‘I RAN THE GAUNTLET OF PEDOPHILES IN THE ENTERTAINMENT INDUSTRY’, SAYS FORMER CHILD ACTORDuring the show’s ‘Cash for Questions’ investigation, the first politician who I met was then DTI Chairman, Sir Michael Grylls, who invited me to tea in the House of Commons “tea room” and spent the meeting attempting make untoward body contact with me under the table. After that, I was sent to a political lobbyist named Ian Greer who tried to rub his genitalia against me while he hugged me. On one separate occasion, I was summoned Ian Greer’s offices where Ken Clarke was also present. Greer gave me a two glasses of whiskey and was acting a little, lets say, “over-familiar”. Ken Clarke and Ian Greer were well aware of my age – because I told them. Now, I’m not suggesting that either Sir Michael Grylls, Ian Greer or Ken Clarke are pedophiles, however, it’s not over-the-top to describe what transpired as very questionable behaviour towards a minor – by anyone’s standards – let alone the standards expected from our public officials and government inner circle members.
Stunned officers chipped away plaster at a record shop wall and unveiled a hidden list of names thought to belong to young victims of Jimmy Savile.
The vile register, which contained the names, ages and a disgusting ratings system seemingly used to mark their sexual performance, was scrawled on a secret wall buried behind layers of wallpaper and plaster.
A source revealed: “The wall looked like something straight out of a horror movie. There were lists and lists of names of the victims – it’s a shocking discovery.”
The list of girls and young women is thought to identify hundreds of potential new victims abused at the hands of the BBC DJ and it raised fears Savile was at the centre of a celebrity paedophile ring.
Police believe the major breakthrough could lead to further arrests – including other well-known celebrities.
The wall also appeared to contain the names of girls the sick group hoped to target in the future.
Officers who raided the shop in Greater Manchester after a tip-off will now try to trace the alleged victims.
A source said the raid had provided the clearest evidence yet to show Savile was part of a larger group of monsters.
The source said: “Savile appeared to be using the room above the record store as some kind of secret HQ to plan his vile acts.
“There appears to be some suggestion that he was not acting alone either.
“There were others who appear to be involved, several others, some of whom are household names.”
As the specialist officers ripped away the layers from the wall, the names of up to 200 new people they believe he and accomplices attacked or planned to
attack during the 1980s and 1990s were gradually revealed.
At least one other well-known BBC figure and several celebrities are now being linked to the probe. Suspects face being quizzed in the coming weeks.
The source added: “Police think there might be hundreds of new female victims that needed to be spoken to as a result of the record shop raid.
Earlier this year it was suggested there were around 450 victims of Savile’s depraved actions.
“This looks like an under-estimation. If the evidence on the wall is anything to go by, we could be talking in the region of 650 victims in all. It’s shocking.”
Criminologist Professor David Wilson from Birmingham City University said the register was a way for the predators to boast about their conquests.
He said: “In the age before the internet made it possible for paedophiles to communicate with each other and write about who they could abuse and the form that abuse may take, they found other methods.
Paedophiles are constantly evolving ways of communicating.
“By putting it on a wall they are making it public, but by hiding it, it is private. The public nature is because they are proud of it. It is a boasting system.
It is a form of saying ‘this is what I’ve done. I’ve done more than you.’
It’s about them displaying their own sexual success in being able to abuse these children.
“They also recognise this could lead to arrest, so they had to be careful about their sexual preferences.
“At the time this was said to have taken place paedophiles used contact magazines and groups of associates to get in touch with each other.
We are beginning to see how widespread Savile’s abuse was.
“The significance of it having been found in a record shop is that at the time this was where all the young people went to buy their records and hang out.
Now they download songs on the internet.”
Police carried out the raid a few weeks ago. The findings potentially raise the depravity of disgraced Savile – who died at 84 in October 2011 – to new levels.
A joint police and NSPCC report published in January declared that with at least 450 victims, he was one of Britain’s most prolific sex offenders.
Commander Peter Spindler said Savile “groomed the nation” as he raised millions for charity while using his status as a platform for abuse.
Leeds-born Savile had links with Greater Manchester stretching back to the 1950s when he managed a ballroom in the city.
His first known attack took place in Manchester in 1955. Investigators who revealed the scale of his abuse said he used his appeal to target the vulnerable.
In 1964, Savile’s name was mentioned to police investigating allegations that men were exploiting girls from Duncroft Approved School in Surrey.
Police arrested two men in London and a ledger showed Savile was a regular visitor there. Following his death, 28 police forces recorded 214 crimes committed by the presenter, including 34 rape claims. The latest allegation against him was from 2009 when he was aged 82.
The report said he targeted children as young as eight and sexually attacked at least 23 of his victims on BBC premises.
In 1972 during a break in filming, Savile groped a 12-year-old boy and felt the breasts of the youngster's two friends.
Investigators also found he carried out abuse in at least 14 hospitals between 1955 and 2009, including Great Ormond Street and one hospice.
Savile was stripped of his knighthood when dozens of women came forward to say he attacked them during his 54-year campaign of abuse.
Officers launched Operation Yewtree to probe the claims and there are now three strands to the investigation. One concerns Savile’s crimes exclusively, while another relates to allegations against Savile and others.
The third concentrates on accusations unconnected to Savile but which emerged following publicity.
A host of soap stars, DJs and TV presenters have been arrested during nationwide probes into historical sex offences in cases not connected to Savile.
BBC presenter Stuart Hall had his prison sentence for a series of assaults on girls doubled to 30 months on Friday.
Three Appeal Court judges ruled his original 15-month term was “inadequate”. The former It’s A Knockout host, 83, admitted sexually assaulting 13 girls aged nine to 17 over nearly 20 years.
Coronation Street star Bill Roache is one of the best-known actors to be held over allegations in the aftermath of the Savile scandal. He was charged in May with raping a teenage girl in 1967.
Roache has been bailed until his next court appearance on September 2 when he will enter formal pleas.
The actor, who has played Ken Barlow in the ITV1 soap since its launch, also faces charges of five indecent assaults involving four girls aged between 11 or 12 and 16. He denies all the claims.
His fellow Corrie star Michael Le Vell, who plays mechanic Kevin Webster, has been taken off air after being charged with 19 offences against a child, including rape, indecent assault and sexual activity.
Police have been inundated with calls following coverage of Savile’s depraved legacy.
It is claimed more of those allegedly abused are now finding the courage to come forward because the police are taking a new approach – giving potential victims hope their cases will be treated seriously.
Dozen of other arrests so far include Gary Glitter and comedian Freddie Starr.
Comic Jimmy Tarbuck was arrested at his home in South West London in May in connection with a historic child sex abuse claim.
And PR guru Max Clifford has been charged with 11 indecent assaults allegedly committed between 1966 and 1985.
One of the BBC journalists whose Newsnight report revealing sex abuse allegations against Jimmy Savile was spiked yesterday said the corporation has become a "a get-rich scheme" for "an officer class" of top executives.
Liz MacKean worked with Meirion Jones on Jimmy Savile revelations which blocked by BBC bosses in late 2011 only to come out in an ITV documentary later in 2012.
The corporation spent £25 million on severance payments for 150 high-ranking staff in a three-year period up to December, according to a recent National Audit Office report, and since 2005 has made payments totalling £60 million to 401 senior managers.
Speaking at the Edinburgh Television Festival, MacKean said: "The whole issue about severance payments gets to the heart of something that has gone badly wrong with the BBC over the last decade and more, which is the creation of an officer class that seems to fly in the face of the principles of public service broadcasting and then we learn some of the appalling details about severance payments, that the corporation has been treated as a get-rich scheme where people at the top reward outgoing people at the top even if they have got new jobs to go to, even if they have been given more than a year's notice about their departure."
BBC director-general Tony Hall highlighted the scandal of the corporation's Digital Media Initiative (DMI) which he scrapped shortly after taking the top job, branding the £100 million attempt to create a production system linked to the corporation's vast broadcasting archive as a waste of money.
He said: "The thing which worries me most about DMI is the fact you went round the place and people said 'we knew all about that' but no-one said and that is the problem of a culture where fingers are pointed, blame is appointed and people don't feel they can own up and say 'This is going wrong'."

As in the case of murderous Jimmy Savile, the police knew about Smith’s abuse for years but did nothing.

Jimmy Savile had also been protected from prosecution for rampant paedophilia, from when rumours first began circulating in 1964, to his death in 2011, which meant another key name and holder of secrets had left the scene. A scheme modelled on Teach First could help restore prestige to the embattled profession
A revolution in child protection which would see elite graduates fast-tracked into social work has been given the go-ahead by Michael Gove, The Independent on Sunday can reveal.
The programme, called Frontline, is modelled on Teach First and would create a new movement of social workers to bring leadership, prestige and a sense of "social mission" to one of the least appealing and most widely criticised professions.
The Education Secretary gave the green light to the plan amid growing concern about child protection in the wake of the Jimmy Savile scandal. The revelations have once again highlighted widespread problems with the protection of children and the state of social work in Britain, which has been described as a "national scandal" by Lord Adonis, the former education minister.

Publicist Max Clifford has been found guilty of eight indecent assaults on women and girls as young as 15.
The 71-year-old, from Surrey, was convicted of a string of assaults which happened over nearly 20 years.
He was cleared of two charges of indecent assault, while the jury at Southwark Crown Court failed to reach a verdict on another charge.
Clifford, who is the first person to be convicted under Operation Yewtree, was bailed and will be sentenced on Friday.

Jimmy Savile knew he would be designated a 'bad un', (his own words) after his death. This suggests a serious agenda for a script which all good immoral persons are happy to oblige when it comes to usurping society and in handing what was constitutionaly bound domestic systems into the hands of the private sector.
The whole affair has been launched to disgrace those less inclined to support the corporate empire that have power and influence within the old guard, Max Clifford to my mind falls exactly in this category as presented by Caz. But since the Savile train set off Social Services is being handed direct to Tavistock protocol and therefore the private charitable trust fronted private empire that is destroying all nations through the removal of sovereignty.
Take the Church of England today under the shadow of Justin Welsby who's son as a chle of Tony Blair is busying himself with calls for war against Syria and Iran. To cover this and keep up a pretence of a Christian theme within the Church of England they have brought the Methodist construct into the fold, a thesis that overturned the original backdrop of the Christian Modus Operandi which was always in opposition to Ceasar and his private empire. Through Methodism they turned smuggling and tax evading Christian's into happy industrial slaves who were excited to pay taxes, happy to snitch on real Christian's and became servants of Ceasar. From this construct was born the Evangelical Satanism which built the USA.

Veteran BBC presenter Bill Oddie has backed claims disgraced Jimmy Savile’s abuse was covered up – because he was friends with Prince Charles.
The Springwatch star, who appeared on TOTP with the Goodies when Savile presented it during the 1970s, said there was a “running sick joke” at the BBC about Savile being a paedophile.
He suggested there might have been some sort of “censorship committee” preventing the truth being released because of Savile’s royal connections.

The presenter also backed claims made by other former BBC presenters that Savile’s antics were well known at the time.
He said: “The idea that youngsters were prey – everybody knew that.
“I was not surprised at all. And the surprise is in a sense that that didn’t happen years ago.
“The establishment or who ever it is decided to keep it all quiet and decided to give him a knighthood. He was, to a certain amount, a friend of royalty.”

He added: “I do not know why it took so long to come to light. That is what I am curious about.
“Whether there is somewhere in Britain, some sort of censorship committee that we don’t know about that suppresses these thing and somebody gets together in a room and says ‘come on he was a friend of Prince Charles, it would look awfully bad on Prince Charles if we said he was a bit of a perv’.
“And someone decides ‘yes you are right, we will keep it quiet, nobody will ever find out.’
“I don’t know who that would be.”
Speaking after a question and answer session with students of Cambridge University’s historic debating society – The Union Society – on Tuesday, Oddie said Savile’s reputation was “just taken for granted.”

He said: “There was just this running sick joke that Jimmy Savile pestered the young youths of both sexes.
“It was just taken for granted. It doesn’t mean anyone thought they must do something about it – and it probably wasn’t realised how serious it was – it certainly wasn’t realised to the extent of the hospital – which is horrendous.
“When this came out it was not a surprise at all. The surprise is that it did not come out a lot earlier and the puzzlement is or the question is was it covered up or did people just chose to ignore it or was there an order and if so from whom, by whom and with whom saying we are not going to allow this to get published.
“It does make you think who would you look at. Would you look at the BBC, the police, would you look at the NHS hospital people? Did they all know and didn’t say?”

Oddie revealed there was a “naive groupies scene” at the time.
He said: “This is not a mitigating circumstance obviously, but the only thing I will say is that that was a time in history in television and radio and live shows where there was a sort of naive groupies scene.
“I do not think the girls were incredibly promiscuous, certainly not the younger ones.
“There were people who hung around after gigs and tried to get to the stars – or the disk jockeys.
“You haven’t half got a booby prize if you went for Cliff Richard and ended up with Jimmy Savile.”
He added: “The thing that you could not ignore was that it was the era of the sort of groupies.
“Not the heavy groupy, but it was an extension of those shots of the Beatles in the 60s where there is hundreds of girls crying and screaming and god knows what – well that was pretty rife.
“My wife was saying the other day about a friend of hers from way back when they went to see the Monkeys and the girl said ‘I am going to try and get in the dressing room’ and my wife said ‘he will only want one thing you know’ and she said ‘yes, I know. that is what I am going for’.
“But that is not quite the same thing as a paedophile – that was just rock bands and includes other people I am sure and is due to availability and other things. The 70s was like that.”
Oddie, who started on BBC radio with his show I’m Sorry I’ll Read That Again, reiterated claims that former director general of the BBC Mark Thompson must have known what was going on with Savile.
He said: “It is so extraordinary that there is any sort of mystery – when the ex head of the BBC Mark Thompson the other day said ‘I don’t know anything about it’.
“You worked at the BBC and you don’t know anything about it – don’t be ridiculous.
“That is absolute nonsense.”
Oddie claimed Savile “bribed his way out” of getting found out for molesting children in hospital because he was a large donor.
He said: “Anyone of that era knew something – he had a reputation for being a groper.
“The most awful aspect is the idea of molesting kids in hospital – that is just unbelievable. He was sort of bribing his way out of it by giving millions of pounds to the hospital – that is staggering.”
As well as Savile’s contact with children at the BBC, his interaction with sick youngsters at Stoke Mandeville Hospital, in Sussex, and Leeds General Infirmary, is also being investigated.

Jimmy Savile boasted about having sex with corpses and had jewellery made from glass eyes he removed from their bodies, it was revealed today.
The sick paedophile also gloated to others that he enjoyed 'posing' the corpses and that he would 'wheel them around' at night at Leeds General Infirmary.
The astonishing and macabre crimes were revealed in a mass of NHS reports into his crimes published today.
Investigators discovered the DJ and Top of the Pops presenter claimed at least 103 victims aged between five and 75.
They detailed his 50 year reign of terror at 28 institutions including Leeds, Broadmoor and Stoke Mandeville hospital.
One witness told investigators that Savile revealed the origin of his 'gross, big silver rings' when she remarked on them.
He said: 'D'you know what they are? They are glass eyes from dead bodies in Leeds Mortuary where I work and I love working there, and I wheel the dead bodies around at night and I love that.'
Another, unconnected witness - who was employed at the hospital - added: 'I do remember seeing this ring he had on that looked like an eyeball and - and I must've mentioned it to him.
'He said: 'It's made from the eyeball of a dead friend.''
A former nurse at Broadmoor Hospital said Savile told her about his appalling activities in Leeds.
He said he would 'muck about' posing dead bodies of men and women together before taking photographs.
She said: 'I was a little bit upset because I had no concept, in those days, of - while I'd heard of necrophilia ... but I didn't understand what it meant.'
The nurse added that Savile said he sexually assaulted the bodies as well, something he dubbed 'garamoosh' - a reference to oral sex.

'When I first joined the Merseyside Police I could never have imagined in my worst nightmare that I would hear and experience something I am going to relate to you now. It was so disturbing I feared making it Public due to the fear of being labelled a Crank. That does not mean that I was not continually working through and ultimately battling against the system to try and get it resolved. The evil truth, and that is the only way I can put it, “Evil” is that the system is purposely designed to allow it to continue.
Following my training I was pulled aside by an Inspector who had an unusual talent for summing individuals characters up. He apparently saw in me someone who would be totally unprepared for some of the Cultures that can be found inside Merseyside Police. He was concerned I would be all too eager to challenge anything that I perceived to be unjust. In short he gave me a warning.
“If you ever see or hear anything that you feel is wrong never make the mistake of approaching a Local MP or Councillor. They strike-deals with the Chiefs that if they hear anything negative about the Force they will not challenge it. The Chief in return for this Manus Manum Lavat agreement do not look closely when reports come in of their conduct! Always remember when an officer takes on the Force he is also taking on corrupt politicians!”
I could never have guessed just what that deal-striking helped to cover-up.
I witnessed the bullying of officers who dared to complain of anything. I saw many things, then when I deployed to Speke Police Station in South Liverpool I witnessed something that made it impossible for me to ignore what was going on. On lates, about midnight. I was in the Front Office updating logs when two colleagues came in and one looked like he going to start crying. He was not going to start crying, he was raging. “I’m f**king fed up covering-up paedophile councillors!”
He did not mean he was doing the covering-up he meant every time he stopped a certain councillor who was cruising around the Speke area late at night with a young boy in his car and he put his suspicions on the NICHE system it was immediately blocked from going to investigation by the Force Incident Manager. Note, he had not stopped this councillor once, he had stopped him on several occasions. Therefore, the councillor was very confident his behaviour would not be investigated.
It was then I learnt that I was not the only one to be given a warning not to approach any local MPs or Councillors, the vast majority of officers had been told the same thing. I decided I would test this and contacted my Local MP Maria Eagle and this where it gets disturbing.
I did not immediately say to Maria Eagle, “Guess what, a suspected paedo is cruising your patch!” I started by telling her the nasty reality of what can go on inside the Merseyside Police. Which I will explain in future logs, just to say it is nasty stuff, really nasty. Maria’s response, when I could get one, “I’ll write a letter!” The Force would respond basically telling her to keep her nose out of if and she would never challenge that. I asked her on multiple occasions why she backing down at the first fob off. She has never once explained why. Then to my horror a photo of Maria Eagle standing with the Area Commander outside Speke Police Station with big buddy smiles is being posted on Maria’s website. I will repeat, I was not giving her little bits of throwaway gossip, I was revealing disturbing facts.
Her absolutely disgraceful response proved the warning the Inspector had given me was valid advice. But there was no way I could keep silent when it came to children being put at risk. I voiced my concerns toSir Hugh Orde, head of the Association of Chief Police Officers. I have never received a response. Then suddenly I was facing disciplinary action. Great, I could bring it up in my disciplinary hearing, then something would have to be done. Wrong! The ACC who was hearing the disciplinary Colin Matthews put a time bar on what I could ask to be clarified. One of the things I needed clarifying was a statement made bySgt Tracy O’Hara. That is very interesting to note.
Sgt Tracy O’Hara is the Chair of the Gay and Lesbian Support Network at Merseyside Police. I took exception to the fact she was encouraging Gay males to join the Force then if they were unlucky enough to suffer homophobic bullying she would abandon them to it. (let me stress some Gay Officers never experience homophobia, it’s the luck of the draw if they are placed with the wrong block. Human nature is bigotry will be found somewhere everywhere) We got into a heated argument and I accused her of being a Promotional Prostitute who was selling her own kind down the line to climb the ranking ladder. In one big outburst I blurted out that I was not convinced she was not fully aware of the paedos. I could not have said to a worse person, the Bosses would soon know I was on to it.
When the PSD compiled my disciplinary file they by mistake included a memo from Tracy O’Hara in which she discusses being in a meeting involving the TRUE Team. During that meeting I was discussed and Tracy uses these words,
“This could compromise the situation for all of us!”
What? Just how is my talking about homophobic bullying and paedophile covering-up compromising the members of the TRUE Team? That is an explosive slip up on O’Hara’s part. It is who she is saying it to that is scandalous. The Head of the TRUE Team at the time was ACCPatricia Gallan. That is one step away from a Deputy Chief Constable. And Gallan did not pull O’Hara up on daring to suggest she and others in the Force could be compromised by those issues being discussed?
That is what I wanted to ask during my disciplinary but ACC Colin Matthews would not allow me to. I appealed against this in front of the Police Authority (Made up of Local Councillors) and when they asked Matthews to explain his actions he responded with, “No Comment!” and they accepted that as valid reply. Interesting to note, when I asked the Police and Crime Commissioner Jane Kennedy for all the paperwork, none existed. Luckily for me and unfortunate for Jane Kennedy I had kept the copy of the memo sent by Tracy O’Hara and refused to give it back to the PSD when they demanded it.
But what happened when I reported the deal-striking to Jane Kennedy, the IPCC, the Home Office and a plethora of MPs. I could make this blog run into War and Peace if I named everyone that knows it is going on and has done nothing. Enough to say, why am I having to write this Blog?
But I will tell you about the Crime Panel who is suppose to keep Jane Kennedy on her toes. When Jane Kennedy was first elected as PCC for Merseyside the Crime Panel made a point of stating that they did not believe she would hold the Force and Chief Constable to account or be open and transparent with the Public. Yet, they ignored my complaint that she was refusing to ask the IPCC into to investigate the deal-striking after the Force had blocked me doing so with the Police Reform Act 2002. I sent multiple requests for a response only for me to be told that the Crime Panel had heard my concerns BUT…
The deal-striking issue had been left out because they were sure I could appeal elsewhere. No I cannot, I called their bluff and asked them where I could appeal to. Could not tell me, then reluctantly informed me they would put it to the Sub Crime Panel. Silence again, I still have not heard anything else. The Crime Panel is made up of Local Councillors and is headed by Mayor Joe Anderson who championed Jane Kennedy standing as PCC because, to use his words “She will be loyal to Labour!”
Not once has Joe Anderson ever shown any concern or interest in the information on deal-striking. I challenged Joe Anderson to agree to have his name run through NICHE to show he was an upright citizen. Never responded.
And here is the rub in the issue. If the Government and Select Committees were genuine in their claims to challenge paedophilia and general corruption they would all agree to having their names run through NICHE, but none will. You can be a prolific offender and never get a criminal record. You have to be charged first and some people have nice little deals going with their Forces to ensure that does not happen.
The truth is MPs are fully aware there is deal-striking going on not just between Merseyside Police and local MPs and Councillors, it happens in all Forces.
Well before you were reading about Savile, PIE etc I was warning of those kind of things happening. You will hear Keith Vaz MP voice his shock and horror over Rochdale and how inefficient the IPCC is. What the Right Honourable Keith Vaz will not say publically is that on multiple occasions he ignored my pleas for help when Maria Eagle was doing absolutely nothing and to this day continues to refuse to raise the issue in Parliament.
I will continue with this in my next blog when I discuss the Parliamentary Administration Committee and its claims to be wanting to help Police Whistleblowers. As they say in all the best pantomimes,

could be dangerous, even if that man were the most honorable
on Earth. But is Mr. Bush honorable? Is he really the type of
man to have control of our children's futures?" So leads, in
large print, the front page of Australia's most widely read
newsletter, Inside News, under the bold headline of its November
1991 issue: "Is George Bush the World's Leading
Child Molester?" The populist newsletter, which has a
200,000 circulation, reflects widespread sentiments abroad
that President Bush is not the guardian of the world moral
order he claims to be-not even in his private conduct.
In the course of a 20-page special edition, the newsletter's
publisher, Peter Sawyer, released for the first time anywhere
documents passed to him by Australian and U.S . law enforcement
sources, in which child victim-witnesses from the
infamous Franklin Credit Union scandal in Nebraska allege
that then-Vice President George Bush personally attended
sodomy and child sex parties organized by Franklin boss
Lawrence E. King.
Bush was defended from these charges in an article in
Gentlemen's Quarterly. GQ is a U.S.-based "men's" magazine
which features erotic advertisements of both homosexual
and heterosexual appeal, for underwear, perfume, liquor,
and the like. GQ included in the same issue a lengthy story
puffing Trinidad, Colorado--"The Sex Change Capital of
America."
Nebraska pedophile scandal
The documents printed in Australia are police and state
child-care reports which apparently were produced as evidence
to the Nebraska State Senate's "Franklin Committee,"
which probed the collapse of the minority-oriented credit
union which was headed by "Larry" King, a nationally prominent
black Republican who campaigned for President Bush
in 1988.
The credit union, based in the black section of north
Omaha, collapsed in November 1988, amid allegations that
King was running a nationwide child prostitution and drug
ring. The allegations have never been proven, because all
inquiries have come under heavy poliitical pressur, ac-
cording to those close to the case. One victim-witness who
testified to such abuse as a teenager was thrown in jail for
12-27 years for perjury, while 15 other witnesses in the case
died mysterious, often violent, deaths – including the death
in a suspicious plane crash of Gary Caradori, the chief inves-
tigator for the Nebraska State Senate's ''Franklin Com-
mittee."
In November 1988, King's offices were raided by the
FBI and $40 million was discovered to be missing. Within
weeks, the Nebraska Senate, which initially opened an enqui-
ry to find out where the money had gone, instead found
itself questioning young adults who said they had been been child
prostitutes. Social workers and child-care administra-
tors accused King of running a child prostitution ring.
King is now serving a 15-year federal prison sentence for
defrauding the Omaha-based credit union. Two magazines,
A vvenimenti of Italy and Pronto of Spain, among others,
have charged that King ran a child prostitution ring
that serviced the political and elite of both the Re-
publican and Democratic parties. Child victims of King's
operations charged him with participating in at least one
satanic ritual murder of a child. The Washington Post, New
York Times, and National Law Journal covered the full range
of accusations when the story broke in November 1988.
King's money machinations were also linked to the IranContra
affair, and some say King provided the CIA with
information garnered from his alleged activities as a "pimp"
for the high and mighty.
Pronto, the largest-circulation weekly in Spain, with 4.5
million readers, reported in its Aug. 3 and Aug. 10 issues
that Roy Stephens, a private investigator who has worked on
the case and heads the Missing Youth Foundation, "says
there is reason to believe that the CIA is directly implicated,"
and that the "FBI refuses to help in the investigation and has
sabotaged any efforts" to get to the bottom of the story.
Stephens says that "Paul Bonacci directly accused President
Bush of being implicated" in the affair when he testified
before the Franklin Committee. Bonacci, who had been one
of the child prostitutes, is identified by child-abuse experts
as a well-informed, credible witness. On Nov. 20, he was
highlighted on a St. Louis KSDK-TV news report for having
helped police investigating the best-known child kidnaping,
the disappearance of Johnny Gosch.
The documents published by Inside News provide a possible
rationale for what many observers of the case say have
been repeated attempts to bury the story. The violent suppression
of all official inquiries into the allegations is attributed
to concern that-as bizarre as the charges sound against the
President-many Americans perceive that sexual degeneracy
is nonchalantly accepted by the U.S. political elites who
preach austerity to the Third World and to Americans suffering
from Bush's depression. Outrage about such conduct in
Bush's circles could fuel in the United States the kind of
revenge the East Germans sought, when they found out that
the Honecker dictatorship was wallowing in illegal drug
profits while citizens starved.
After a dissection of the coverup, including photostats of
documents which indicate complicity by the FBI in covering
for child abuse, murder, and satanism, Inside News publisher
Sawyer focused on the children's testimony about Bush.
The first account is from 1986, more than two years
before the Larry King scandal started making headlines. It is
a handwritten debriefing taken in March 1986 by child-care
worker Julie Walters of two Omaha children, Eulice (nicknamed
Lisa) and Tracey Washington Webb, who had been
placed as foster children with, and then adopted by, Larry
King's cousins, Jarrett and Barbara Webb. Jarrett was a
board member of Franklin Credit Union.
Wrote Walters, "Lisa has accompanied Mr. and Mrs.
King and Prince [their son] on trips to Chicago, New York,
and Washington, D.C., beginning when she was 15 years
old. She missed 22 days of school almost totally due to these
trips. Lisa was taken along on the pretense of being Prince's
babysitter. Last year she met V.P. George Bush and saw him
again at one of the parties Larry gave while on a Washington,
D.C. trip. At some of the parties there are just men (as was
the case at the party George Bush attended) older men and
younger men in their early 20s: Lisa said she has seen sodomy
committed at those parties. "
Walters, who left Nebraska before the scandal broke and
is currently a housewife in the Midwest, confirmed that she
wrote the report and that it had become part of the official
Nebraska State Senate inquiry:.
Lisa and Tracey were badly beaten by Jarrett and Barbara
Webb, and were ultimately taken from their home by state
foster-care officials. Lisa passed four lie detector tests regarding
her accounts of the abuse, and both Julie Walters and
Lisa and Tracey's new foster mother, Kathleen Sorenson,
stated that they not only believed the girls in general, but
specifically their accounts of George Bush's reported
involvement. Not long after the debriefing, Sorenson died in
a car crash which was evaluated by former Los Angeles
FBI chief and expert in satanism Ted Gunderson as being a
"satanic contract."
Franklin Committee investigator Jerry Lowe also debriefed
Lisa, who told him the same story in 1989. According
to a report dated May 8, 1989, J Lowe reported: "Eulice [Lisa]
indicated that she recognized George Bush as coming to the
party and that Bush had two large white males with him.
Eulice indicated Bush came to the party approximately 45
minutes after it started and that he was greeted by Larry King.
Eulice indicated that she knew George Bush due to the fact
that he had been in political campaigns and also she had
observed a picture of Bush with Larry King at Larry King's
house in Omaha."

'Men's' magazine defends Bush
The 13-page Gentlemen's Quarterly article was written
by senior investigative journalist James Traub and is an apparent
attempt at a legal brief-style refutation of all the accusations
contained in the Austtalian coverage, as well as the
widely circulated rumors in Nebraska and in the nation's
capital on the scandal.
Traub repeated the pervasive rumors about Bush as he
pooh-poohed the story in general. "We do have some credible
witnesses who say that 'Yes, George Bush does have a
problem,' " Omaha businessman Steve Bowman told GQ in
the December issue. Bowmap owns a public relations firm
. and has had four researchers. working on the Franklin case
for two years, preparing a book on the scandal.
The thrust of the article is: Yes, there was corruption;
yes, there was homosexual sex; yes, there was politics involved,
but no way was there a child prostitution ring. Traub
offers some condescending sociological explanations for the
intense interest and widespread belief among Nebraskans
of a coverup (over 90% of Nebraska's citizens polled have
repeatedly stated they believe there is a coverup). In a swipe
at State Sen . Loran Schmit, who headed the Franklin Committee
and has been an advocate of a more thorough investigation,
Traub sneers, "Schmit represents a rural area west of
Omaha, and he bums with the mistrust of city life that once
inflamed the prairie with populist passion. Drug abuse, homosexuality,
and child prostitution were precisely what he
expected from a place like Omaha."
Traub writes, "And then there was the terrible, panicinducing
phrase 'child abuse.' Over the past decade or so,
legitimate concerns about such abuse have spiraled into a
nationwide outbreak of the sort of paranoia that surrounded
the Salem witch trials. But no children were ever involved
in this case. Owen, Boner, and Danny King [three alleged
child prostitutes--ed .) had been sexually active teenagers at
the time of the supposed forced sex and Bacchic riot. The
only child even mentioned was a 9-year-old boy, whom the
least reliable ofCaradori's witnesses claimed to have seen in
the company of George Bush at one of Larry King's Washington
parties." (Traub's description of some witnesses as
"sexually active teenagers" recalls the excuse of Milwaukee
police when they failed to rescue a ?Ieeding victim of mass
murderer Jeffrey Dahmer, believing the youngster, who was
killed later that night, to be a consenting homosexual in a
domestic spat.)
Traub also denigrated the Schiller Institute, founded by
Helga Zepp-LaRouche, which organized a fact-finding commission
that visited Nebraska in Octdber 1990. Traub writes,
"In October, a contingent from the Lyndon LaRouche organization'
which welcomes all conspiracy theories as contributions
to its own late-19th-century-vintage vision of Anglo-
American world domination, arrive in Omaha to spread the
gospel among the credulous."

LATE Northleach music museum owner Keith Harding is believed to have been a part of a notorious paedophile campaign group, it has been reported.
Keith Harding, owner of Keith Harding's World of Mechanical Music in Northleach, died in June of this year after losing his battle with bowel cancer.
According to the BBC, he was part of the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE) and linked to child abuser Jimmy Saville.
He was convicted of indecent assault against four children aged eight and nine in the late 1950s and was a 'schedule 1' offender, meaning his convictions remained on his police file for life, the BBC reported.
Born in Nottinghamshire, Mr Harding was educated at Oakley Hall in Cirencester before moving on to Haileybury College in Hertfordshire.
In 1987, he and his wife and children moved to Northleach and he started up Keith Harding’s World of Mechanical Music.

A guest on Jimmy Savile's BBC TV show Jim'll Fix It, was a convicted child molester with links to a notorious paedophile network.
The BBC has revealed that antiques expert Keith Harding was active in the Paedophile Information Exchange (PIE), according to documents.
Harding, who died in June, had been convicted of sex offences in the 1950s.
The Radio 4 Today programme said it had seen confidential social services reports confirming Keith Harding's "involvement" with the Paedophile Information Exchange (Pie).
It also described the appearance of Harding - who died earlier this year - on the 1980 Christmas edition of the BBC's Jim'll Fix It as a "set-up" by the programme's producers.
According to Today, Harding was convicted of indecent assault against four children aged eight and nine in the late 1950s and was a "schedule 1" offender - meaning his convictions remained on his police file for life.

However he was subsequently given the Freedom of the City of London and became a member of the Worshipful Company of Clockmakers, as well as running a museum regularly visited by children.
In December 1980, he was filmed by Jim'll Fix It at his workshop in Islington, north London, where he fixed a music box belonging to a 13-year-old girl whose letter was shown on screen requesting the repair.
She then appeared with her younger brother in the studio alongside Harding and Savile - who has since been exposed as a serial child abuser.
The girl's brother - named only as Dean - told the Today programme that the feature was "set up" by the production team who instigated the item by approaching the family.
"She was asked to write that letter. The way it came about was that my uncle was asked by his then girlfriend, who was a researcher at the BBC, if anybody in the family had a musical box," he said.
"Obviously the letter must have been done after the facts."
Dean said he and his sister were chaperoned by a relative throughout their time on the programme and nothing untoward took place.
The Today programme said it had not been possible to establish the motive for engineering Harding's appearance on Jim'll Fix It in this way.
In a statement, the BBC said: "Today's BBC has appropriate safeguards in place to protect children and young people.

Former BBC radio DJ Noel Edmonds has made the shocking claim that the Royal Family and Margaret Thatcher conspired to cover up Jimmy Savile’s decades-long reign of sexual abuse, including the rape of children and sexual offences against the dead.
He also defended convicted sex offender DJ Dave Lee Travis, saying he was ‘not a nasty guy’ and just ‘misguided’.
Edmonds, who spent much of the Seventies working alongside Savile and Travis at the BBC, said that it was not fair to blame the Corporation for covering up hundreds of sex crimes, some against children as young as eight.
‘What transpired was unspeakable,’ he told the Mail on Sunday’s Event magazine, ‘But it’s wrong to blame the culture of the BBC.’

‘Savile was in deep with the Royals, with Mrs Thatcher, with the hospitals and with Broadmoor.

But Dave Lee Travis – the former BBC DJ who was recently found guilty of indecent assault – was not in the same league as Savile, Edmonds argued.
‘He’s not a nasty guy,’ Edmonds said. ‘There was no bad vibe about him. I was never aware of anything remotely sleazy about Dave. At worst he was possibly misguided.’
Savile often flaunted his friendship with the Royal Family, and spent Christmas at Chequers with Mrs Thatcher when she was Prime Minister.

Since the revelations of Jimmy Savile’s prolific sex offending came to light last year there has been a palpable effort on the part of the government and much of the media (most notably the BBC, where Savile worked – and abused children – for decades) to brush the issue under the carpet. The disturbing implications as to how Savile was able to operate unimpeded and his connections to rich and powerful people, have been put aside in favour of focusing media attention on other minor celebrities and has-beens and the occasional dead politician. While there have been hints pointing to paedophile rings linked to members of the government – notably after Tom Watson MP raised the issue in Parliament – few mainstream journalists have conducted a thorough investigation, and the idea of organized networks of child abusers reaching into the upper echelons of society is rarely considered a possibility.
Even more outlandish is the notion that some of these paedophiles are carrying out Satanic ritual abuse on their victims – something so shocking and far-fetched that it hardly bares contemplating. But information is coming to light which suggests that, far from being a nightmarish fantasy, devil-worshipping ritual abuse could be a disturbing reality.
On the 19th January, the Mirror ran a story titled, “Pervert MP Cyril Smith was pals with satanic child sex monster.” outlining how deceased paedophile MP Cyril Smith was involved in satanic rituals and the rape of children as young as 2. Victim Michael Roberts, 40, provided shocking details of the rituals, set up by his stepdad Michael Horgan, a man who became known as the High Priest of Satan. Like-minded paedophiles, including the knighted MP Smith, attended events where young girls and boys were repeatedly raped while being filmed – some of the “parties” took place on Saddleworth Moor, where child killers Ian Brady and Myra Hindley had buried their victims. Evidence of Smith’s paedophilia was presented to the authorities in 1970, 1998 and 1999 but charges were never brought – as with Jimmy Savile, who’s activities were brought to the attention of the police on numerous occasions during his lifetime, it was only after his death that Smith was exposed as a paedophile.
Not only were Savile and Smith both able to operate as prolific paedophiles, both were knighted (perhaps a hint as to how they managed to avoid prosecution throughout their lives – Greater Manchester Police and the Crown Prosecution Service have both claimed there was “overwhelming evidence” against Smith) and were close friends for decades. And Savile, it seems, may have also been involved in Satanic-based ritual abuse, conducted in the basements of hospitals such as Stoke Mandeville, where Savile was a volunteer porter and fundraiser between 1965 and 1988. Dr Valerie Sinason recounted the experience of the victim to the Sunday Express:
“She recalled being led into a room that was filled with candles on the lowest level of the hospital, somewhere that was not regularly used by staff. Several adults were there, including Jimmy Savile who, like the others, was wearing a robe and a mask. She recognised him because of his distinctive voice and the fact that his blond hair was protruding from the side of the mask. He was not the leader but he was seen as important because of his fame. She was molested, raped and beaten and heard words that sounded like ‘Ave Satanas’, a Latinised version of ‘Hail Satan’, being chanted. There was no mention of any other child being there and she cannot remember how long the attack lasted but she was left extremely frightened and shaken.”
Additional accounts emerged in the same paper a few days later, detailing the ordeal of a 13 year old girl who was tied to an altar during a black mass at a secret venue. “Savile then climbed on to the table and raped me. Others around him called out Satan’s name and laughed hysterically and were worked up into a frenzy.” During her horrific ordeal, one of the devil worshippers sneered: “You definitely fixed this one, Jim!”
Perhaps understandably, there are many who react to these allegations with incredulity, accusing those who make such allegations of suffering from delusions or out to cash in on Savile’s notoriety (although the recent Express story notes that the victim received no money for her story). An examination of Jimmy Savile’s life, however, indicates that these allegations might be closer to the truth than most people realise. In an interview with Esquire – reported here in the Daily Mail – Savile stated, “I am also the eminence grise: the grey, shadowy figure in the background. The thing about me is I get things done and I work under cover.”
Here is an overview of some of Savile’s connections:
For a children’s television presenter, Savile had close relationships with a number of prominent politicians, including Prime Ministers. Correspondence between Savile and former Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher – heavily redacted by civil servants in the wake of the child abuse revelations – reveal that Savile and Thatcher met frequently as he sought funding for Stoke Mandeville hospital, where many of his abuses took place. He was also a frequent visitor to Chequers, spending New Year’s Eve with the Thatcher family on a number of occasions. Savile told Esquire, “I knew the real woman and the real woman was something else.”
In 1971 Jimmy Savile joined Lord Longford’s Commission on Pornography, along with six peers, an archbishop, three bishops, three professors, Cliff Richard and Gyles Brandreth. Longford was lampooned by the media for touring sex clubs in Denmark, but perhaps more controversial was his unsuccessful campaign for the early release of child killer Myra Hindley. While it is quite possible that Longford and the Commission knew nothing about Savile’s offending at the time, he nevertheless seems an odd choice. Longford’s niece Harriet Harman faced controversy when it emerged she once advocated the watering down of child pornography laws during her time as legal officer for the National Council for Civil Liberties (known today as Liberty).
From 1974 to 1984 the UK-based pro-paedophilia group the Paedophile Information Exchange (P.I.E.) operated, affiliated with the NCCL. An open letter to Lord Patten, chairman of the BBC Trust, indicated that Savile was a known member of this organization. In his call for a thorough investigation of paedophile rings linked to No. 10 Downing Street, Tom Watson cited the investigation and conviction of Peter Righton, a founding member of P.I.E. and the former director of education at the National Institute for Social Work, and other investigators have cited his links to an assistant bishop, artists, aristocrats and public school teachers in a network which had infiltrated all 12 of the children’s homes run by Islington council. If Savile’s connection to P.I.E. is true then his involvement in this network is highly likely – when the Righton investigation was closed, former Det Ch Supt Mike Hames (more from him later), head of Scotland Yard’s Obscene Publications Squad wrote: “We have only touched the tip of a huge national and international problem.” The BBC series Inside Story produced a detailed documentary on the case:
Savile’s political connections extended to Israel, where he met the president of Israel who invited him to address the country’s cabinet in 1975. Speaking of his meeting with President Ephraim Katzir, Savile said, “When the president came to me, he asked how I was enjoying my visit to Israel. I said I was very disappointed: the Israelis had won the Six Day War but they had given back all the land, including the only oil well in the region, and were now paying the Egyptians more for oil than if they had bought it from Saudi Arabia. I said: ‘You have forgotten to be Jewish’. He said: ‘Would you like to tell my cabinet that?’ Next morning, I went to the Knesset and they interrupted a cabinet meeting and I told them the same as I had told him.”
These political connections were crucial for the establishment of locations where Savile could carry out his abuse. As well as his suite at Stoke Mandeville, where he practiced necrophilia and sex with “underage subnormals“, Savile also had the keys to the high security Broadmoor hospital, where staff described him as a “psychopath” with a “liking for children”. It was here that Savile is believed to have befriended Peter “The Yorkshire Ripper” Sutcliffe – following on from Savile’s death it was revealed that he was a suspect in the notorious case. Savile was appointed to Broadmoor in 1988 when Ken Clarke was health secretary – when controvery over the appointment emerged, Clarke stated, “I have no recollection of ever having met Jimmy Savile and no recollection of these events. The Department of Health are rightly now investigating to establish the facts.” Former health minister Edwina Currie was also criticized for her role in Savile’s appointment, to which she responded that she had “nothing to hide”.
Savile’s influence reached even deeper into the British establishment, with strong connections to the royal family dating back to 1966 when he was introduced to them by Lord Mountbatten who realised Savile could be “a useful contact”. Before his assassination at the hands of the IRA, Mountbatten was implicated in the Kincora boys’ home abuse scandal – the book War of the Windsors by Stephen Prior, Lynn Picknett and Clive Prince states, “He was also said to have an interest in what homosexuals call ‘rough trade’ and to be particularly attracted to working-class boys in their early teens,” and claims that rumours had “even linked him with the notorious scandal surrounding the Kincora Boys’ Home, where a network of teenage boys were made available to VIPs.” During his relationship with the royals Savile was described by Diana as a “sort of mentor” to Charles, but Savile was notoriously tight-lipped about his relationship with the family: he told one biographer, “Anything to do with matters royal is a no-go area.” When asked by Louis Theroux about his relationship with the House of Windsor, Savile refused to discuss the matter, telling the BBC presenter, “I’m not a grass”. James Wilson Vincent Savile became Sir James Wilson Vincent Savile OBE in 1990 – at the time of writing his honours have yet to be rescinded.
Jimmy Savile was also honoured with a Papal knighthood by being made a Knight Commander of the Pontifical Equestrian Order of Saint Gregory the Great (KCSG) by Pope John Paul II in 1990. Pope John Paul II faced intense criticism for his handling of evidence of the widespread abuse of tens of thousands of children, remaining passive as litigation and prosecutions spread. The Catholic Church continues to protect paeedophile priests to this day – hardly surprising, given the Vatican’s sordid history helping thousands of Nazis escape Europe (with the assistance of the Red Cross) and building a secret property empire with Mussolini’s millions.
Clearly, Savile was incredibly well connected. From serial killers and gangsters (Savile associated with Ronnie Kray), to Popes, Prime Ministers and royalty, he was also closely linked to a number of notorious paedophiles and may have committed murder. He has also been linked to Haut de la Garenne, the children’s home in Jersey where evidence of historic child abuse came to light in 2008 (and which many believe became subject to a massive cover-up). Savile initially denied visiting Haut de la Garenne, but later admitted that he had done so, following the publication of a photograph showing him at the home surrounded by children.
As for Savile and Satanism, no conclusive evidence exists, although the following video clip does go some way to suggest how he perceived “God”:
Just how pervasive institutional paedophila is will probably never be known – as the Savile revelations have revealed, powerful forces are present which instigate cover-ups and often hinder full and open inquiries, shifting the focus away from organized networks to individual cases. One man who is qualified to comment on the nature and extent of the problem is Michael Hames, the former head of the Obsene Publications Branch. In his book The Dirty Squad, which outlines in some detail the case of Peter Righton, he says of the “international problem”:
“The fact is evident from the never-ending allegations of sexual abuse in the child-care system, and the hundreds upon hundreds of social workers who have been convicted of the systematic, planned abuse of children in their care … the child-care system has been thoroughly infiltrated at all levels by abusers. They have protected each other by subtle processes of misinformation, by the creation of doubt about the credibility of their victims, and by steady reassurances that all is well. Blatant and arrogant denial, even in the face of incriminating evidence, is a reaction native to the mentality of the paedophile, and it gets more of them off the hook than might be imagined.”
The extent to which the problem affects politics is hinted at in the following list of MPs convicted for sex offenses.
As Hames states, the problem is an international one. As this CNN report indicates, the downloading of child pornography by employees of the Pentagon was widespread – and largely ignored:

In Belgium, the case of Marc Dutroux and the ineffectiveness of the prosecutors to uncover the truth led to a mass protest from the Belgian public. Again, allegations of a high-level cover-up were made, as outlined in the following documentary from the BBC (which once again reminds us of a time when the corporation was capable of hard-hitting investigative journalism):
The “Dutroux Affair” had shades of Satanism, practiced by European elites, in scenes which conjure images of a far more dark and twisted version of the occult orgies depicted in Stanley Kubrick’s Eyes Wide Shut. Peter Conradi, writing in the Sunday Times on December 29, 1996, reported:
“Brussels Satanic sects involved in bizarre rites including human sacrifice are being linked by Belgian police with this summer’s string of grisly paedophile murders in which at least four children died. Five witnesses came forward last week and described how black masses were held, at which children were killed in front of audiences said to have included prominent members of Belgian society. One investigator said it was “like going back to the Middle Ages”. The tentacles of the sects appear to have stretched beyond the borders of Belgium, to Holland, Germany and even America. The witnesses – several of whom claim to have received death threats – say that young babies were handed over by their parents willingly in return for money. In other cases the victims were abducted. The witnesses, who are believed to have identified the sites where the masses took place to the police, said organisers had also photographed participants and threatened to hand over the pictures if they went to the police.”
While most high-ranking paedophiles tend to escape prosecution once the cover-up machine goes into overdrive, there are occasional convictions which further highlight the extent of the problem. Jos Verbeek, the director of Unicef’s Belgian committee, was arrested and charged with inciting minors to debauchery – the case led to the resignation of the head of the United Nations Children’s Fund in Belgium. Unicef would later expose the raping of children in Sudan by UN staff, while the role of UN contractor Dyncorp in human trafficking and forced prostitution was revealed by a UN whistleblower.
The true reach of the tentacles of seemingly intertwining paedophile networks – and the heights they reach in the upper strata of society (who certainly have historical form when it comes to excess and debauchery) – will probably never come to light, despite all the good intentions and hard work of the investigators and crusaders doing their best to expose the systematic abuse of children.
“What you have to understand, John, is that sometimes there are forces and events too big, too powerful, with so much at stake for other people or institutions, that you cannot do anything about them, no matter how evil or wrong they are and no matter how dedicated or sincere you are or how much evidence you have. That is simply one of the hard facts of life you have to face. You have done your part. You have tried to expose the evil and wrongdoing. It has hurt you terribly. But it has not killed you up to this point. I am telling you, get out of this before it does.”

Jimmy Savile gleefully informed the
prime minister about "my girl patients"
after meeting her at a Downing Street
fund-raising ceremony where he sought
advice on charities' tax deductions.
A letter preserved in Downing Street's
records sheds fresh light on the
extraordinary access the now disgraced
BBC television presenter enjoyed at the
height of his popularity.
In the letter sent to Margaret Thatcher
during her first year in office, Savile
displayed all his brazen charms. The
note, featuring a prominent colour
photo of himself, declared: "Dear Prime
Minister, I waited a week before writing
to thank you for my lunch invitation
because I had such a superb time I
didn't want to be too effusive.
"My girl patients pretended to be madly
jealous and wanted to know what you
wore and what you ate. All the
paralysed lads called me 'Sir James' all
week. They all love you. Me too!! Jimmy
Savile OBE xxx."
A subsequent Downing Street note
showed sensitivity only about the
financial aspect of government dealings
with the former disc jockey. "Jimmy
Saville asked you about the length of
time necessary for charitable covenants
to qualify for tax relief," a prime
ministerial aide noted. ".. the chancellor
has already decided to reduce the time
period for 7 years to 4 years in next
finance bill. We can not even hint at
this to Jimmy Savile at present."
Thatcher and Savile met quite often. The
file records two further public
engagements in early 1981. "Jimmy
Saville saw the prime minister this
morning with the architect's plans for
Stoke Mandeville Hospital," another
report records. "He suggested to her that
as a goodwill gesture to all the members
of the public who had contributed, the
prime minister might be prepared to
give a 'government grant'."
A letter from the Department of Health
and Social Security suggested she should
not spend NHS cash but make a
"symbolic gesture; such as the donation
of the first brick (if this was not too
late)."
In March 1981, Savile had lunch with
Thatcher at Chequers - prompting
anxious enquiries from her civil
servants. "Prime Minister: Can you
kindly let me know if you made any
promises to Jimmy Savile when he
lunched with you yesterday, for
instance: (i) Did you offer him any
money for Stoke Mandeville? (ii) Did
you tell him that you would appear on
Jim'll Fix it?"
Against the last question Thatcher
scrawled in her trademark, dark felt
pen: 'No'. In terms of the cash, she
wrote: "Promised to get govt
contribution. MT."
The government eventually donated
£500,000 to Stoke Mandeville. The
exchanges may well be characteristic of
a more innocent-minded era but some
papers and sections of the file remain
withheld from public scrutiny for
another 10 years, including the contents
of a letter and a "telephone message"
from Saville to Downing Street on

'Former Bill star Ben Fellows faces court date after being accused of perverting the course of justice.
An actor is due to go on trial later this year charged with making a false claim that former cabinet minister Ken Clarke indecently assaulted him in 1994.
Ben Fellows, 40, of Redstone Farm Road, Olton, Solihull, Birmingham, is charged with perverting the course of public justice on November 30 2012 by making an allegation of sexual assault against the MP.
The case was brought before Mr Justice Sweeney at the Old Bailey last Friday.
The court heard that Fellows would appear for a plea and case management hearing on March 20 with a provisional two-week trial due to start on July 20.
A High Court judge will be appointed for the trial.
Former justice secretary Mr Clarke, 74, has represented Rushcliffe in Nottinghamshire as Member of Parliament since 1970 and is contesting his seat at the upcoming general election.
