I have received the following invitation. I note that the Direct Action prescribed does not include the adjective "nonviolent". Can anyone shed any light on this group or what their plans are?

KEY NOTE: Messages are sent out in roughly twice weekly digests so as not to overload your inbox.
As the ‘War On Terror’ boils over into a greater regional war across the entire Middle and Near East it is time to move beyond the comfort zone of A-B demonstrations (important as they are) and towards more direct confrontation and opposition to our own illegal military state.
The DAAW message board was initially created in Jan 2003 to protest the arrival of US B52 Bombers to RAF Fairford, U.K, from where Iraq was then carpet-bombed. Since then the message board has become home to a wide range of Direct Action related campaigns and protests.
DAAW is a well moderated e-group. Most events or actions which are asking more than just the signing of another petition, or which are more than another march from point A to point B, will be considered for approval as a form of Direct Action.

Hello DAAW subscribers,
As there is no one definiton of what Direct Action is, there remains
understandable confusion about what posts are, and are not, acceptable on this
group. So this is intended to help with that.
These are guidelines, not rules, so please take them in that spirit. However,
DAAW previously collapsed after being overwhelmed by off-topic post and spam,
so if you have post for discussion, or off-topic post, please instead join, and
post to the DAAWtalk e-group instead.
To join DAAWtalk send a blank email to:

To begin with there are certain actions or posts which are *not* generally
recognised as a form of Direct Action.
A) THESE ARE *NOT* RECOGNISED AS DIRECT ACTION POSTS:
i) A-B Demonstrations.*
ii) General Anti-War Meetings or Conferences.*
ii) General cut and paste anti-war related articles.
iv) EDMs, Petitions or Letter writing campaigns.*
*These will occasionaly be accepted if they are in conjuction with posts below.
Example : A letter writing campaign opposing Trident in conjuction with a
publicised direct action, or direct action group.
B) THESE *ARE* RECOGNISED AS DIRECT ACTION POSTS:
i) Independent (not mainstream) journalism from warzones.
(Reason : Risk of Life)
ii) Trespass days at US bases, blockades of Arms Fairs.
(Reason : Direct Confrontation)
iii) Laying Claim To A Public Space.
(Example : Parliament Sq protests refusing to obey law)
iv) Refusing to seek permission to hold a protest.
(Example : Not filling in the Serious Organised Crime and Police Act form)
v) Conferences or meetings with Direct Action content.
(Example : Direct Action training).
vi) Reports of activists in court in relation to the above.
I hope this helps to clarify things.
Thanks.
