Amalgam Virgo was one of the exercises that was happening before 911. Webster tarpley refers to the numerous exercises taking place on & before 911. These exercises were used to divert miltary reponse operations well away from the eastern seaboard of the us on that terrible day. ( See the video of Tarpley's lecture in NYC here). Some exercises were described as High Fidelity, i.e that there were 'moles' on the inside trying to thwart the response - just to make the exercises more real!

Amalgam Virgo ran in June 2001 & envisgaed 'an errant Realistic Current Threat'...

So all the talk of 'we never expected airplanes being hijacked & used as missiles, is *. The front cover of the PDF explaining the exercise (which can be viewed here) even features Osama Bin Laden!

The terror drill scenario is the tool used to obfuscate the proper responses from the official departments who SHOULD respond. Webster Tarpley, in his very recent guest spot on the Mike Malloy show on 3rd August 2006 (available here or downloadable from here) stated that in the audio tapes very recently released (upon which the Vanity Fair article centres), Air traffic Controllers were heard to say "But the planes aren't meant to be hijacked for another hour" !!
