Revealed: Mother on the run with her two daughters 'is hiding in woods with hippies after being helped to flee by cross-dressing ex-MI5 spy David Shayler'
A mother on the run with her two children is thought to be hiding in woodland with hippies after snatching them from care and fleeing on the advice of a renegade former MI5 spy.
Police and family members are growing increasingly concerned for the mental health of Angela Kelly, who vanished with her daughters Shanti Harborne, 12, and Maya-Rose Kelly-Johnson, five, on Sunday night after carrying them out of a foster home in their pyjamas.
Last night the father of one of the missing girls said he feared for their safety as it emerged that Miss Kelly, 46, had help from disgraced ex-MI5 agent David Shayler, who advised her to flee when police took the children into care on Saturday.
Family members claim the homeless former whistleblower, a friend of Miss Kelly who moved in with her and the children a fortnight ago, 'coached' her in how to evade the authorities.
Friends of Mr Shayler say he suffered a breakdown in recent years. In 2009, he was seen dressed as a transvestite calling himself 'Delores Kane' and wearing false breasts, a mini-skirt and a ginger wig.
But more recently the 49-year-old appeared as himself on a YouTube video claiming there is 'much evidence' that jihadis were not behind last year's Paris terrorist attacks. Mr Shayler has been advising Miss Kelly in her fight for custody of her children in care proceedings.
Before she disappeared, she wrote on Facebook that police had 'illegally' taken the children from her home in Roehampton, south-west London, on Saturday.
The children were taken to a foster home in Farnborough, Hampshire, later that evening.
But within 24 hours Miss Kelly, who runs a mobile food business, had tracked them down after Shanti messaged her with their whereabouts. Miss Kelly and her children were last seen in the Camberley area late on Sunday night, around five miles from the address in Farnborough.
Last night Mr Shayler said he did not know where the family had fled, but admitted helping Miss Kelly, whom he first met at a hippy festival a number of years ago.
The former spy spent years on the run after exposing alleged wrongdoing in the Secret Service, but returned to Britain from France voluntarily and was jailed for six months in 2002. In recent years he has become homeless and sought refuge with Miss Kelly last month.
Police appeal: Shanti Harbourne, 12, and Maya-Rose Kelly-Johnson, five, have not been seen since Sunday
Mr Shayler said that on Saturday 'I told her to run', but had not seen her since. He admitted he had passed on some of his knowledge such as tips on phone security.
Miss Kelly's former partner Richard Harborne, Shanti's father, said he feared she had taken the children to live with hippies 'in the woods', having spent time at communes in West London in the past.
Mr Harborne appealed to his former partner to hand herself in, adding: 'Her mental health is very much in question.'
Miss Kelly's mother, Sylvia, 69, said she suspects her daughter is autistic and fears for her and the children. 'If they're wandering around the forest, it's not safe,' she added.
The Metropolitan Police said it is becoming increasingly concerned for the 'high risk' missing children.

Piss poor reporting as usual from the Daily Fail
As far as I'm aware there is zero evidence David had a mental breakdown. That was and remains pure speculation.
I'm not sure what David is supposedly 'disgraced' about and
The sum total of evidence presented that DS has helped Miss Kelly is DS saying that he 'told her to run' and it is again PURE speculation whether they are or are not living in the woods with hippies.
According to this article
