underwear.
Both the clothing and remnants of the device bear the mark of the flames that erupted when the bomb was partially triggered as Northwest Airlines Flight 253 approached Detroit on Christmas Day.
The pictures emerged as MI5 investigated whether he had been in email contact with a Yemen-based radical imam, Abu Bakr al-Qirbi, while he was studying at University College London.
Abulmutallab is said to have told the FBI he was trained in Yemen by Al Qaeda operatives and had been in contact with former Guantanamo detainees.
Yesterday Yemeni authorities revealed that he had spent a year 'studying' there immediately before starting his British course in 2005, |
If the "Yemeni authorities" said what the Daily Mail says they did, then they are mistaken, or, the Daily Mail is mistaken.

Insha Allah starting late in MAy till October, i will be on summer vacation. How best to spend this holiday seeking islamic knowledge, rather than being tempted to take part in haram activities. At first i planned to go for a deen intensive course in july (i posted this event in the 'Coming Events' section) but then the Deen intensive was fully booked before i applied. Now i plan to do an arabic intensive course. I've always wanted to learn arabic. I want it to be like a second language to me so that i can read the quran like i read english text.
I applied for the ibn jabal arabic course in london (this is also on the 'Coming Events' section) but i started looking at other options elsewhere. I am convinced after reading the ibn jabal website and speaking to Brother Borbus that this is a very good course. But the only problem i have with this course is i can only do it for a maximum of 8 weeks. Considering i have 4-5 months of freetime, i would like to do more than 8 weeks. So another option i found was an arabic intensive course in Yemen (SIAL Yemen). This i could do up to 3 months from june to August. I also found out that some people go to somewhere in the middleEast maybe a year after they attend the ibn jabal course.
I've never been to Yemen but should i go there, i would be staying in a residence provided by the institution. If i go to london i would stay in our family apartment. And should i choose to go to london for the ibn jabal course, i would try and look for some courses to do. Like i found a 10 day course in leicester from 19th to 29th of august (Also in the 'Coming Events' section), which seems quite interesting. |

Assalamu alaykum
Alhamdulillah i finally got my wish. After a hard battle deciding where to go and what to do, i finally ended up in Yemen. I'm doing a 3 month arabic course and so far it is just great. There are a lot of Brits and Americans also studying in the Institute i'm studying in, Sana'a institute of Arabic Languages- http://www.sialyemen.com
Its fun too. The institute is actually like a border line between the Old ciyt of Sana'a for those who like a traditional, quiet and peaceful environment, and the new city of Sana'a where bustling like Cairo, with almost anything you want to find, accesceries, clothing (not the best in quality though), food (KFC, Pizza hut, Shawarmas, Italian, chinese, korean, pakistani(Chicken Biryani thumbsup.gif ), indian.....restaurants, gym, amusement parks (not as thrilling as the 7 flags or Alton Towers of course).
Its quite cheap too! For anyone who can afford it and wants to learn arabic, i say come to Sial. Some people have been to various places around the arab world such syria, palestine, egypt...learning arabic but while here at sial, they say its the best. The courses are flexible, it could be private one on one, choose your syllabus, bring your group over for large discounts. Female classes are seperate. Yemenis are so friendly and welcoming. They are very islamically modest. most of the women were niqabs. Yemen is a good place to study arabic for muslims and non muslims as well. there are several non muslims and they are really having a good time.
Hope i get time to tell you more about yemen and the course.
ma'assalam |
Not radicalised enough to keep his trip to Yemen for an Arabic course a secret then back in the summer of 2005.

More about Yemen and sial
I find the city beautiful and the whether cool as the city is about 2000m above sea level, so even the Brits aren’t complaining about the heat. There are students at the moment from Spain, France, Britain, US, Nigeria(me), Somalia, Canada, Pakistan, Indonesia, China and Italy, that’s all I know We just recently had a new student from Britain will be receiving another from Britain and US. The student average age is about 20-30. But young students are also welcome from 15 years of age I think. There are older students in their 40’s I think. There are married couples (I only met one though). There are more males than females. I don’t know the countries, age, their number etc of the women for Masha Allah most of them wear niqabs, so I don’t know whether I’ve been seeing the same ones over and over again or they are even more in number. There are students that do not study in the Ma’ahad but at their private homes. It is possible to acquire a private apartment rather than stay in hostels. The muslim women all acquire private apartment as far as I know and the classes are not mixed, although some male teachers teach female students due to the short number of female teachers.
There are good shops, supermarkets, etc so students don’t have to pack up to the teeth when coming to Yemen. Food is very cheap including posh restaurants.
If you really want to learn Arabic quickly I strongly suggest one to one tuition. If you have time to learn and relax then you can join the groups which are quite small, like 2-4 students usually in number. I switched from a group to one to one as sometimes you might be held back in class if some student’s are lagging behind.
We had a power cut for a few minutes once while I was here, so bring a touch light if you are weary about the power.
I have the pictures, i'll try and post them now bi-iznillah

i'm very sorry for the late reply. I've been busy in the ma'ahad and i hardly get time to come online.
It will be great to have you here in Yemen. I know exactly what your talking about, i had the same problem, i probably filled up the form online like 3 times and sent them tonnes of mails. Basically after you fill in the form with all the details, you have to pay before they process your application. Send a photocopy of your passport, pay by Western Union and they will process your visa and send it to you by mail. You just print it, book a flight buy a ticket, tell the ma'ahad your date of arrival and that's it.
Insha Allah i will be available if you need more information. May Allah guide you and help you learn the arabic language as you wish. SIAL is excellent for teaching you to speak, they teach you arabic like a mother teaches a child a language, it is very effective i think. I spoke to some people who are doing grammar arabic courses and i tell you they are not good when it comes to conversing in arabic, and i believe being able to speak is the basis of every language. Like now alhamdulillah i'm like a primary arabic school stusent. i can speak but i dont know all the grammar rules, i need to learn more vocabulary to become advanced.
Hope to hear from you again.

I am currently studying arabic in Yemen, and i advice if you want to learn arabic for the sake of the deen, learn fusha 9classical) arabic. this will help you understand the quran more, khutbas (friday sermons) and classical arabic islamic books and text. a good book that will get you speaking fusha with good grammar are the university of madinah books. there are other good ones but i specifically know the madinah books are good and some people become good arabic speakers by the time they are just in the second book.
make sure you practice and use what you learn from the book and if possible memorise some parts of it, its easy and beneficial.
If you want to learn arabic just for holidays then learn specific dialects, because the majority of the arabs speak their dialect only and little or no fusha at all.
Actually its very deceiving to me that there is any dialect that is very close to fusha. Some people say Yemeni dialect is the closest, some say jordanian. i can tell you for a fact that there are similarities but you will almost have no clue atimes when the yemeni or any other dialect is spoken. its possible to learn dialects though if you can speak another dialect or even fusha, but it doesn,t come automatically that you speak a dialect of fusha, so your fine will all dialects.
Dialect is not like American english or Australian... it is like a very very advanced slang, spoken with no grammar.
You can contact me if you have more enqueries and i will try to help you insha Allah. |

I am a foreign student in london and my parents are visiting at the moment and i am staying with them. I am of the view meat not slaughtered by muslims or people of the book is haram for consumption unless necessary. My parents are of the view as foreigners, we are allowed to say bismillah and eat any meat.
It occured to me i should not be eating with my parents as they use meat i consider haram. But i fear this might cause division and other complicated family problems.
I am allowed to eat the meat i consider haram with them, respecting their point of view and not causing any family division other the issue?
Please respond as quickly as possible as my tactic has been to eat outside and not at home till i get an answer.

Conclusion: He did not go to Yemen for a year before starting his British course in 2005 as reported by the Daily Mail. Period.
He was there in Yemen for an Arabic course in the weeks between finishing school around May / June 2005 and starting at UCL in the autumn of 2005.
Daily Mail wrote: | .... and investigators believe he may have been earmarked as a potential recruit then. He spent his second period there between August and December this year.
His attempt to blow up Flight 253 involved a six-inch packet of explosive powder sewn into the crotch of the underwear to avoid detection as he boarded the flight at Schipol Airport in Amsterdam.
The amount of explosive is one-and-a-half times more than that carried by British 'shoe bomber' Richard Reid when he tried to blow up a U.S-bound plane in 2001.
The hidden stash could have blown a hole the size of a basketball in the plane which had 290 on board.
Disaster was averted because the acid in the syringe he was using to detonate the device merely set his clothes on fire.
It has also emerged that while president of the Islamic Society at UCL in 2007, Abdulmutallab organised a week of events under the banner 'War on Terror', including a discussion entitled Jihad V Terrorism.
A poster advertising the week carries the name Umar Farook and includes events featuring former British Guantanamo detainee Moazzam Begg entitled Bring Our Boys Home.
Another was called And The War Goes On, with controversial MP George Galloway listed among the speakers. Mr Galloway denies ever having spoken at such an event. |

Qasim Rafiq had trouble reconciling the shocking news surrounding Umar Farouk AbdulMutallab with the college friend he knew: a pious and genuine person who was the president of an organization that condemned terrorist attacks.
AbdulMutallab raised money for charity, he liked soccer, he was social; he was quiet, humble and never came across as dangerous, Rafiq said.
"It's really difficult to see how he could have led a double life at the time, and afterward, it's anyone's guess as to what happened," Rafiq told CNN on Tuesday.
Rafiq does not believe AbdulMutallab became radicalized while at University College London. As a student, the man now accused of trying to blow up a jet was president of the school's Islamic Society from 2006 to 2007 -- a society, Rafiq said, that denounced the July 7, 2005, terrorist bombings in London.
If AbdulMutallab had ever shown signs of support for such attacks, he couldn't have become leader of the group, said Rafiq, who was president of the same society from 2005 to 2006. And from what Rafiq could remember, AbdulMutallab opposed fundamentalist Islamic views that encouraged such violence.
"It came as a complete shock when I heard the other day, when I heard the media reports and his name was coming up," Rafiq said. "It really didn't click, I didn't realize it was him until I actually saw a picture of him being dragged out of the plane."
AbdulMutallab didn't mention to Rafiq that he was against the United State's war in Iraq, but Rafiq admitted the two avoided talking politics. AbdulMutallab also did not mention a trip to Yemen, though a spokesman for the Yemen Embassy in Washington said he was there sometime between 2004 and 2005. He did say he traveled to Damascus, Syria, for a few months to study Arabic, of which he had a conversational grasp, Rafiq said.
The last time Rafiq talked to AbdulMutallab was about 13 or 14 months ago, Rafiq said. AbdulMutallab told him he planned to continue his studies in economics abroad. But then AbdulMutallab cut off contact with him and other friends they had in common, Rafiq said.
For now, Rafiq reminisces about a man that he played soccer with and shared meals with after Friday prayers. He said he does not know the man accused of trying to detonate an explosive while aboard a Northwest Airlines flight from Amsterdam, Netherlands, to Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day. He thinks that stranger is someone who was transformed after school, elsewhere.
Rafiq said if he could talk with AbdulMutallab, "I'd ask him firstly, what on Earth he thought he was doing and what he was trying to achieve, because if anything, it set back progress that many Muslims across the world were trying to make in terms of making it clear that Islam has nothing to do with terrorism and so on.
"Secondly, I'd like to ask him how he got to this state, because the Umar I knew is completely different to the Umar Farouk that we saw or have read about in the media reports. So what happened to him since he left the UK?"

Timeline of Terror: Clues in Bomber Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab's Past
Did officials miss important clues in tracking down Nigerian before failed plot?
By RUSSELL GOLDMAN and HUMA KHAN
Dec. 30, 2009
In hindsight, there were clues that alleged would-be "underwear bomber" Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab had become a dangerous person, and President Obama has said that it was "unacceptable" that those clues weren't spotted and acted upon.
During Abdulmutallab's transformation from the privileged son of a wealthy Nigerian banker to an al Qaeda trainee being taught to kill, he left a series of red flags. Now American and international law enforcement officials are trying to determine how Abdulmutallab was able to come so close to causing more terror in the skies.
Here is a look at the trail of clues Abdulmutallab left behind:
2005 to 2008: Abdulmutallab attends University College of London.
From 2006 to 2007, the 23-year-old engineering student was president of the school's Islamic Society, when he invited controversial speakers to talk about jihad.
June 16, 2008: Abdulmutallab granted Visa to the U.S.
Abdulmutallab is granted a two-year, multiple-entry visa to visit the U.S., which would expire on June 18, 2010.
August 2008 Abdulmutallab travels to the U.S. from London on an 11 day trip to Houston.
May 2009 The first alarm
The U.K denies Abdulmutallab's application to renew his student visa because he applied to study "life coaching" at a non-existent college.
August 2009 U.S. Visa Gives Him Entree to Terror Training
He arrives in Yemen, which admits him because he has a valid U.S. visa in his passport. He stays with an al Qaeda leader for about a month while being trained.
Nov. 11, 2009 First use of underwear bomb
Somali man is arrested trying to board a commercial airliner in Mogadishu carrying a syringe and explosives in his underwear – a homemade explosive device similar to the one Abdulmutallab was carrying on Christmas Day.
Quote: | WTF ? Where did that one spring from ? |
Quote: | Meanwhile, officials told The Associated Press on Wednesday that a man tried to board a commercial airliner in the Somali capital of Mogadishu last month carrying powdered chemicals, liquid and a syringe in a case bearing chilling similarities to the Detroit airliner plot.
The Somali man -- whose name has not yet been released -- was arrested by African Union peacekeeping troops before the Nov. 13 Daallo Airlines flight took off. It had been scheduled to travel from Mogadishu to the northern Somali city of Hargeisa, then to Djibouti and Dubai. A Somali police spokesman, Abdulahi Hassan Barise, said the suspect is in Somali custody. |
Source
Nov. 19, 2009 Clear warning
Abdulmutallab's father, wealthy Nigerian banker Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, met with CIA officials at the U.S. embassy in Nigeria and warned the Americans that he believed his son had been in contact with Muslim terrorists and that his son had met with militants in Yemen.
Nov. 20, 2009 Alert falls short
The embassy sent a cable to Washington with the information provided by Mutallab. The CIA sent a report to the National Counterterrorism Center. Abdulmutallab's name is added to the government's terror database, but it is not added to the Do Not Fly list.
U.S. officials also did not share Abdulmutallab's name with Yemen intelligence officials.
Dec. 25, 2009 The plot is put in motion
Abdulmutallab flies from Nigeria to Amsterdam, where he boards Flight 253 bound for Detroit. He paid for his $2,831 ticket in cash and carried no luggage. The 80 grams of the high-explosive chemical PETN strapped inside the crotch of his underwear went undetected. Abdulmutallab attempted to blow up the airline as it approached the airport, but the detonator failed to work and instead, Abdulmutallab's pants caught on fire. He was quickly subdued by other passengers.
Aftermath President Obama publicly addresses the incident for the first time on Monday as al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula claims responsibility for the attack and threatened more such plots. On Tuesday, Obama acknowledges security failures in the case of Abdulmutallab, saying the intelligence community had information that could have and should have been pieced together. Preliminary reports of the reviews Obama has ordered will be sent to the president Thursday.

Cheers Outsider. It's been raining here for the past couple of days so I had the time.
I've downloaded all of Farouks1986 posts on www.gawaher.com, so if anyone would like to read them off-line, without having to register there just PM me.
I've cropped the width of the screen grabs now so the thread is more readable.
I picked this up from your CiF thread.

well worth reading the whole article.

The Joys of Airstrikes and Anonymity
By Glenn Greenwald

Each time the U.S. bombs a new location in the Muslim world, the same pattern emerges. First, officials from the U.S. or allied governments run to their favorite media outlet to claim -- anonymously -- that some big, bad, notorious, "top" Al Qaeda leader "may have been" or "likely was" killed in the strike, and this constitutes a "stinging" or "devastating" blow against the Terrorist group. These compliant media outlets then sensationalistically trumpet that claim as the dominant theme of their "reporting" on the attack, drowning out every other issue.
As a result, and by design, there is never any debate or discussion over the propriety or wisdom of these strikes. After all, what sane, rational, Serious person would possibly question a bombing raid or missile strike that "likely" killed a murderous, top Al Qaeda fighter and struck a "devastating blow" to that group's operationg abilities? Having the story shaped this way also ensures that there is virtually no attention paid to the resulting civilian casualties (i.e., the slaughter of innocent people); most Americans, especially journalists, have been trained to ignore such deaths as nothing more than justifiable "collateral damage," especially when a murderous, top Al Qaeda fighter was killed by the bombs (besides, as Alan Dershowitz once explained, "civilians" in close enough proximity to a Top Terrorist themselves may very well bear some degree of culpability). The adolescent We-Got-the-Bad-Guy! headline also ensures there is no attention paid to the radicalizing effect of these civilian deaths and our attacks for that country and in the region.
Yet over and over and over, it turns out that these anonymous government assertions -- trumpeted by our mindless media -- are completely false. The Big Bad Guy allegedly killed in the strike ends up nowhere near the bombs and missiles. Sometimes, the very same Big Bad Guy can be used to justify different strikes over the course of many years (we know we said we killed him four times before, but this time we're pretty sure we got him), or he can turn up alive when it's time to re-trumpet the Al Qaeda threat (we said before we killed him in that devastating airstrike, but actually he's alive and more dangerous than ever!!). Just like the "we killed 30 extremists" claim or the "we got Al Qaeda's Number 3" boast, this is propaganda in its purest form, disseminated jointly by the U.S. Government and American media, and it happens over and over, compelling a rational person to conclude that it's clearly intentional by both parties.
[Ed: UK media is exactly the same]
In the last week alone, this pattern just asserted itself -- twice -- with regard to the air strikes in Yemen. The first set of strikes, it was immediately leaked, was allegedly aimed at "the presumed leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Qaaim al-Raymi," yet it turned out he was not among the dozens of people killed, though "U.S. officials believe one of his top deputies [unnamed] may have been killed." Then, after a second set of strikes on Thursday, it was claimed that "a Yemeni air raid may have killed the top two leaders of al Qaeda's regional branch," and an American Muslim preacher linked to Nidal Hasan, "the man who shot dead 13 people at a U.S. army base [Anwar al-Awlaki] may also have died."
But while ABC News had identified "the presumed leader of al Qaeda in Yemen" as "Qaaim al-Raymi" when he was the target of last week's strikes, Reuters decided that the "top two leaders of al Qaeda's regional branch" were completely different people -- "Nasser al-Wahayshi, the Yemeni leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and his Saudi deputy, Saeed al-Shehri" -- and then excitedly announced that they "may have been killed" by this week's air strikes. Whoever we claim we kill is the "key leader of Al Qaeda's operations"-- and it can change from day to day. And now, it turns out, the "radical cleric" who reportedly spoke at length with the accused Fort Hood shooter and thus packs the most emotional punch for Americans is not dead at all, but "is alive and well following reports he may have been killed in a Yemeni airstrike against suspected al-Qaida hideouts."
Just watch how this obvious propaganda tactic works again and again:
Last week's Yemen strike - ABC News, December 18, 2009:
The presumed leader of al Qaeda in Yemen, Qaaim al-Raymi, has frequently appeared on internet videos, . . . Qaaim al-Raymi was considered a prime target of the attack Thursday but was reported to have escaped the attack. However, U.S. officials believe one of his top deputies may have been killed.
This week's air strikes in Yemen, Reuters, December 24, 2009:
A Yemeni air raid may have killed the top two leaders of al Qaeda's regional branch on Thursday, and an American Muslim preacher linked to the man who shot dead 13 people at a U.S. army base may also have died, a Yemeni security official said. Nasser al-Wahayshi, the Yemeni leader of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), and his Saudi deputy, Saeed al-Shehri, were believed to be among more than 30 militants killed in the dawn operation in the eastern province of Shabwa, said the official, who asked not to be identified.
U.S.-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki may also have died in the air strike which targeted a meeting of militants planning attacks on Yemeni and foreign oil and economic targets, he said. If all the deaths are confirmed, the air strike would appear to have struck a severe blow against AQAP, seen as the most dangerous regional offshoot of Osama bin Laden's network.
False - Associated Press, December 25, 2009:
A U.S.-born radical cleric is alive and well following reports he may have been killed in a Yemeni airstrike against suspected al-Qaida hideouts . . .
In addition to al-Awlaki, the top leader of al-Qaida's branch in Saudi Arabia and Yemen, Naser Abdel-Karim al-Wahishi, and his deputy Saeed al-Shihri were also believed to be at the meeting, Yemen's Supreme Security Committee said. But Yemeni officials still have no access to the area, which is controlled by armed gunmen and supporters of al-Qaida, and could not confirm for certain who was killed in the attack.

False - Fox News, January 31, 2006 - "Zawahiri, in New Videotape, Says He Survived Airstrike":
Al Qaeda No. 2 Ayman al-Zawahiri said in a videotape aired Monday that President Bush was a "butcher" and a "failure" because of a deadly U.S. airstrike in Pakistan targeting the bin Laden deputy, and he threatened a new attack on the United States. A U.S. counterterrorism official, speaking on condition of anonymity in compliance with office policy, said there was no reason to doubt the authenticity of the tape.

"If Saad had been killed, al-Qaeda would have announced that," Saied told Al Arabiya. "They announced the death of many key figures in the organization before. It is considered a source of pride for them."
New York Times, December 23, 2009:
A teenage daughter of Osama bin Laden, who has lived with at least five of her siblings in a guarded compound in Iran since 2001, took refuge last month in the Saudi Embassy in Tehran . . . American officials said last summer that they believed that Saad bin Laden had traveled from Iran to Pakistan and had been killed by an American missile fired from a drone. Omar and Zaina bin Laden said Saad was still in the Tehran compound when the missile attack was said to have occurred, but they said that they did not know where he was now or whether he was still alive.

I could literally spend the rest of the day chronicling events very similar to these. A few caveats are in order. It's not surprising that facts are sometimes difficult to obtain in the immediate aftermath of a strike, particularly in remote areas such as Western Pakistan and Yemen. Sometimes, these air strikes do actually result in the death of the specific targets alleged to lead various Islamic radical groups.
But far more often, these boasting claims regarding a controversial U.S. air attack or missile strike turn out to be completely false. It's painfully obvious that these assertions are made to overwhelm, distort and suppress any discussions of the actual effects of the attack -- who the strike really killed, whether it was justified, legal or wise, whether we should continue to drop bombs in more and more Muslim countries. Yet no matter how many times these claims prove to be false, American media outlets not only dutifully and mindlessly print them without challenge or skepticism, but also allow these claims to dictate their headlines and the overwhelming focus of their "reporting" on the attacks (U.S. Air Strike Said to Kill Top Al Qaeda Leaders). As a result, Americans are innundated with false claims about things that never actually happened -- pure myths and falsehoods -- while the actual consequences of our actions (the corpses of innocent Muslim men, women and children being pulled from the rubble) are widely disseminated in the Muslim world, yet are barely mentioned by our media. And then we walk around, confounded and confused, about how there could be such a grave disparity in perception among our rational, free and well-informed selves versus those irrational, mislead, paranoid, and primitive Muslims.
Because it's all done under the corrupt cover of anonymity, there's never any accountability (reporters will simply say that they printed this because their government sources whispered it in their ears -- so what choice did they have? -- and they'll keep the government officials' identity concealed to ensure they can never be questioned). The whole process is blatantly designed not to convey what happened, but to obscure what happened and to prevent any discussion of its consequences.

What the world is waiting to know is what exactly happened to Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab in the exact 119 week period since his alleged internet persona, Farouk1986, last posted on www.gewaher.com on 14.9.2007 and the alleged attempt to blow up a passenger jet on Christmas Day 2009 with PETN explosives hidden in his pants?
119 weeks to radicalise a young, wealthy, apparently pious Muslim student who had everything to live for, into an alleged asset of Al Qaeda in the Arab Peninsula, willing to commit suicide and murder hundreds of other innocent civilians.
What turned this Farouk1986, who on September 14th 2007, as an Engineering undergraduate at University College London, whilst living in this:
was discussing the benefits of saying extra prayers during the Holy Month of Ramadan:
into this ?
and this ?
So what was it, exactly, that radicalised him in the intervening 119 weeks ? _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

Preliminary investigations yield more details on Nigerian terror bomber
Lagos - Pana 27/12/2009
Preliminary investigations by the regulatory Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) have yielded more details on the itinerary of Umar Farouk Mutallab, son of a prominent Nigerian banker who was alleged to have attempted to blow up a passenger plane in the US Friday.
The Nigerian government ordered a top level probe of the incident, which has further worsened Nigeria's image in the global arena, while the NCAA launched its own investigations, which revealed that Mutallab, 23, indeed travelled out of Nigeria, though he bought his ticket in Accra, Ghana.
According to NCAA boss Harold Demuren, Mutallab boarded a KLM flight to Amsterdam at 2035 local time at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport in Lagos.
"This was also corroborated by the Close Circle Television (CCTV) footage. The passenger did not check in any baggage but was spotted with a shoulder bag. The passenger went through a normal checking process. His passport was scanned. His US visa was scanned and the Advanced Passenger Information System returned with no objection,'' Demuren told journalists here Saturday evening.
The NCAA official also revealed that the suspect's e-ticket was purchased from KLM airport office in Accra 16 Dec., while the ticket was paid for in US$2, 831 cash.
He said the suspect's original route was Lagos-Amsterdam-Detroit-Amsterdam-Accra but that he later changed to Lagos-Amsterdam-Detroit-Amsterdam-Lagos.
"The return journey was booked for Jan. 8, 2010 out of Detroit to arrive Lagos on Jan. 9, 2010. No contact address or telephone contact was given by the purchaser of the ticket at the time of purchase,'' he said, adding that the suspect indeed carried a Nigerian Machine Readable Passport (MRP) with passport number A3921640 issued on 15 Sept., 2005, with the expiration date put at 14 Sept., 2010.
Demuren also disclosed that the suspect had a multiple entry US visa, issued in London 16 June 2008 and due to expire 12 June, 2010.
Eyebrows have been raised over how the suspect, whose father, Alhaji Umar Abdul Mutallab recently retired as Chairman of First Bank - one of Nigeria's foremost financial institutions - was able to beat security checks at the MMA in Lagos.
Local newspapers Sunday wondered how Mutallab was able to beat security checks in Lagos and Amsterdam, after Demuren said Mutallab indeed passed through aviation security system comprising of walk-through metal detector and baggage X-ray screening machine at the Lagos airport.
He said Nigerian authorities were willing and prepared to assist in any investigation that would unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident, and assured travellers and the international community that Nigeria aviation was safe and secured-having passed the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) audit and US Transport Security Administration (TSA) audit.

According to Bilderberg expert, Daniel Estulin, the global elite has decided that Africa is the next continent to develop a continent-wide government. They want to use the World Bank and IMF to create a borderless continent. The idea hijacks a long-held aim of Pan-Africanists to create a government for Africa.
The elite fear that China, hunting for resources in Africa, will displace them. But they don't want to do it by making better trade deals. Subversion is their best bet. They wish to use Africom is a base for destabilising countries. Some national disaster or engineered national conflict will push African leaders into an African government that is led by the Western elite.
The engineered growth of Al Qaeda in black Africa may help and this is why the Nigerian bomb hoax happened.
I think that Mutallab's father pressured his son into doing this. It may be that he owes money or the UK has something on him. This is why Mutallab didn't make any real effort to stop his son. The visit to the US embassy was putting the final agreement to the exercise.
Afterall, given that Afghanis who have suffered Western aggression don’t blew themselves up in effort to take Westerners with them, why on Earth should a Nigerian?
By the way, thanks to Mark Gobell, who has done a lot of excellent research. I'll publicise his work to black newspapers. |

Now UK to have body scanners at airports: It will mean longer queues for flights... but you will be safer
By Tim Shipman and Kirsty Walker
Last updated at 1:16 AM on 01st January 2010
Millions of airline passengers will have to pass through body scanners in a major security crackdown, Gordon Brown will say today.
The UK and U.S. will use every possible technology to fight the Al Qaeda threat.
Introducing scanners, on transatlantic flights at least, will provide protection against terrorists but could lead to delays.
The £100,000 machines produce what is effectively a nude picture of the body.
They can detect small amounts of concealed explosives such as those used by syringe bomber Farouk Abdulmutallab in his failed attack over Detroit on Christmas Day.
His aides said he wanted to make a 'major intervention' in the security debate. Britain has just one body scanner in operation, in a trial at Manchester.
Another four at Heathrow are not in use. Experts say at least 25 would be needed just to cover transatlantic flights from Heathrow, but a Government source said last night: 'Cost is not an issue'.
The scans have been described by critics as a 'virtual strip search', outlining every contour of the body in detailed anatomical images.
They are already used in some airports in other countries, including the U.S..
Although scanners are supposed to speed up security - passengers do not have to take off shoes, belts and coats or have 'pat down' searches - it will take time for airport staff to use them efficiently. There could be delays as hundreds of passengers queue at the machines.
Security row: Ministers have been accused of 'napping' over the delayed introduction of the scanners in Britain (Amsterdam's Schiphol airport pictured)
Mr Brown's letter came after ministers were accused of putting lives at risk by failing to order the scanners into action at British airports.
Downing Street officials urged the public not to see the machines as a panacea. 'They're only as good as the people operating them,' one said last night. 'They won't solve the problem on their own.'
No 10 also denied that Mr Brown has been shown intelligence of an impending terrorist attack against the UK. But they made clear that his letter was a timely reminder to the public that the threat has not evaporated.
The Premier says he will hold talks with President Barack Obama to ensure equipment is available to combat the 'evolving' new hi-tech terror threat.
He writes: 'We need to continually explore the most sophisticated devices capable of identifying explosives, guns, knives and other such items anywhere on the body.
'These could include advancing our use of explosive trace technology, full body scanners and advanced X-ray technology. We will move things forward quickly.'
Mr Brown's letter says: 'The new decade is starting as the last began - with Al Qaeda creating a climate of fear.
‘The failed attack in Detroit on Christmas Day reminds us of a deeper reality - that almost ten years after September 11, international terrorism is still a very real threat.'
The Prime Minister says he will act quickly if a review he has ordered into terrorist-watch list results in a recommendation to ban people who are barred from entering the country from setting foot in a UK airport, even as a transit passenger.
He writes: 'We all urgently need to work together on how we might further tighten these arrangements, in particular, at what point suspects are added to the list and when they are deemed too risky to be allowed to fly or leave or enter the country, and also into wider airport security.
Mr Brown calls the Yemen, where the syringe bomb plot originated, a terrorist threat to rival Pakistan and Afghanistan.
He said Britain will now help set up a 'Friends of Yemen group' with Middle Eastern countries to help the government there combat Al Qaeda. The UK has already committed £100million in aid to Yemen by next year.
The announcement of support for body scanners was greeted with scepticism. Tory transport spokesman Theresa Villiers said the Government had been 'caught napping'.
Liberal Democrat spokesman Norman Baker said: 'The Government ought to have made more progress in deploying these scanners. Ministers face serious questions about why they have not been introduced with much greater urgency.
'Once again the Department for Transport looks flat-footed and the price is being paid by hundreds of thousands of people going through our airports.'
Shami Chakrabarti, director of the civil liberties group Liberty, said: 'We all take our security seriously but we need to learn the lessons of the recent past. Any response to terrorism has to be proportionate and respectful of the values of dignity, privacy and liberty that governments on both sides of the Atlantic have been all too easily tempted to ignore.

MI5 knew of Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab’s UK extremist links
David Leppard
* 44 Comments
The security services knew three years ago that the Detroit bomber had “multiple communications” with Islamic extremists in Britain, it emerged this weekend.
Counterterrorism officials said Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was “reaching out” to extremists whom MI5 had under surveillance while he was studying at University College London.
Officials said the 23-year-old Nigerian was “starting out on a journey” in Britain that culminated in his attempt to bring down flight 253 as it prepared to land in Detroit, Michigan, on Christmas Day.
None of the information was passed to American officials, which will prompt questions about intelligence failures prior to the attack.
British officials have now passed a file to their US counterparts on Abdulmutallab’s activities in Britain while he was a student from 2005 to 2008. It shows his repeated contacts with MI5 targets who were subject to phone taps, email intercepts and other forms of surveillance.
Intelligence officials have defended their decision not to flag Abdulmutallab as a possible terrorist risk. They say he was one of many youths who mix with extremists, but are not themselves thought to be involved in plotting or supporting terrorism.
A senior Whitehall official said the intelligence agency had conducted a quick assessment of Abdulmutallab while he was living in London and concluded that he was not a threat to national security.
“There had to be a judgment made depending on the nature of the relationship as to whether there was any threat,” said one official. “Someone will have judged: okay, [he is] noted but if there was no evidence of a threat, [they would] move on.”
British officials believe Abdulmutallab was recruited to undertake the Detroit plot after he left Britain, most probably while he was in Yemen last summer. Up to a dozen young British Muslims are thought to be engaged in terrorist training there, according to officials.
While in Britain, Abdulmutallab attended a mosque in Goodge Street, central London, which is run by the Muslim World League, a Saudi-based organisation. The league promulgates a fundamentalist interpretation of Islam, but has repeatedly condemned terrorism.
One of the radical preachers believed to have inspired Abdulmutallab is the American-born cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who is based in Yemen and is believed to have inspired several terrorist cells in Britain and the United States.
The Sunday Times has established that Abdulmutallab first encountered Awlaki while he was studying Arabic in Yemen in 2005.
US intelligence officials are now investigating the scale and nature of contacts between the two men.
— Britain and the US are to jointly fund a counter-terrorism police unit in Yemen along with more support for the Yemeni coastguard. Downing Street said Gordon Brown and President Barack Obama had agreed the move as part of the response to the failed Detroit plot. The two countries will also be pushing for more UN intervention to tackle the emerging terrorist threat in Somalia.
Mr Brown will hold talks with ministerial colleagues and intelligence advisors this week, and the initial findings of a review of security at UK airports — ordered in the wake of the Detroit incident — will be delivered “in days”, according to Downing Street.

Involving Trinity Of The CIA, Mossad, and RAW.

Intelligence sources: Plane incident a false flag involving trinity of CIA, Mossad, and RAW.
The Christmas Day attempt by the Nigerian son of a prominent Nigerian banker and business tycoon connected closely to top Nigerian leaders to detonate a chemical improvised explosive device aboard Delta Airlines flight 253 from Amsterdam Schiphol to Detroit was a false flag operation carried out by the intelligence tripartite grouping of the CIA, Mossad, and India's Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), according to WMR's Asian intelligence sources who closely monitor the activities of the three agencies in India and Southeast Asia.
The tripartite alliance of the CIA, Mossad, and RAW were behind the terrorist attacks on Mumbai earlier this year and on December 28, Rupee News reported the three agencies worked together, along with former Afghan KHAD intelligence agents, to assassinated former Pakistani Prime Minister Benazir Bhutto: "The Benazir assassination was pre-planned and executed via triangulation by Khad, RAW, CIA and Mossad using the most modern radio active weapons available in the market. The Israeli PM publicly admitted helping India in Kargil recently. The purpose of the covert Khad, RAW, CIA, Mossad operations is to destabilize Pakistan. The IMF plan to de-fang Pakistan in 2000 did not work, but provincial autonomy will make the center bankrupt triggering an implosion."
The outcome of the failed terrorist attempt by Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab on the Detroit-bound plane has resulted in major Christmas gifts for the neocons and militarists who still call the shots on U.S. policy: the deployment of privacy-invasive millimeter wave (MMW) full body scanning equipment at airports in North America and Europe [ranking member of the House Homeland Security Committee, Representative Peter King (R-NY), who is an ardent defender of the Catholic Church and its prelates in Ireland, has defended the scanning system which can image the naked bodies of passengers, including children and babies], an increase in the U.S. military and intelligence presence in Yemen, retention of US PATRIOT Act surveillance provisions, an increase in racial profiling of Arabs and Muslims -- and because Mutallab is African -- blacks in the United States, and more cumbersome travel restrictions for airline passengers.
The neocon propagandists are already spinning counter-claims to reports that indicate that Mutallab was a witting accomplice of a larger plot cooked up by American, Israeli, ajd Indian intelligence agents to carry out yet another false flag terror operation on American soil. The eyewitness testimonies of Michigan attorney Kurt Haskell and his attorney wife Lori Haskell are being pilloried by the corporate media after the two were featured on major U.S. television networks. Haskell and his wife witnessed a "well-dressed Indian man" arrange for Mutallab to board Delta 253 without a passport at the check-in desk at Schiphol. Haskell told CBS News: "Only the Indian man spoke, and what he said was, this man needs to board the plane, and he doesn't have a passport. And the ticket agent then responded saying you need a passport to board the plane, and the Indian man then said he's from Sudan. We do this all the time."
WMR has learned that the Indian man is suspected by Asian intelligence services of being an RAW agent who used his influence to convince airline and airport security personnel that Mutallab was a bona fide Sudanese refugee. Mutallab reportedly spent several hours in a Schiphol airport lounge before boarding the Delta flight. Dutch agents are reportedly scanning Schiphol CCTV footage and have reason to believe that Mutallab had accomplices at the airport, which bolsters the witness accounts of the Haskells. The FBI has interviewed the Haskells and the bureau, as is its modus operandi, appears to be intimidating witnesses and pressuring them to support the government's party line.
The neocon spin machine is also refuting reports that Mutallab traveled to the United States without a passport and that his ticket was only one-way. The facts emerging are that Mutallab was not traveling on a Nigerian passport but on an Italian passport. Mutallab's father, Alhaji Umaru Mutallab, happens to hold the Italian Order of Merit. In addition, Mutallab's ticket was purchased in Accra, Ghana with $2,831 in cash and was later re-issued, on December 16, with a different itinerary at the KLM office in Lagos. The original itinerary was Lagos-Amsterdam-Detroit-Amsterdam-Accra but the return leg on January 8, 2010, was changed from Amsterdam to Lagos instead of Accra.
Previously, WMR reported that the security company that cleared Mutallab in Schiphol is ICTS, a firm that is headquartered in Israel and Amstelveen, Netherlands. The firm also cleared attempted shoe bomber Richard Reid for a Miami-bound American Airlines flight from Paris in December 2001. Reid, who was bound for Antigua, was profiled after he purchased his ticket at a travel agency in the 18th arrondisement in Paris. Reid had previously traveled to Turkey, Pakistan, Israel, Egypt, the Netherlands, Belgium and France and he obtained pentaerythritol tetranitrate (PETN), a component of the explosive Semtex, and his specially-designed shoes in Amsterdam. Reid was linked by French authorities to French convert to Islam Jerome Courtailler, who, in 2004, was sentenced in absentia by a Dutch court to six years for plotting to attack U.S. targets in Belgium and France. Mutallab's undershorts also contained PETN.
There is a possibility that Mutallab was recruited to carry out a false flag attack after another one failed on November 13. A Somali man was arrested at Mogadishu airport with the same chemicals, powder, and syringe combination that Mutallab used to ignite his clothing. The Somali man was attempting to board a Daallo Airlines flight from Mogadishu to Hargeisa, the capital of Somaliland, Djibouti, and Dubai.
Daallo is the national flag carrier of Djibouti and is owned by Dubai World's Istithmar World Aviation (IWA) Holdings. Dubai World's recent financial woes sent shock waves through the global financial community. It is also noteworthy that Delta 253 passenger Jasper Schuringa, the young man who wrestled Mutallab to the ground and prevented him from carrying out his terrorist mission, was driven to Schiphol on Christmas morning by his friend Chris Van Amersfoort. Van Amersfoort's Facebook page lists himself as a "fan of" Dubai World's owner "His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al-Maktoum," the Emir of Dubai.
Daallo Airlines has an interline agreement with a single U.S. airline, which happens to be Delta Airlines, the same airline that saw Mutallab successfully board its flight 253 in Schiphol. The ahas similar agreements with other airlines that fly to the United States, including Qatar Airways, Saudia, Ethiopian Airlines, and Alitalia.
Schuringa's father works for Shell and in 1993 they were evacuated by the French foreign Legion from Gabon during riots by demonstrators opposed to the tainted re-election of Gabon's presidential dictator Omar Bongo. The Curacao-born Jasper Schuringa attended film school in Miami and he also lived in Oman. After accusations in the media that he was publicizing himself over the Muttalab incident, Schuringa largely receded from public view. Schuringa was en route to Costa Rica via Detroit to visit his sister. The National Counter-terrorism office in The Hague is being mum about any connections it had with Schuringa, according to the Dutch paper Parool.
On October 18, a little less than a month prior to the attempt by the syringe- and chemical-armed Somali to board the Daallo Airlines flight from Mogadishu, Shaykh Muqtaar Abu Zubeyr, the leader of Somalia's radical Al Shahab Islamic Movement, warned Somalis in leaflets distributed in Mogadoshu's Bakaraha market and other points in the city not to fly on Daallo Airlines, Somalia's largest carrier, because he said the airline had "close ties" with the Transitional Federal Government of Somalia, the United States and the "Jewish government" of Israel.
Before moving from Egypt, Mutallab was in an MBA course in Dubai at the time of the Daallo warning. Mutallab later dropped out of school in Dubai.
Mutallab's father Umaru, the retired Chairman of First Bank of Nigeria (FBN), is among the top elite of Nigeria, counting among his friends the top royalty of northern Nigeria, including the Emir of Gombe, the Emir of Zazzau, and the Sultan of Sokoto, as well as Nigerian President Umaru Musa Yar' Adua, who has been recovering from a mysterious illness in Saudi Arabia. Mutallab's empire included FBN (UK), which its president described as "the very first UK bank owned by a Nigerian bank and could be counted as an equal to other UK banks." Mutalan was also a contender to be President of the National Council of the Nigeria Stock Exchange. In 2003, Mutallab formed Nigeria's first Islamic bank, Jaiz International Bank.
The same bureaucratic stove-piping issues used by the U.S. intelligence and law enforcement communities to explain away the lack of intelligence on the 9/11 attacks are at play with the Delta 253 incident. Of course, all these problems were to have been solved by the creation of the Department of Homeland Security and the Directorate of National Intelligence. Mutallab was entered as a terrorist suspect in the Terrorist Identities Datamart Environment (TIDE) database of 500,000 names maintained by the Director of National Intelligence's National Counter-terrorism Center (NCTC) but not on the "no fly" list maintained by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA).
On November 19, just six days after the Somali attempted to board the plane in Mogadishu with a syringe and chemicals, the elder Mutallab met with the CIA Station Chief at the U.S. embassy in Abuja, the Nigerian capital. Mutallab told the CIA official that he was concerned about the radicalization of his son, who was called "Alfa" -- a term for Islamic scholar -- while attending the British International School in Lome, Togo. The elder Mutallab was quite emphatic that his son posed a significant security risk.
After dropping out of the MBA program in Dubai, the younger Mutallab turned off his cell phone and destroyed the phone's SIM card before leaving Dubai for Yemen where it is said he wished to imrove his Arabic. It is not known who bought Mutallab's ticket to Detroit in Accra and why the return destination was changed from Accra to Lagos. Mutallab's multiple entry visa for the United States was issued on June 16, 2008 with an expiration date of June 16, 2010.
In response to the elder Mutallab's warning, the U.S. embassy in Abuja, the embassy sent a Visa Viper cable to the State Department and NCTC on November 20. However, Mutallab's name was not added to the no-fly list. The State Department is refusing to disclose the classification of Mutallab's visa and State Department spokesman Ian Kelly is refusing to reveal information on Mutallab's visa application.
The Daily Trust of Abuja penned the following editorial in the aftermath of the flight 253 incident: "The story caused anxiety among regular air travellers, not only for the safety of planes, but also for the kind of reception that Nigerian travellers to Europe and the US, especially Muslim ones, are likely to get in the next months and years.
The story also excited Northern Nigeria's many conspiracy theorists, who think another grand Western plot is in the offing to tarnish the image of Muslims, possibly as a prelude to another invasion." The editorial added, "Among officials of Nigeria's embattled Federal Government, though, the story caused a mix of anxiety and relief. Anxiety, because it threatens to throw this country's fitful Rebranding Campaign into further chaos. But it provided welcome relief from endless newspaper commentaries on President Yar'adua's health."
The Nigerians are obviously suspicious also about those behind the attempt on the aircraft. The Abuja editorial continues: "Bringing down a plane is not a thought that comes easily to people in Northern Nigeria. Most people here, with me as a typical example, cannot breathe easily in a plane until it hits the tarmac. A man who holds fast to a plane's aluminium frame for support during a turbulent take-off hardly can think of bombing it. This explosive substance that Faruk allegedly used in the Delta Airlines plane, pentaerythritol or PETN, may be known to British school kids, but I have never heard of it. To think that I once taught in a university's Faculty of Science.
If indeed Faruk told the Americans that he was an Al-Qaeda operative, then he was a very poor one, to be frank. His bomb, which he said he got in Yemen, was weak [exploding like a fire cracker] and technically deficient [failed to go off properly].
He was easily subdued by a film producer, did not struggle when he was grabbed, did not say anything when they held him, and almost as soon as he reached the FBI station, he began to sing like a canary. Sounds very much like the gentle British lad that he is."

US shuts embassy as al-Qaeda 'plans attack in Yemen'
Page last updated at 22:32 GMT, Sunday, 3 January 2010
The US has indications that al-Qaeda is planning an attack in the Yemeni capital Sanaa, President Barack Obama's top counter-terrorism adviser has said.
John Brennan was speaking after the US and UK announced their embassies in Sanaa had temporarily closed.
The US has accused a Yemen-based offshoot of al-Qaeda of being behind the alleged Christmas Day bomb attempt on a US jet flying to Detroit.
There are mounting fears that Yemen is becoming a leading al-Qaeda haven.
Mr Brennan, the US deputy national security adviser for homeland security and counterterrorism, told ABC the group had "several hundred members" in Yemen and was posing an increasing threat there.
"We know that they have been targeting our embassy, our embassy personnel," he said.
Speaking separately to CNN, he said there were indications that a radical US cleric of Yemeni origin had links both to the Christmas Day bomber and the man accused of the Fort Hood shooting massacre.
Links to cleric
Last week an organisation called al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula urged Muslims to help in "killing every crusader who works at their embassies or other places".
In an internet statement, the group also said it was behind an attempt to bomb a transatlantic airliner on Christmas Day.
On Saturday, President Barack Obama said the organisation appeared to have trained 23-year-old Nigerian accused Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, who is being held in a US prison.
Mr Brennan said there were "indications" that Mr Abdulmutallab had had direct contact with radical cleric Anwar al-Awlaki, who has been on the run in Yemen since December 2007.
It was clear, he said, that Mr Awlaki had also been in touch with Nidal Malik Hasan, the US army major charged with killing 13 people at Fort Hood last year.
It was not immediately clear when the UK or US embassies in Sanaa would reopen.
In a statement on its website, the US embassy said it would be closed on Sunday "in response to ongoing threats by al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula to attack American interests in Yemen".
The embassy also reminded US citizens in Yemen to be aware of security.
A Foreign Office spokeswoman said the British embassy was closed on Sunday and a decision would be taken later on whether to open it on Monday.
Hours earlier, UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown told the BBC: "This is a new type of threat and it is from a new source which is obviously Yemen, but there are many other potential sources Somalia, as well as Afghanistan and Pakistan."
The US mission in Sanaa was the target of an attack in September 2008, which was blamed on al-Qaeda, and in which 19 people died, including a young American woman.
US aid
Also on Saturday, Gen David Petraeus, head of US military operations in the Middle East and Central Asia, visited Yemeni President Ali Abdallah Saleh to pledge US support for its fight with al-Qaeda.
The visit came a day after the general announced that the US would more than double counter-terrorism aid to Yemen this year.
The US provided $67m (£41m) in training and support to Yemen last year; only Pakistan receives more, with about $112m, according to AP news agency.
Yemeni officials said on Saturday they had sent more troops to fight al-Qaeda militants in the provinces of Abyan, Baida and Shabwa.
"These measures are part of operations to hunt down elements of al-Qaeda... and tighten the noose around extremists," a Yemeni official told AFP news agency.
Analysts say the US has also provided intelligence to Yemeni forces, which carried out raids last month that reportedly left dozens of militants dead.
In his weekly address on Saturday, President Obama said militant training camps in Yemen had already "been struck, leaders eliminated, plots disrupted".
Correspondents say the security situation in Yemen is complicated by an abundance of firearms, an insurgency in the north and a secessionist movement in the south.
But the prospects of re-asserting central government authority over the lawless areas where al-Qaeda is based look, in the opinion of some analysts, remote - even with beefed-up American support. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

I notice that Britain severed diplomatic relations with Yemen last night.
The final step before another 'undeclared' war. #
PR people @ MoD have identified severing Diplomatic Relations as the wrong story so have dressed it up as a simple 'embassy closure'.
Fie on the FO spin machine blagards.

Britain and the U.S. keep Yemen embassies closed amid concern over militant attacks

Security forces killed two suspected Al-Qaeda militants in clashes outside the Yemeni capital as Britain and the United States kept their embassies in Yemen closed for a second day.
An aide to President Obama has said the United States had indications Al Qaeda was planning an attack in Sana'a.

Yemeni soldiers greet U.S. embassy staff: The building closed yesterday in response to ongoing Al-Qaeda threats
'The embassy is still closed again today ... We are continuing to make the security review,' a U.S. diplomat said.
Britain has cited security reasons for its embassy's closure without elaborating.
In Monday's clashes, security forces attacked a group of Al-Qaeda militants including Nazeeh al-Hanaq, a senior figure on Yemen's most wanted list, as they moved through the mountainous area of Arhab.
Al-Hanaq escaped, but two fighters with him were killed in the battle, the officials said.
Yemen is facing a Shia Muslim rebellion in the north and separatist protests in the south.
The country has tightened security on its coast to stop Islamist militants infiltrating from Somalia.
Authorities had put Al Qaeda militants in two coastal provinces under round-the-clock surveillance after Somali militants said they were ready to send reinforcements for Al Qaeda in Yemen.
Western allies have sought to bolster Yemen's government for fear that Al Qaeda might exploit the country's instability to launch more attacks across the globe.

The Nigerian man charged with trying to bomb a Detroit-bound passenger plane on Christmas Day is believed to have received training from Al Qaeda in Yemen.
Al Qaeda said the bombing attempt was retaliation for U.S. involvement in Yemen and its military support for the state, which has launched an offensive against the militants.
Spain's embassy in Yemen had restricted access but remained open yesterday, the Spanish government said.
El Mundo newspaper said the embassy would be closed to the public on Monday.
Elsewhere, Saudi Arabian warplanes killed 16 Yemenis in a barrage of strikes over two days in the Yemen-Saudi border area.
The Houthi rebels - named after their leader Abdul-Malik al-Houthi - said on their website six people were killed and six more wounded when strikes destroyed two houses on Sunday.
Ten people were killed and another 13 wounded in a market in another area on Saturday.
Shia rebels from the Zaidi sect in northern Yemen have fought government troops since 2004, complaining of social, economic and religious marginalisation.
The conflict, which has killed hundreds and displaced tens of thousands, drew in neighbouring Saudi Arabia in November when rebels staged a cross-border incursion into the world's biggest oil exporter.
Yemeni warplanes also struck targets in the Saada region on Sunday, pounding it with rockets and mortar fire, the rebels said. The rebels said they had disabled an armoured vehicle and toppled a tank into a valley. |

Just to focus on the hard facts the MSM are Censoring for a mo.
Michigan couple claims it saw Nigerian terror suspect trying to board Flight 253 without a passport
http://www.nydailynews.com/news/national/2009/12/28/2009-12-28_did_he_ board_without_a_passport.html
Sunday, December 27th 2009, 11:00 PM
A Michigan couple on the Detroit-bound flight that was almost blown up Christmas Day say they saw the Nigerian terror suspect trying to board without a passport.
Kurt and Lori Haskell, both bankruptcy lawyers, told the Daily News they saw a sharply dressed Indian man in his 50s - who did not get on the flight - trying to talk an Amsterdam gate agent into letting the suspect board Northwest Airlines Flight 253 without his passport.
If the suspect did get on the plane without showing his passport, the security lapse would be the most shocking yet.
Nigerian authorities said Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, 23, left Lagos on a KLM flight to Amsterdam with a valid Nigerian passport - No. A3921640.
It was not immediately clear if he showed the passport at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport.
The Haskells, who were playing cards on the floor near the Northwest check-in desk in Amsterdam, say they saw Abdulmutallab, 23, with an escort who was arguing with the gate agent.
"He said, 'He needs to get on this plane, but he doesn't have a passport.' The ticket-taker said something like, 'You can't board without a passport.' The Indian man said, 'He is from Sudan, we do this all the time,'" said Lori Haskell.
"I think they were trying to make this guy look like a Sudanese refugee and take pity on him," she said.
"He was dressed all kind of poor," she said, while the Indian man was wearing a "more expensive suit than we would wear to court."
The gate agent said they would have to talk with a supervisor and took them away. Kurt Haskell said the terrorist, who looked like a teenager, never said a word. The Haskells say they didn't notice him again until they were all 10 minutes from landing.
Then flames were licking up the side of the plane, a flight attendant was spraying a fire extinguisher and passengers were jumping on Abdulmutallab.
Kurt Haskell said the battle lasted just seconds. "He didn't fight back at all," he said.
The Haskells, who were returning to Newport, Mich., from a safari in Uganda, said the passengers were held in the Detroit airport for six hours. While waiting, they say, they saw a different Indian man taken away in handcuffs after a bomb-sniffing dog was alerted to his carry-on bag. _________________ www.lawyerscommitteefor9-11inquiry.org

Nigeria: Lawmakers Divided Over Mossad - FG Link
Tashikalmah Hallah and Francis Okeke
5 September 2008
Members of the National Assembly have expressed different opinions on the alleged invitation of Israeli intelligence agency to train the country's security operations under a secret security pact.
Former Chairman House of Representatives Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Rep Abdullahi Farouk (PDP, Kebbi State), said Nigeria does not need Mossad or any foreign intelligence organisation to train the country's security agents because Nigeria has the best security training institution in the country.
However, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on National Security and Intelligence, Senator Nuhu Aliyu, said he supports the alleged security pact with Israeli. He said "They (Mossad) are professionals and they are here to help train our own intelligence agents. I don't see anyway by which their presence in the country pose any threat to our National Security."
Speaking with Daily Trust in an interview, Rep Farouk said "You see, this question demeans Nigeria which is a big country. You need to know that in this continent Africa, Nigeria is the country that is providing security training for other nations and I don't think this issue will even arise. We have the best defence academy in Nigeria and it is even a degree awarding institution; the NDA Kaduna. They are also training people from other continents. So, I do not want to believe this; I think that is trash".
Although, Farouk said he could not deny or confirm the allegation since the security outfits can speak for themselves, he said Nigeria has its own pride to keep.
"I know as a Nigerian and also as a member of the National Assembly, we, as a country must jealously guard our own territorial integrity, our own respect as a nation and we should not allow people without proper invitation to come to our country for any negative act that would be detrimental to our collective resolve and national interest".
Also speaking to Daily Trust in a telephone interview, Senator Aliyu said the presence of Mossad in the country does not in any way pose threat to the internal security and sovereignty of Nigeria.
He said "as one of the best intelligence agency in the world, Nigeria stands to benefit a lot from the training arrangement between the Mossad and her security agencies.
Relevant Links
"Israel is about the best country in the world in terms of intelligence and security. We are not giving away anything except that our own agents will benefit from their wealth of experience during the training".
On whether the training agreement has any link with insinuations by some foreign countries that terrorists groups exist in Nigeria, the Senator said, "I don't think so. Really I want to say that there is no link between such intelligence report and what is going on now. They are only here to impact on our intelligence agents. There is no way it will affect our national security negatively."
Aliyu therefore called on Nigerians not lose sleep on the matter saying, "We are not giving anything away. I want to assure all Nigerians that the agreement will not affect the country's security."

LOL Hi Scuba.
Modern convention has it that 1 is not now considered a Prime.
I've discovered that it used to be though and only recently found out that the likes of Aleister Crowley in all his Magick considered 1 to be Prime also.
Apparently, if 1 is a Prime then the entire basis of mathematics would crumble. I don't understand it and can't explain it, much like the square root of minus 1.
I've only just started to examine the use of primes in deciphering the date patterns and relationships.
Prime Factors are used in some encryption systems. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan.

Farouk1986, the alleged forum user name of Umar Farouk Abdul Mutallab posted some potentially incriminating comments about his fantasy of Jihad.

Assalamu Alaykum,
Alright, i wont go into too much details about me fantasy, but basically they are jihad fantisies.

Erm which set of lies should we be telling today Gordon?
The Daily MI5o6oGraph wrote: |
White House accuses Downing Street of making 'a mistake' over intelligence claim
The White House has accused Downing Street of making a mistake over allegations that Britain told American intelligence agents more than a year ago that the Detroit bomber had links to extremists.
By Robert Winnett, Duncan Gardham and Toby Harnden in Washington
Published: 7:06AM GMT 05 Jan 2010
The Prime Minister's spokesman had indicated that Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab was named in a file of people based in Britain who had made contact with radical Muslim preachers. The file was said to have been sent to the US authorities in 2008.
However, White House sources disputed the Downing Street account, stating that it was a mistake and no such intelligence information was passed by Britain before the attempted Christmas Day attacks. The White House declined to respond officially.

The news comes as Barack Obama prepares to unveil plans aimed at thwarting future attacks as he seeks to limit political fallout from the incident.
He will outline an initial series of changes, including enhancements to the much-criticised "watchlists" of terrorism suspects, after he meets with intelligence chiefs and other top security advisers on Tuesday, first full day back from his Hawaii vacation, an administration official said.
The implication that the US failed to act could embarrass President Barack Obama, who is already under pressure after failures by US intelligence to identify the bomber.
A British official also backed claims that there appeared to have been a misunderstanding about what Downing Street had said: “There is nothing to stand up the suggestion that the UK provided information to the US that it could or should have acted upon.”
Diplomatic sources said that the Prime Minister’s spokesman had intended to refer to information gleaned by MI5 after the Christmas Day incident following an exhaustive examination of records going back through Abdulmutallab’s time in Britain up to October 2008.
It could also add to concern over the state of the “special relationship” between Downing Street and the White House following last year’s dispute over the early release of the Lockerbie bomber.
It is extremely unusual for the Prime Minister’s office to comment on intelligence matters. The move could be seen as an attempt to rebuff criticism from senior American figures who claimed that Britain had nurtured Islamic extremism.
At first it was thought that MI5 gathered only limited information on Abdulmutallab and had therefore not alerted the US.
However, in an official briefing, the Prime Minister’s spokesman said that British intelligence was shared with the Americans.
He said: “Clearly there was security information about this individual’s activities and that was information that was shared with the US authorities. That is the key point.”
The spokesman added: “We are pretty certain that he was radicalised outside the UK. He [Abdulmutallab] left the UK in October 2008.
“But it is also clear that while he was here he was attempting to make contact with people and that is the intelligence we were able to secure from the intelligence services.”
Last night, a Downing Street spokesman added: "We do routinely share large quantities of intelligence with the US on a two-way basis so we can build up a picture of the potential threats we face.
In regard to the Detroit bomber, the UK and US had gathered partial information and this had been shared in the usual way. Since the incident, we have built up a fuller picture.
There is no suggestion that the US did not act on intelligence information that they received from the UK."
Questions will be asked about how much MI5 knew about Abdulmutallab and whether the information was correctly handled. Sources said he was given the attention he warranted at the time, and the fact that he associated with other extremists in this country was not surprising.
Abdulmutallab, a Nigerian, studied at University College London between 2005 and 2008. He then left the country and was thought to have travelled to Yemen.
He attempted to detonate a bomb hidden in his underwear on Northwest Airlines flight 253 to Detroit on Christmas Day.
The decision by Downing Street to give details of the shared intelligence was unlikely to be welcomed by the White House. It was the latest in a series of incidents, which have strained relations between Britain and America.
Last summer, the Americans were angered by the decision of the Scottish administration to release the Lockerbie bomber on compassionate grounds. In September, Mr Obama rebuffed five requests for a private meeting with the Prime Minister when he visited New York.
At the weekend, the Prime Minister announced a British-US initiative to tackle terrorism in Yemen. The White House then made it clear that Mr Brown had not spoken to President Obama since the Detroit bomber was apprehended. The Prime Minister was then forced to admit that it was an old programme.
Last week, it was found that the bomber had come to the attention of MI5 when he made contact with a number of individuals who were under surveillance. However, MI5 was not thought to have identified Abdulmutallab as a threat and he was not fully investigated. The bomber was therefore not placed on international watch lists and was able to board a plane from Nigeria to America, via Amsterdam last month.
Although he appeared in a number of top secret intelligence reports, Abdulmutallab was allowed to keep his American visa.
Abdulmutallab’s father contacted the CIA in November to give them warning that his son was involved with fundamentalists in Yemen.
Communications were intercepted in Yemen, which referred to a possible attack by “the Nigerian”. American intelligence experts have criticised the failure to identify the potential threat and drawn comparisons with 2001, when the CIA and FBI missed warning signs of the September 11 attacks. |

IS THE NIGERIAN BOMBER STORY A RACIST HOAX?
The Nigerian Al Qaida bomber story is set to damage black people worldwide despite growing doubts about its credibility.
Evidence of hidden truth includes an October 2008 Yemeni government announcement of the arrest of an Israeli-backed Al Qaida cell that had attacked the US embassy.
The story has another Israeli connection because Alhaji Mutallab, father of bomber, Abdul, has had regular contact with its spy agency, Mossad.
Black leaders should be warned that a myth is developing that could convince them to accept self-defeating policies from the West.
Black people should try to overcome any psychological obstacles to questioning a Western agenda that will ramp up intervention in Africa and treat them as potential terrorists.
The Israeli connection is raised in a BBC report that quoted Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. He told a gathering at Mukalla University in Hadramawt province: "A terrorist cell was arrested and will be referred to the judicial authorities for its links with the Israeli intelligence services."
Mutallab’s father was a government minister and prominent banker. He also ran Nigeria’s defence industry that has constant support from Israeli intelligence.

Other evidence challenging the official account of Flight 253 from Amsterdam to the US comes from Detroit Attorney and passenger, Kurt Haskell.

He claims that a:
• well-dressed Indian helped Mutallab get on the flight without a passport,
• second Indian man, who was a passenger, was arrested as a suspect bomber,
• passenger on the plane filmed the whole event.
After initially denying the second arrest, US officials have now admitted it but claimed that it was unconnected to the Mutallab bomb attempt.
Western media have already admitted that US and UK intelligence had advance warning of the attack, knew that Mutallab had links with extremists, and suggested that the planned airport body scanners is a scam.

Yet, there are other anomalies being reported in alternative media:
• CIA has been helping ‘rogue’ Yemen to fight ‘terrorists’ for a year,
- www.presstv.ir/detail.aspx?id=114817§ionid=351020206
• Mutallab’s central London flat, according to the UK Land Registry, was not owned by his father’s but by a US airline company,

• Alhaji warned a retired security officer about his son but not the actual Nigerian Intelligence Agency (NIA),
- http://panafricannews.blogspot.com/
According to Pan African News Wire, the Nigerian Guardian has reported:
‘The Guardian gathered last night that even as the NIA chief executive faces the challenge of answering the query from the NSA, the presidency has been told that contrary to earlier reports that the lead and indeed activities of Umar Farouk (Jnr) were reported to Nigeria's security agencies, "the father only reported it to a former National Security official who served under President Obasanjo, who in turn reportedly informed one of the directors at the National Intelligence Agency (NIA). The director obviously did nothing about the lead until the current incident happened.”
The official story claims that Abdul Mutallab wanted revenge for US bombing in Afghanistan. He had become radicalised while studying in London and living in a £4m flat. He was trained by a growing and active Al Qaida cell in Yemen. But his potentially powerful, chemical powder bomb failed to detonate and only injured him.
Yet, US, UK and NATO intelligence have carried out terrorism under the guise of the Left in the 1980s. The head of Italy’s security service was jailed for his involvement in the Red Brigade terrorism that included the infamous Bologna rail station bombing.
The current story does not add up. Would anyone believe that an Afghani would do a suicide bombing because of the deaths of Nigerian people relating to Shell Oil’s activity?
Despite the many innocent victims of US bombing in Afghanistan, we haven’t we heard of a single Afghani suicide bomb attempt on a US passenger jet.
There is no reason to believe that a young, wealthy Nigerian, would kill himself and others for Afghanistan, whether under Al Qaida mind control or not.
An immediate affect of the official account will be that flying, particularly to and from Africa, will be made more difficult than usual. More people of African descent in the UK and US would come under racial profiling and surveillance.
- www.independent.co.uk/news/uk/home-news/exclusive-how-mi5-blackmails -british-muslims-1688618.html
Meanwhile, the West will increase its intervention in black Africa affairs and blame Al Qaida. The US will also claim that they have a good reason to set up the military base that they have wanted. They will resort to a greater use of military contractors and special operations. African nations could face more conflict and even less democracy.
On the back of Al Qaida in Africa will follow Western leaders’ quiet push to use the IMF and World Bank to create a pan-African government. It would have a central bank, a single currency and single military command dependent on the West. Although, some African leaders are fronting the pan-African idea, the US is behind it.
But, nations could find themselves in more debt to Western banks and end up supporting Western companies take over African resources.
If the West’s panic over global warming is added, Africans may have to agree to slowing down their economic development and seeking ways to reduce their populations.

Black people should question the ‘Al Qaida in black Africa’ story before it takes root and does harm.

Webster Tarpley, as usual, telling it like it actually is.
Webster Tarpley wrote: | Obama White House Probing Rogue Network of Moles Behind Christmas Detroit Patsy Fiasco
Webster G. Tarpley
Infowars.com
January 5, 2009
Officials in the Obama White House are considering the possibility that the Christmas day attempt by Nigerian terrorist Umar Farouk Mutallab to blow up an airliner about to land in Detroit was deliberately and intentionally facilitated by unnamed networks inside the US intelligence community.
This was the gist of a report by Richard Wolf delivered in this evening’s edition of cable network MSNBC’s Countdown program, hosted by Keith Olbermann.
This report comes on the eve of a special White House interagency conference convoked by Obama to deal with the massive systemic failure of US intelligence in allowing the Yemen alumnus Mutallab to board the Amsterdam to Detroit flight while allegedly carrying a PETN explosive device on his person.
Wolf attributed his account to top officials in the Obama White House. The intentional sabotage of US antiterrorist screening procedures would explain why Mutallab had been able to use his US visa, escape interrogation and special searches, and board his flight, even though he was festooned with every red flag in the annals of airport security. If Wolf’s report is accurate, these Obama officials may be pulling on a thread which could begin to unravel the entire secret structure of illegitimate power which has afflicted this country — in this case, the apparatus which manufactures terrorist incidents for political purposes of mass manipulation, dictatorship, and war.
TURF WAR OR DESIRE TO EMBARRASS OBAMA?
Wolf offered two possible explanations cited by his White House sources for the intentional sabotage of security procedures, resulting in yet another egregious failure to connect the dots. The first was a “turf war” inside the intelligence community, with one agency seeking to hoard information and deny it to others. The second was the desire to “embarrass” some leading figures, presumably referring to partisan animus or other resentments against Obama and his top appointees.
ANSWER: RE-LAUNCHING THE “GLOBAL WAR ON TERROR” VIA YEMEN
But Obama and his advisors should be urged to consider a third explanation far more plausible than either of these. This third explanation would include the desire of a rogue network inside the US government to unleash a new wave of Islamophobic hysteria to rehabilitate the discredited “global war on terror” strategy in a new and more sophisticated form, while imposing a new round of outrageous and degrading search procedures at airports (such as the full body scanners peddled by the venal Michael Chertoff) to soften up the American people for heightened totalitarian control and political repression. All of this, moreover, in ways that will be politically harmful to Obama.
The foreign policy rationale of Mutallab’s spectacular near miss in the skies over at Detroit would include the current US campaign of ginning up the three-cornered Yemen civil war so as to threaten and weaken both Saudi Arabia and Iran, each of whom is backing a faction in that civil war. Another benefit is to enhance the US presence in Yemen, a country which controls the exit from the Red Sea and thus all traffic coming out of the Suez Canal, one of the great naval chokepoints of the world and vital for the commerce of China, a leading US rival. Yet another advantage would be to suppress criticism of Obama’s West Point expansion of the existing war in Afghanistan to include an all-out assault on the territorial integrity and statehood of Pakistan. As a result of Mutallab’s handiwork, Obama has now declared a new Axis of Evil composed of Afghanistan-Pakistan, Somalia, and Yemen. Yemen in particular has been catapulted to the center of international attention by an Anglo-American propaganda blitzkrieg of monumental proportions.
Gold is where you find it, and you often find it in strange locations, as in this case. If Wolf’s report is correct, these unnamed officials in the Obama White House might well be on the trail of the rogue network or secret government which has deliberately and cynically manufactured the majority of the large-scale terrorism incidents of recent decades. This rogue network is older than Obama, older than Bush and Cheney, older than Clinton. It goes back many decades, and its calling cards have included such catastrophes as the Kennedy assassination, the Gulf of Tonkin incident, the Iran-Contra affair, and 9/11. The rogue network and the bankers who control it obviously regard Obama as an expendable puppet destined, like Jimmy Carter 30 years ago, to go down in the shipwreck of his administration’s Wall Street-inspired policies. As of this evening, it cannot be excluded that the Obama forces might fire some of the leading moles who made the Mutallab incident possible. If they do, that purge will be an important step in the right direction. In the meantime, three unauthorized entries into the White House over the last several months have doubtless served as a deterrent reminder to Obama that the rogue network can get to him at any time.
According to Wolf’s report, the Obama White House officials are approaching the rogue network from the side of its mole component. The moles are subversive government officials who disdain the Constitution and instead serve a private network ultimately centered in Wall Street. One basic task of the moles is to make sure that patsies like Mutallab are not interfered with, no matter how suspicious their behavior, and no matter how many times they violate the law. If Mutallab’s kamikaze mission had produced an explosion, these same moles would have been the first to leak the news that the bomber was a jihadi from Nigeria. The moles would then have sabotaged any investigation, which is what they are doing tonight as this is written.
MUTALLAB FESTOONED WITH RED FLAGS
Mutallab had been denied a visa to enter the United Kingdom, despite the fact that his family owned a luxury apartment in London’s West End. His name had been placed on the UK watch list. Mutallab’s father, a prominent Nigerian banker, personally denounced him to the CIA and the State Department as a possible extremist who was then in Yemen, most probably at a training camp. Nevertheless, Mutallab’s visa was not revoked. Mutallab had met the infamous Anwar Awlaki, who had just received a wave of publicity for his relations with Major Hasan the Fort Hood patsy. Chatter from the Yemen patsy milieu monitored by the US contained references to “the Nigerian” – meaning Mutallab. Mutallab paid cash for his ticket in Ghana, checked no luggage, and entered Nigeria illegally, but was nevertheless permitted to embark on the first leg of his mission. In London, Mutallab was assisted by a “well-dressed Indian,” who told the gate agent that Mutallab was a Sudanese who did not have a passport. Nevertheless, Mutallab was allowed to board. As the present writer stated in a Dec. 28 interview on Russia Today, Only the active complicity of treasonous moles can explain Mutallab’s miraculous immunity to all surveillance and screening despite all these factors of suspicion.
LONDONISTAN: THE SCHOOL FOR PATSIES
But the moles are not the only component in the murderous apparatus of false flag terrorism of the type put on display over Detroit on Christmas Day. Patsies like Mutallab must be recruited from the ranks of misfits, psychotics, fanatics, dupes, criminals, and the mentally impaired. They must be equipped with an appropriate synthetic ideology of the type which Mutallab evidently acquired during his years in that immense school for patsies which is the MI-6’s artificially cultivated milieu of the Londonistan jihadis, the trendy Islamist radicals of the British capital.
AWLAKI THE CIA LACKEY
Patsies like Mutallab must then be carefully sheep-dipped to establish a connection with “Al Qaeda,” in reality the CIA Moslem Legion. Mutallab underwent the requisite sheep-dip through his contacts with the incendiary firebrand Anwar Awlaki, now thoroughly exposed as a double agent and patsy recruiter/patsy chaperone working for the United States and well deserving of the epithet Awlaki the CIA Lackey. Awlaki had been implicated in the cases of supposed 9/11 Pentagon suicide pilot Hani Hanjour, and then of Major Hasan of Fort Hood, among others.
NEEDED: MOLE DETECTORS AT NSC, CIA, DEFENSE
The paradigm of false flag “Islamist terrorism” deployed once again on Christmas Day by this rogue network which cuts across the top echelons of the executive departments and agencies of the US government is now frayed, worn, and threadbare. It is rent with gaping holes. The inherent disadvantage of false flag terrorism as a strategy of mass manipulation lies in the diminishing returns which this method is capable of producing: the more it is repeated, the more people begin to suspect that it is a fraud and sham. The flying patsy routine has been repeated ad nauseam, from the retarded Richard Reid the Shoe Bomber of December 2001 to Mutallab the Knicker-Bomber of December 2009. Over the past ten days, the genuine exasperation of columnists and editorial writers over this latest blatant failure to connect the most elementary of dots has suggested that all the naïve cover stories are about to collapse in a shock of recognition that networks infesting the US government do indeed actively create and produce terrorist events for their own evil purposes. We need mole detectors at the NSC, CIA, State Department, and Pentagon – not more harassment of the traveling public.
Persons of good will should mobilize to expose the Detroit patsy operation as a crude and blatant false flag event designed to promote foreign wars and domestic repression. Call the White House. Call your Congressman. Write a letter to the editor. You never know who might catch on. |

Yemen seizes 'Israel-linked' cell
Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh has said the security forces have arrested a group of alleged Islamist militants linked to Israeli intelligence.
Mr Saleh did not say what evidence had been found to show the group's links with Israel, a regional enemy of Yemen.
The arrests were connected with an attack on the US embassy in Sanaa last month which killed at least 18 people, official sources were quoted saying.
Israel's foreign ministry has rejected the accusation as "totally ridiculous".
"A terrorist cell was arrested and will be referred to the judicial authorities for its links with the Israeli intelligence services," Mr Saleh told a gathering at al-Mukalla University in Hadramawt province.
"Details of the trial will be announced later. You will hear about what goes on in the proceedings," he added.
The 17 September attack was the second to target the US embassy since April. Militants detonated car bombs before firing rockets at the heavily fortified building.
Mr Saleh did not identify the suspects, but official sources were quoted saying it was same cell - led by a militant called Abu al-Ghaith al-Yamani - whose arrest was announced a week after the attack.
An Israeli foreign ministry spokesman said the Yemeni president's statement was without foundation.
"To believe that Israel would create Islamist cells in Yemen is really far-fetched. This is yet another victory for the proponents of conspiracy theories," Igal Palmor said in remarks reported by AFP. |

Webster Tarpley
Webster is likely right that there is a turf war going on. Brzezinski has never thought much of the neo-con Middle East tension/war of terror strategy, but it is nonetheless making a comeback. The noises about war on Iran are getting louder, again despite Brzezinski rejection of an Iran war.
Yet, I don't believe that Mutallab was the psychotic dupe Webster makes him out to be. Mutallab consciously acted in support of the Mossad/Indian intelligence/CIA/FBI false flag. He may have been convinced that he was taking part in some essential security exercise (which explains why he didn't have suspicions despite the fact someone was filming him.) And so did his father.
His father makes a total hash of warning the authorities about his son. He doesn't approach the police or security agency. He doesn't approach the Yemeni government. Instead, he suddenly gains remarkable insight he clearly did have for the past four years and contacts his son's target. The US. In fact, he sees a CIA officer in the Nigeria embassy.
Why? Because he did not want to stop his son from doing what he did. And because he needed to seal the deal with his CIA handler.
Mutallab clearly had second thoughts about his mission. this is why he had to have the Indian man (Indian intelligence) to ensure he got on the plane and the camcorder man to ensure he did what he was supposed to.
Mutallab has no injuries. The burns are a fake. Otherwise, he'd have burned his * off. The stories of his fundamentalist past at some school or university or other (they can’t get their story straight) are made up. Mutallab will get some sort of light sentence and be out in two years.
Otherwise, his dad doesn't get jailed for some criminal misdemeanor, doesn't lose his fortune in some silly Madoff-type scam, or gets a share of the body scanner takings.
Nonetheless, it is interesting that in order for the official story to work, people have to believe in mind control. |
