huge numbers of Scots living outside Scotland who were not allowed to vote. There must be millions of people entitled to Scottish nationality

There's no such thing as Scottish nationality on which to give people a vote. And if Scots abroad should have been given a vote, why not people in the UK?

Not yet but why limit the voters to current residents of Scotland? Don't UK nationals abroad have postal votes in UK elections? You don't stop being Scottish just because you move and live elsewhere, unless you adopt another nationality. I think it is obvious that there are people who consider themselves Scottish but who do not live in Scotland just as there are people of a multitude of nationalities who live outside of their native countries. If Scots outside of Scotland are not entitled to vote on a referendum on independence then why are Scots resident in Scotland allowed to vote? They are all Scots aren't they? Will all the Scottish people who wish to return to Scotland one day be told they are not allowed to because they are not really Scottish? Will they be denied a Scottish passport?

Because they are not all Scottish. Only Scottish people should be allowed the right to determine the future of Scotland, whether they live in Scotland or elsewhere. If you lived abroad would you like it if the government said you could not vote in any election because you were not at home at the time of the election?
