Planting Evidence
http://www.antiwar.com/prather/?articleid=8388
by Gordon Prather

There is a "revelation" in James Risen’s latest book – State of War: The Secret History of the CIA and the Bush Administration – that is perhaps more revealing than anyone intended.

According to Risen, back in February 2000, the CIA finally found a job for one of their assets – a Russian "defector," long on their payroll, but never usefully employed. They sent him to IAEA headquarters in Vienna with what Risen characterizes as "blueprints for a nuclear bomb" with instructions to give them to the Iranian delegate to the IAEA.

"Nuclear bomb"?

Well, no.

The Russian was actually "carrying technical designs for a TBA 480 high-voltage block, otherwise known as a ‘firing set’, for a Russian-designed nuclear weapon."

"He [the Russian] held in his hands the knowledge needed to create a perfect implosion that could trigger a nuclear chain reaction inside a small spherical core. It was one of the greatest engineering secrets in the world, providing the solution to one of a handful of problems that separated nuclear powers such as the United States and Russia from rogue countries such as Iran that were desperate to join the nuclear club but had so far fallen short.

Iran has spent nearly 20 years trying to develop nuclear weapons, and in the process has created a strong base of sophisticated scientists knowledgeable enough to spot flaws in nuclear blueprints. Tehran also obtained nuclear blueprints from the network of Pakistani scientist Abdul Qadeer Khan, and so already had workable blueprints against which to compare the designs obtained from the CIA. Nuclear experts say that they would thus be able to extract valuable information from the blueprints while ignoring the flaws."

Nonsense......................

Public opinion deemed 'wrong' again by 'experts'

Majority of Americans think Iran has The Bomb

A whopping 71 percent of Americans believe that Iran currently has nuclear weapons, according to a recent CNN/Opinion Research Corporation survey.

More than six in ten think the U.S. should take economic and diplomatic efforts to get Iran to shut down their nuclear program, with only a quarter calling for immediate military action.

I like this part: “with only a quarter calling for immediate military action.” I probably would have written something like, “HOLY *! DID YOU HEAR 25 PERCENT OF THE COUNTRY WANTS TO BOMB IRAN RIGHT NOW??” But whatever. Blasé works too, I guess.............

POLITICS: Iran Nuke Laptop Data Came from Terror Group
By Gareth Porter
http://ipsnews.net/news.asp?idnews=41416
WASHINGTON, Feb 29, 2008 (IPS) - The George W. Bush administration has long pushed the "laptop documents" - 1,000 pages of technical documents supposedly from a stolen Iranian laptop - as hard evidence of Iranian intentions to build a nuclear weapon. Now charges based on those documents pose the only remaining obstacles to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) declaring that Iran has resolved all unanswered questions about its nuclear programme.
But those documents have long been regarded with great suspicion by U.S. and foreign analysts. German officials have identified the source of the laptop documents in November 2004 as the Mujahideen e Khalq (MEK), which along with its political arm, the National Council of Resistance in Iran (NCRI), is listed by the U.S. State Department as a terrorist organisation.
There are some indications, moreover, that the MEK obtained the documents not from an Iranian source but from Israel's Mossad.
In its latest report on Iran, circulated Feb. 22, the IAEA, under strong pressure from the Bush administration, included descriptions of plans for a facility to produce "green salt", technical specifications for high explosives testing and the schematic layout of a missile reentry vehicle that appears capable of holding a nuclear weapon. Iran has been asked to provide full explanations for these alleged activities.
Tehran has denounced the documents on which the charges are based as fabrications provided by the MEK, and has demanded copies of the documents to analyse, but the United States had refused to do so........

IAEA Conceals Evidence Iran Nuke Docs Were Forged
http://www.counterpunch.org/porter09152009.html
By GARETH PORTER
The International Atomic Energy Agency says its present objective regarding Iran is to try to determine whether the intelligence documents purportedly showing a covert Iranian nuclear weapons programme from 2001 to 2003 are authentic or not. The problem, according to its reports, is that Iran refuses to help clarify the issue.
But the IAEA has refused to acknowledge publicly significant evidence brought to its attention by Iran that the documents were fabricated, and has made little, if any, effort to test the authenticity of the intelligence documents or to question officials of the governments holding them, IPS has learned.

U.S. Intelligence Found Iran Nuke Document Was Forged
Gareth Porter

U.S. intelligence has concluded that the document published recently by the Times of London, which purportedly describes an Iranian plan to do experiments on what the newspaper described as a “neutron initiator” for an atomic weapon, is a fabrication, according to a former Central Intelligence Agency official.
Philip Giraldi, who was a CIA counterterrorism official from 1976 to 1992, told IPS that intelligence sources say that the United States had nothing to do with forging the document, and that Israel is the primary suspect. The sources do not rule out a British role in the fabrication, however.

ASASP? Hmm, 'as soon as sacredly possible', perhaps?

Besides, they must having astonishing cloaking capability... Divine, in fact.

According to Hilary the queen we will be finding out soon whether they do or not. If they turn out to have those two missing nukes I will not be suprised.
Remember Cuba? The US military tried to convince Kennedy of a seaborne invasion with the 'intelligence' that Cuba had no nukes. He refused. In fact the Cubans already had Russian tactical nukes in place and an invasion would almost certainly have sparked a nuclear war.

Hillary Clinton’s final offer to Iran: “one more bundle of ‘crippling sanctions’ - one more T list!’
by Franklin Lamb, Scoop, 22 February 2010
"The West just has to cope with a strong and peaceful Iran, a country with thousands of years of civilization that is now a master of enrichment. I know it is hard for them to digest, but it is the reality. The language of American threats demonstrates a colonialist mentality. Threatening Iran with the Security Council, with more sanctions or military action further complicates the issue. It just doesn’t work.”
[Iran's ambassador to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), Ali-Asghar Soltanieh on 2/17/10 to the British journal, the New Statesman]
“The current situation in the region was David Welch’s worst nightmare and he saw it coming!", explained a demonstrably frustrated US Embassy staffer in Beirut as she mused about what Hilary Clinton was really doing in the region this week.

So this is another site which can`t take a critical view?? Tony, did you know that Hilary has cancer?? The truth does not fear investigation....and if one person raises a hand to question something....is it right that you censor their posts?? It appears that you are no better than the BBC, or the US/UK governments. YOU are incapable of holding the moral high ground. Cool

Fine to criticise the issues but not individuals. You have been biting the hands that freed you... which seems a little inappropriate. So, concentrate on looking for ways forward for us all, discuss the issues without grumbling about me and you'll be fine, slag off the moderators here and you will be suspended, it's simple really. See the forum rules..... now, where were we?
