A lingering technical question about the Sept. 11 terrorist attacks still haunts some, and it has political implications: How did 200,000 tons of steel disintegrate and drop in 11 seconds? A thousand architects and engineers want to know, and are calling on Congress to order a new investigation into the destruction of the Twin Towers and Building 7 at the World Trade Center.

"In order to bring down this kind of mass in such a short period of time, the material must have been artificially, exploded outwards," says Richard Gage, a San Francisco architect and founder of the nonprofit Architects & Engineers for 9/11 Truth.

Mr. Gage, who is a member of the American Institute of Architects, managed to persuade more than 1,000 of his peers to sign a new petition requesting a formal inquiry.

Definite shift in the way things being reported- especially when done with a suit and tie on. No need to specifically mention thermite, no planes hutchison or all that. enough anomalies to show the official collapse account is a load of soft dangling things.

Hi Scuba Smile

Oh so gruding... "technical"! I like that. The Twin Towers explode, WTC7 falls at freefall - oh so "technical" - as if every building in the world does that...

You do know that the building regulations in NY specify that all skyscrapers must be able to survive earthquakes!!! Rolling Eyes

And silver tongued, Richard Gage, with his "technical" points "managed to persuade" other architects and engineers. I think Gage wakes them up rather than persuades them!

Anyway a better than average piece in the Washington Post!

A study made by the State University of New York at Buffalo and released in 1989 examined what would happen to the city's over 800,000 buildings if a tremor of 6.0 hit 17 miles southeast of City Hall

....Places like Downtown Manhattan, and those nearer the epicenter, would sustain the most damage.

"The hardest hit structured, would not be New York's famed towers," Rinaldi's memo states, "but rather its numerous old brownstones and row-houses, its unreinforced masonry structures."

Dr. Leonardo Seeber, a research associate with the Lamont Doherty Geological Observatory in Palisades, New York, agrees that most skyscrapers already would fulfill most of the requirements to protect against earthquake damage.
