My friends 20 yr old grandson was treated to go and stay with relatives in US for a couple of months for a holiday He got all the way to the states then refused entry and put on a flight back home on the excuse they thought he was coming to work (which you need a visa for) . He might have fared better sailing on The Mayflower

Oh yes you must seek the Directors Cut not the UK Cinema edition as the BBFC forced it to be cut to shreds so badly that it is a completly different story!!!!
The Google vids edit is short by about 5 mins but is much better than the BBFC edit!
Full uncut is available in the 3 disc Criterion Collection Boxset region 1 only

Let it be a lesson, not to go there ever or spend a penny on them.
If the treat people like cattle he should sue them when he gets back. Start with a lawsuit in a small claims court and send it to the US Embassy for lost flights etc.
