A German Film About A Man And His Robot Daughter’s Sexual Relationship Triggers Walkouts And Outrage

A sci-fi film is getting a lot of heat over its very controversial relationship between a grown man and a young female robot. Directed by Austrian filmmaker Sandra Wollner, the film premiered at the Berlinale 2020 film fest, and as you can imagine, it has received an enormous amount of backlash, outrage, and disgust.


The Troublesome Plot

In the film, The Trouble with Being Born, a grown man, played by Dominik Warta, gets a child-like android to replace his 10-year old daughter who went missing 10 years ago. The robot looks exactly like a 10-year old little girl because she is in fact played by 10-year old actress Lena Watson. The man calls the robot “Elli” and she calls him “Daddy.” Although the sexual relationship the man has with Elli in the film is implied, there is no doubt that the father is indeed having a sexual relationship with her. In one particularly disturbing scene, Elli is laying naked on the counter as her father removes her vagina and tongue for cleaning.

The Young Actress

The role of Elli was originally supposed to be played by a 20-year-old actress, but after filmmaker Sandra Wollner decided to remove some of the more explicit sex scenes, she decided to change the age of Elli to 10-years old. It seems there were steps taken to protect the young actress Lena because, although there are many nude scenes of Elli in the film, Lena was never actually naked. All nudity was done with CGI. Additionally, the young actress wore a silicone mask and wig to not only hide her identity, but also to help her better understand that this was just a role she was playing for the film.

Does that make the sexual relationship between the father and her any more bearable to watch? Or the relationship any more appropriate to be the subject of a film? Absolutely not. In the film, the father sexually abuses the android robot. It would be disturbing no matter what age the android appeared to be, but the fact of the matter is, she is meant to be a 10-year old little girl, and that absolutely sickens me.

Closing Thoughts

Despite what Wollner may have thought, her film is neither artistic nor thought-provoking. On the contrary, this film is absolute garbage and a disgusting embarrassment to our society as a whole. What in the world was Wollner thinking? The sexual exploitation of children in film, even if they are meant to be an android, is horrific and inappropriate.

The Trouble with Being Born is promoting rape culture, child abuse, and pedophilia. As a mother of a 10-year old daughter myself, I am absolutely repulsed by this film and heartbroken that this is the type of “entertainment” being produced in 2020. Audience members were right to walk out of the Berlin screening, and I for one am boycotting the film.

It has been no secret that the recent wave of “Human Rights” campaigns are increasingly targeting our children. Now, pedophilia “awareness” is awakening in our country, making it next on the docket to potentially becoming a legitimate sexual orientation.

Recent publications and the media are hinting at this very real possibility, and we can help stop it by standing against it.

What Is a Pedophile, Exactly?

Pedophilia is defined as “sexual perversion in which children are the preferred sexual object,” according to the Merriam-Webster Dictionary. Sex crimes against children have been happening for years, yet it has been something that is gaining more attention in the media recently as sex trafficking and pedophilia crimes are popping up more and more.

From a moral standpoint, this is outrageous and horrific for the general public, but from those who claim it is a mere biological tendency to be sexually attracted to children, it could mean another amendment added to the Equality Act, making it recognized as a legitimate sexual orientation.

The Dangers of Accepting Pedophilia As an Orientation

According to psychologist Madeleine Van Brugger, she claims that pedophilia should not be ruled out as a sexual preference and it is “something that we simply cannot change,” per her TedTalk. She endorses the fact that instead of separating those with pedophilic tendencies, we should embrace them and try to understand them.


With all this candor revolving around the increasing lost innocence of our children, it should come as no surprise that “Human Rights” proponents who claim to be serving the rights and desires of all humans, will soon be promoting the awareness of pedophilia as a legitimate sexual orientation due to the Equality Act which was just passed in 2019.


How the Equality Act Could Pose a Risk to Our Children

The Equality Act prohibits the discrimination of an individual’s sexual preference in a wide variety of general public settings, including education and after-school programs such as sports activities. This means that if politicians push for the acceptance of pedophilia as a real sexual orientation, these individuals would be free to work with our children in different settings. After-school programs and Little League could become huge targets for pedophiles to become employed at and ultimately seek their victims.

Discriminating against individuals who identify as pedophiles would be eventually called “intolerance” and labeled as narrow-mindedness if we chose not to accept it as a sexual orientation.

Drawing the Line


This raises the question of what is right or wrong anymore? Does the definition of perversion change because we’ve simply become so politically correct and don't wish to “offend” anyone? Do personal responsibility and accountability mean anything, or have we resorted to calling human life no more than a highly-evolved pool of hormones, prone to succumb to our sexual urges whenever we “feel” like it? We are not only catering to the perversion, but we are ultimately choosing the path where our society will go.

Does the definition of perversion change because we’ve simply become so politically correct and do not wish to offend anyone?
While being a pedophile, serial killer, or thief are all things we wish we could control, or understand, these are simply wrong behaviors. The line becomes increasingly blurred when we go from shock to tolerance. If the mass shootings, molestation cases, and armed robberies were simple evolutionary by-products, wouldn’t that make our human species less likely to survive? If the after-effects of these horrible events induce psychological trauma and social isolation, perhaps this “genetic disposition” is much more than that. Perhaps it is a moral problem and needs to be addressed as such.

Closing Thoughts

A greater necessity arises to protect our children (and our future) and stop making excuses for wrong behavior, or labeling it as simply “tolerance” or “genetic disposition.” Pedophilia does not serve the perpetrator, nor the innocent children in terms of forward-thinking.


We may wish to know all the answers or solutions, but there is a criminal justice system for a reason—to punish wrong behavior and to protect the innocent. Just like those who rallied to pass the Equality Act in Congress, we must raise up a voice that is opposed to anything that would threaten our children and, ultimately, our future.

Atheist writer and intellectual Richard Dawkins has sparked fury by suggesting the recent spate of child sex abuse scandals has been overblown.

The 'God Delusion' author, who reveals in his new autobiography how he was the victim of 'mild paedophilia' while a pupil at boarding school, said that such incidents should not be judged by modern standards.

In an interview published in the Times Magazine, he said: 'I am very conscious that you can't condemn people of an earlier era by the standards of ours.

'Just as we don't look back at the 18th and 19th centuries and condemn people for racism in the same way as we would condemn a modern person for racism, I look back a few decades to my childhood and see things like caning, like mild paedophilia, and can't find it in me to condemn it by the same standards as I or anyone would today.'

Dawkins, 72, who is known for his strong religious criticism, said it was important to distinguish between varying levels of paedophilia, and that cases involving rape and murder should not be compared to 'mild touching up'.

In a new autobiography Professor Dawkins told how a master at his Salisbury prep school had pulled him on to his knee and put his hand inside his shorts', adding that other boys had been molested by the same teacher.

While he said that he had found the episode 'extremely disagreeable' he wrote: 'I don't think he did any of us any lasting damage.'

However his comments have provoked an angry reaction from child protection groups.

The NSPCC’s Peter Watt told The Times: 'Mr Dawkins seems to think that because a crime was committed a long time ago we should judge it in a different way.

'But we know that the victims of sexual abuse suffer the same effects, whether it was 50 years ago or yesterday.'

Last month Professor Dawkins has provoked anger by pointing ou that a single college at Cambridge University had won more Nobel Prizes than all the world’s Muslims.
