Two separate traumatic 'mock' exercises in schools in the UK ... WTF is going on here ? In one, and RE teacher is pretended to be gunned down in front of pupils as part of a science 'lesson' in how evidence is collected in criminal investigations
http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1260521/Evesham-school-fake-sh ooting-teacher-traumatises-children.html

In the second a class of 11 year olds studying the holocaust were told that some of them wouldn't be going home to their parents that evening and may end up in an orphanage - this was done without prior warning to the kids or their parents.

Both stories - appearing just days apart - have sickened me ... what are our kids being 'prepared' for ? Are the Heads of these schools 'Common Purpose' indoctrinates ? Were the Governors aware of what was going to take place ?

The theme of realistic role play was investigated in the great German film "The Wave" ("Der Welle"). This concerned 6th form students
Subjecting much younger children to very sick scenarios is obviously completely obscene and abusive, and should see the perpetrators charged
CP would seem obviously culpable

It’s interesting that it’s the RE teacher that gets gunned down in the role play and not a science teacher. Taking cross-curricular teaching a bit too far perhaps.

What’s scary is how they’re reminiscent of the ‘coincidental mock exercises’ we’re so familiar with hearing about now following various acts of terror and/or ’natural’disasters.

Quote:
'Their ordeal lasted between 12 and 15 minutes before the children were informed that it was all an act but that the role play would continue until lunchtime.'

Quote:
It was ten minutes before it was revealed the scene was fake.

I think these scenarios haven’t come out of the blue; they are just the next stage in a Fabian development that has been going on for a while, and may or may not be connected to CP. Less newsworthy primary school scenarios are

-the detailed study of how children were evacuated during WWII, including composition writing exercises such as http://www.lessonplanet.com/search?grade=All&keywords=%22world+war+2+e vacuation%22&media=worksheets&rating=0

and

-trips to purpose built centres for role play in ‘community safety’ such as The Risk Factory (built in 2007) http://www.edinburgh.gov.uk/internet/City_Living/Community_safety/Acci dents_emergencies_and_safety/Accident_prevention/CEC_the_risk_factory

This, along with other strange things going on such as fingerprinting, fluoride painting of teeth and CCTV cameras in toilets, may have drawn enough of a picture to suggest taking your kids out of the state sector. Easier said than done, I know. Other than that, staying vigilant and getting more involved in the PTA is the next best step to nip things in the bud before you end up with a ‘mock terror drill‘ at a school near you. Otherwise, it seems ‘they‘ can try anything without warning and justify it later, giving you perfectly legitimate reasons such as getting ‘the children to experience an "accurate emotional response" … in order for it to be reflected in their story writing.’

Except that it isn’t legitimate and reasonable, and no parent should be allowing them to get away with it.

Some good stuff there, letthemeatmadeira ... I've already pulled my daughter from school and home educate her now. Very, very fortunate to be in a position to be able to do this, wish it was an option for all parents to be able to.

Go for it Wildheart, see if you can get connected to a local home schooling group so that your children can still socialise a bit in a group with other youngsters.

Hi Fish !
Yeah, we've been with a home ed group since last Summer. We meet up weekly have social outings, more formal 'lessons' covering music, languages, science and workshops in the local area. My daughter also goes to Brownies and still sees a couple of her old friends from school so she has plenty of social interaction.
