|
|
Having been on many marches which have been all but ignored by the mainstream media, and it seeming increasingly likely that the US/UK will invade Iran as a consequence of the present conflict, I am thinking of possible action to take if such an invasion were to occur.
Does anyone have any views on the possibility of a general strike? Or any knowledge as to the means of achieving one?
It seems to me that it is something that could only be achieved if the seed is planted in people's heads now. |

You would have to write to the heads of the major trade unions to get any kind of backing.
Three of them were in Parliament Square on Saturday (but can't remember who) so I think the response might be good. |

These wouldn't be the same trade unions that provide two thirds of Labour party funding would it ?
The same trade unions who are pledged to fight for British workers whilst turning a blind eye to the jackboot of globalisation and remain deaf blind and dumb while our jobs are off shored ? _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

Yup - the unions were subjugated under Thatcher and are mewling compliant oppressors of their members. A willing part of the whole deal
You want a general strike you better start approaching the man and woman on the street and in every public place what it's about
Take the SWP angle - but your information is far more correct of course and adds to the positive frequencies _________________ http://www.exopolitics-leeds.co.uk/introduction |

From what I remember from their speeches, they were anti-Blair as much as the rest of us that day....
I think these unions may desert Blair (IMO of course!) |

Interesting.
It just seems to me that a general strike would be near impossible unless it was planned a long time in advance. People need a 'last straw' as it were. If it were possible to create the 'last straw' by getting the idea out that the invasion of Iran would trigger a general strike, this might be possible. |
