A serving police officer was among three men arrested today on suspicion of conspiracy to pervert the course of justice in connection with false information given to police about a terror plot to kidnap an officer, West Midlands Police have said.
The men, aged 25, 28 and 31 years old and all from Birmingham, allegedly made a "false and malicious" call to West Midlands Police on 8th December last year.
The 28-year-old police officer, who works at Birmingham West & Central Local Policing Unit, was also arrested on suspicion of misconduct in a public office and misuse of police systems.
Police are also holding the other two suspects on suspicion of conspiracy to commit misconduct in a public office.
