Please Digg the article here:

This article maybe 4 years behind the times (see below Meacher article) and 650,000 innocent deaths too late, but as the bogus war of terror continues it is welcome......Welcome in the vacuum of propaganda, deceit, distortion, fabrication, inveigling, deception, censorship, endless ball games and mindless fluff.

Not only that but it looks like it's undergoing an Orwellian rebranding.

I wonder how much Saatchi and Saatchi will make out of this Wink:

Echoes of the famous
This war on terrorism is bogus

This war on terror is a joke
This war on terror is a joke
Daily Mail - 03rd January 2010

The great Jewish-American entertainer Tom Lehrer said he gave up writing satirical songs when he realised that nothing he wrote could compete with the reality of U.S. Secretary of State Henry Kissinger being awarded the Nobel Peace Prize after authorising the bombing of neutral Cambodia during the Vietnam War.

I wonder what Lehrer would say about President Barack Obama, who ordered two Cruise missile attacks on targets in Yemen a week before Christmas, allegedly killing 49 civilians, including 17 women and 23 children.

Nobel Peace Prize laureate Barack Obama, right, ordered two Cruise missile attacks on Yemen which allegedly killed 49 civilians. Entertainer Tom Lehrer, left, gave up writing songs after Henry Kissinger was also awarded the prize

But now there's speculation that the attack prompted Al Qaeda to send the 23-year-old suicide bomber they trained, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, on the Detroit-bound jet.

The old Lehrer joke wasn't lost on the Iranians.

An official Tehran news website noted: 'U.S. Nobel Peace Prize laureate President Barack Obama has signed the order for a recent military strike on Yemen in which scores of civilians, including children, have been killed.'

Now Gordon Brown gets in on the act, announcing a global terrorism summit in London on January 28 and £100 million in aid to Yemen to 'combat terrorism'.

Watching Brown bluster on TV yesterday about what he's doing to combat terrorism must have been a dispiriting experience for viewers.

It's so obvious he seizes on this - as he did with the banking crisis - to parade before us as an international statesman.

Do you find yourself beginning to doubt our own propaganda, which says that while we innocently go about our business in the world, international terrorists are bent on destroying our way of life for no other reason than to gain dominion over our Christian culture?

So it's necessary to bring the 'war on terror' to them, even when this so often means killing innocent people?

An American commentator writing on Slate, the internet news organisation, asks: 'When it comes to undermining Al Qaeda, both in Yemen and generally, isn't it painfully obvious that the images of dead Muslim women and children which we constantly create - and which we have again just created in Yemen - will fuel that movement better than anything else we can do?'

He continues: 'Whatever else is true, and even if one believes it's justified to lob Cruise missiles into more countries where we claim suspected Al Qaeda sites are located, one thing seems clear: all of the causes widely recognised as having led to 9/11 - excessive American interference in the Muslim world, our alliance with their most oppressive leaders, our responsibility for Israel's military conflicts with its Muslim neighbours and our own military attacks on Muslims - seem stronger than ever.

'As we take more actions of this sort, we will create more terrorists, which will, in turn, cause us to take more actions of this sort in a never-ending, self-perpetuating cycle.

'The U.S.military, and the intelligence community and its partners in the private contractor world, will certainly remain busy, empowered and well-funded in the extreme.'

Meanwhile, Tory leader David Cameron announces that he'll set up an all-party 'war cabinet' to decide how best to project British power against our enemies.

What folly. In effect, we already have a war cabinet. Labour and the Tories agree that our only choice is to follow American policy, even though it has left Iraq and Afghanistan shattered.

America has now lost almost twice the number killed in 9/11 while bringing death to hundreds of thousands of innocent people in Iraq and Afghanistan.

The U.S.'s private military contractors are authorised to kill and are seemingly immune from prosecution.
They have earned the festering, undying hatred of millions. So have we, as their poodle.

There has to be a more intelligent way of proceeding. Campaigning for the presidency, Barack Obama led millions to believe he'd seek a new approach to the wars started so recklessly by his predecessor, George W. Bush.
But he's becoming more hawkish by the day, under pressure from falling poll ratings and Right-wingers spreading lies about him being 'soft on terror'.
The Al Qaeda attack on New York and Washington in 2001 was a spectacular success, causing the most powerful nation on earth to lose its mind and go on a mad killing spree which ultimately undermined itself and its allies.
As for Tom Lehrer, he's now 81 but his cheerfully cynical songs about his country - recorded 57 years ago, at a cost of only $15 - are still selling briskly on Amazon.

Our society, our way of life is wide open to terrorist attack, their is no way we can protect ourselves from such attacks and have life carry on as normal. Things would simply grind to a halt. It is completely impracticable.

By email - priceless

Gentlemen, I've been meaning to say this for some time, perhaps now is a good time.

I was both naive and privileged enough to spend nine years in the Royal Air Force in the 70's as a lowly airframe technician. In my last year I was 'volunteered' to play the part of an intruder/terrorist attacking a major RAF operational station during a tactical evaluation.

I had a wonderful time! Within an hour of the start of the exercise I had achieved the impossible mission I had been tasked with, briefly I had climbed a remote perimeter fence, crossed the airfield (in between aircraft
doing circuits), avoided various guards including the twelve who were tasked with defending the bombproof GROUND DEFENCE COMMAND CENTRE to which I gained access unopposed as a suicide bomber.

Both ground defence and myself were allowed to resume our duties as if nothing had happened, but they weren't amused.

A while later I walked a ploughed field, climbed another fence and made my way to a building designated as the aircrew rest centre. This time I simply dropped a bomb through a window which had been accidentally left open and informed the RAF Regiment referee and quietly walk away into the night.

Later with the help of a friend and his little Citroen Dianne we lifted a pair of crash gates off their hinges, raced up the perimeter track to the Air Traffic Control compound where I threw a thunderflash over the fence.
Our hasty retreat was aided by a landrover full of guards firing blank rounds, They didn't catch us thank goodness.

The escapade had left me with a primed but unused thunderflash which found its way to a large lorry parked in the main entrance to the camp. I hope no-one was hurt.

These are the main features I remember, there were others, but these a sufficient to make my point.

I am not a terrorist, I had no training in this type of work, although I felt pleased that I had had the opportunity of returning in kind some of the excellent training the RAF had given me in more peaceful and technical matters.

The RAF no doubt benefited from being on the receiving end of my new found skills.

I declined a later offer to do it again, somehow I thought they might be waiting for me!

My point being, this was an active RAF station at full alert expecting nuclear (NBC) and terrorist attacks and being judged by a specialist team for their response.

Despite this I was able without any training or experience to achieve what I have described.

Our society, our way of life is wide open to terrorist attack, their is no way we can protect ourselves from such attacks and have life carry on as normal. Things would simply grind to a halt. It is completely impracticable.

The ludicrous scaremongering is childishly bizarre and yet many people are taken in by it and believe it to be real.

If we had a genuine terrorist threat in this country, life would be very, very different.

So why the lies?

Reminds me of the Dads Army episode where they are asked to test security at a military base and have to get a "bomb" inside. They try various means > thy finally succeed by simply posting it there.
