'.The family of a toddler left disfigured after police threw a stun grenade into his playpen are 'devastated' that the officers involved will not face any charges.

Bounkham Phonesavanh, known as 'Baby Bou Bou', lost part of his nose and left nipple, and suffered burns to his face, brain injuries and a collapsed lung when the grenade exploded while he was sleeping on May 28.

But after hearing evidence for six days, this week a Georgia grand jury opted not to charge any SWAT officers who took part in the botched drug raid in which the 19-month-old was injured.
The Phonesavanh's family attorney Mawuli Davis told CBS 46 Atlanta: 'We are reviewing the grand jury findings with our client.

'They are devastated and trying to comprehend the gravity of this decision.

'This is a very sad day for this family and for the people of Georgia.'

The incident occurred while Bou Bou's mom Alecia Phonesavanh was staying with her husband, their three daughters and their baby son in the living room of her sister-in-law's home just outside of Atlanta.

They were living with relatives after their Wisconsin home burned down earlier that year.





The Habersham SWAT team executed a no-knock warrant on the property while searching for a relative they believed was a drug dealer and had a cache of weapons inside, The Atlanta-Journal Constitution reported.

The search turned up neither guns nor drugs. Wanis Thonetheva, who did not live at the property, was arrested later that day and charged with possession of methamphetamine.'

Don't they have "negligence" laws in the states. If not the guy who threw the grenade at least the intelligence team who briefed them about guns and drugs

'A burglar alarm was tripped in a Groveland, Florida home and two Groveland police officers let themselves into the garage and then the house. While searching the home, they came across an 11-year-old girl in bed watching TV and promptly pinned her to the ground at gunpoint:

"One of the officers was pushing me down and when he was pushing me down, (he) put his knee on me and the other officer had his gun pointed at me," she told Channel 9.
Groveland police have opened an investigation of excessive force and it isn't the first time the duo have been investigated:

Channel 9 found Officers James Festa and John Rigdon have been with the department for three years, and both have been disciplined several times, according to their personnel files.
Festa was reprimanded in December for botching a child abuse investigation. He was also been suspended in 2013 for sleeping on the job.

Rigdon was suspended in May and demoted in 2013 from corporal. He was also reprimanded in 2011. Each punishment was the result of allegedly filing false police reports.'

'Back in October, three middle school girls sustained injuries and ended up being treated at a hospital all because a pretty terrible school police officer was clearly not very good at her job. It has come to the surface now as video evidence, from the school itself, shows the entire episode unfold.
Two sisters and their cousin, Diamond Starr, students at Vanguard Middle School in Baltimore, found themselves pepper-sprayed, and beaten with a police baton. Diamond Starr received 10 stitches as a result of a gash to her head. I'll let the video below the fold do most of the talking. What is being reported is that one of the girls refused to be condesended to and was quickly assaulted by the police officer. When her sister and then her cousin come to her defense things continue to escalate.

Let us be clear on this: even if the girls in the video dropped nothing but f-bombs and c-bombs at the officer, that officer has degraded her position with her actions.'
