9. The Unmasking of Jihadi John –
http://21stcenturywire.com/2015/12/31/year-in-review-our-top-ten-consp iracies-of-2015/
2015 possessed a myriad of media-driven personalities, but none were more compelling than the media-friendly terror avatar known as ‘Jihadi John’. The ISIS frontman’s video threats and staged beheadings surfaced in August of 2014, and lasted into January of 2015. They were carefully crafted propaganda pieces (presented by the highly dubious SITE Intelligence Group) and were meant to evoke an emotional response for the Western public – which they did. The media couldn’t get enough of the actor Jihadi John. While the black-clad villain’s videos appeared to be crudely staged green screen productions (but apparently good enough to fool the mainstream media and US and EU politicians) when compared to the heavily orchestrated large-scale ISIS executions that premiered in early 2015, there is no doubt that the ISIS video psychodrama has aided Western foreign policy objectives in both Syria and in Iraq, as coalition forces used the terror troupe’s media exploits for their surreptitious proxy war against the Syrian government, while also advancing a pretext for a larger conflict in war-torn Iraq. Moreover, the unmasking and alleged ‘drone assassination’ of Jihadi John in 2015, where US officials claimed, “we are reasonably certain he died in a drone strike” (if you believe that one, we have a compound in Abbotabad to sell you), the most amazing part of the Jihadi John drama was that British security services decided to disclose that they had known the identity of the terror mascot for over 6 months. It didn’t end there. While this news stunned the international community – it was then revealed that the man suspected of being the ISIS mouthpiece was known by MI5 for the past 6 years. The identity of the infamous ISIS actor was revealed to be a 27-year-old British computer programmer named Mohammad Emwazi from West London. This came after months of speculation that Emwazi’s friend from well-to-do Maida Vale, Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary was alleged to be the terror persona depicted in the beheading videos. In fact, it turned out that the pair had a longtime friendship, living just streets apart and were known as the “London Boys,” which featured a network of fanatics in West London linked back to the contemptible preacher Anjem Choudary (a likely MI5 informant alongside his previous cohort, the flamboyant tabloid mascot, Abu Hamza) who along with Omar Bakri, founded the terror labeled organization, Al-Muhajiroun. The banned terror group was known to be a prime recruitment tool by British intelligence as reported by The Guardian in 2005. Back in 2009, UK intelligence services in partnership with Metropolitan Police, announced the existence of a covert social engineering effort known as the The Channel Project, which was being run in hopes of targeting children with traits that may indicate an affinity to “extreme” views and a susceptibility to being groomed by “radicalisers” in the future. It goes without saying, that a secret program of this kind could just as easily be used to groom future ‘radicals’ and informants, too. Western political leaders and their media arms publicly discuss the idea of so-called terror ‘sleeper cells’ hiding in a nation near you, but none of them will acknowledge the historical fact that they themselves help to harbor, grow, foment and radicalize individuals through secret counter-terrorism operations. The entirety of the Jihadi John saga is wrought with questions, about Emwazi, the apparent drone assassination, the fake videos, and what sort of bizarre operation is being run by the British Police State – and how it’s connected to Islamic terror internationally. With Jihadi John out of the picture (for now), expect even more media sleight of hand directed at Western audiences.

From around June 2000 — in precisely the period when he was travelling to and from the UK with the FCO’s blessings — Omar Sheikh overall became the main conduit for the total of $500,000 funds wired in separate tranches to the 9/11 hijackers.
Yet it remains “a curious concern that neither Ahmed nor Sheikh have been charged and brought to trial over this incident,” said MJ Gohel, who serves on the United Nations Roster of Terrorism Experts, in evidence submitted in 2007 to the House of Commons Foreign Affairs Select Committee.
Still, Innes Bowen goes on to make much of Azhar’s and Sheikh’s influence on major UK terrorist plots like 7/7, 21/7, and the 2006 liquid bomb plot, which manifested “the consequences of the British Deobandi link with Masood Azhar.”
But Innes Bowen’s selective account allows her to avoid asking the most pressing question of all, regarding the HuM’s extraordinary freedom of movement in the UK.
The freedom of movement granted to Ahmed Omar Sheikh Saeed was a direct consequence of British intelligence’s determination that Masood Azhar’s militant movement would be a useful tools for ongoing dubious covert operations in the Balkans and beyond.
According to former US Justice Department prosecutor John Loftus, in 1996, MI6 had continued to recruit British Muslims to fight in the Balkans, specifically in Kosovo, through al-Muhajiroun. Founded that year by Omar Bakri Mohammed, al-Muhajiroun retained close working ties with Masood Azhar, using HuM camps to send Britons for terror training. The network is currently run under a new name by Bakri’s right-hand man, Anjem Choudary.
The Kosovo war, of course, broke out fully in 1998, culminating in the NATO intervention in March 1999.
Corroborating Loftus’ claim, Pulitizer Prize-winning reporter Ron Suskind obtained confirmation from a senior MI5 source — and I from a senior British terrorism lawyer — that Bakri had indeed been a longtime British intelligence informant.
In 1999, while Omar Sheikh was being courted by MI6, his HuM underlings were training a nexus of UK terrorists, some of whom went on to launch the 7/7 suicide attacks in London.
Chief 7/7 bomber Mohammed Sidique Khan and his friend Waheed Ali, who was jailed for trying to attend a training camp in Pakistan in 2007, had first trained at a HuM camp in late 2001, near Kashmir in Pakistan and a Taliban camp in Bagram, Afghanistan, just before 9/11.

“Throughout all of your speeches and broadcasts you expressed your contempt for the values of the democracy [freedom of expression?] in which we live,” Judge Holroyde said. “You show no remorse at all for anything you have said or done, and I have no doubt you will continue to communicate your message whenever you can.”

LONDON—A British judge sentenced Anjem Choudary, an Islamist cleric blamed for radicalizing young Muslims across Europe, to 5½ years in prison on Tuesday following his conviction for supporting terrorism.

A jury in July found Mr. Choudary guilty of inviting support for Islamic State in a series of online comments. Mr. Choudary’s close associate, 33-year-old Mohammed Mizanur Rahman, was also found guilty of the same charge. Prosecutors also accused both men of signing an oath of allegiance to the ultra-hard-line Sunni Muslim group.

In London’s Central Criminal Court on Tuesday, Judge Timothy Holroyde also handed Mr. Rahman, standing alongside Mr. Choudary in the dock, an identical sentence. During their trial, Mr. Choudary and Mr. Rahman denied the charges.

Upon their release, both men will have to report to police for 15 years.

Lawyers for the defendants didn’t respond to emails seeking comment. It isn’t yet clear if either Mr. Choudary or Mr. Rahman intend to appeal their sentences or the earlier verdicts.

U.K. officials hailed the convictions as a big win in their long-running battle to stem the spread of violent extremism. For years, British authorities have tried to curb what they say is Mr. Choudary’s malign impact on British Muslims. Security officials say his shadow falls across a number of Syria-related cases, from cheerleaders arrested for proselytizing on Islamic State’s behalf to former associates who surfaced in Syria and Iraq.

Mr. Choudary had long been a mainstay on British airwaves and other media channels. His provocative rhetoric often tested the boundaries of free speech, lawyers said. Although he has said he doesn’t support violence, Mr. Choudary often refused to condemn terrorist attacks by Islamic extremists.

“These men have stayed just within the law for many years, and there has been frustration for both law-enforcement agencies and communities as they spread hate,” said Commander Dean Haydon, the head of the Metropolitan Police’s Counter Terrorism Command. Both men had influenced people to travel to Syria, Cmdr. Haydon said.

Before his September 2014 arrest in this case, police had arrested Mr. Choudary on multiple occasions but never charged him. Save for a solitary fine for a misdemeanor, his record until now was unblemished, said the judge.

Their recent speeches and the oath of allegiance were a turning point for the police,” said Cmdr. Haydon. “At last we had the evidence that they had stepped over the line and we could prove they were actively encouraging support of ISIS,” he said, using an alternative acronym of Islamic State.

Terrorism experts say Mr. Choudary’s influence extended to other parts of Europe, particularly Belgium, where authorities there say he helped Fouad Belkacem set up the notorious Sharia4Belgium organization. Mr. Belkacem was sentenced to 12 years in prison by a Belgian court in 2015.

“Historically, many terrorist plots in the U.K. could be linked back to networks he was involved in, and more recently, groups across Europe that he helped establish were at the core of networks sending Westerners to Syria and Iraq,” said Raffaello Pantucci, director of International Security Studies at the Royal United Services Institute.

“His prominent role as one of the new generation of homegrown radical preachers in Europe placed him at the core of the problem that Europe is facing,” said Mr. Pantucci.

Passing sentence, Judge Holroyde said the men weren’t on trial for any historic acts of wrongdoing. He also acknowledged there was no evidence before the court of anyone directly inspired to act by the pair. But the judge, who said he believed the men had lied to jurors, gave short shrift to the defendants’ argument that their words had been an academic exercise in Islamic theology.
