The issue of “anti-Semitism” -- a catch-all term that’s increasingly being wielded to discourage many forms of dissention in our society — has now taken on an ominous new dimension: The U.S. State Department will enact it into a sweeping (and incredibly subjective) law on Monday.

Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice on Wednesday named Gregg Rickman as the first “special envoy for monitoring and combating anti-Semitism” AROUND THE WORLD - my emphasis

Rickman, who will be sworn in Monday, will not simply monitor anti-Semitism; he will inject the issue into every bilateral or multilateral arrangement where it’s applicable. Rickman declined to talk to reporters before his position became official.

Rickman’s assignment will be twofold: dealing with official anti-Semitism and encouraging nations to combat anti-Semitism in their societies.

A State Department spokesman said, “This post empowers foreign policy and diplomacy, and can have a tremendous impact on combating anti-Semitism.”



What would determine whether or not you are an “anti-Semite”?

For instance, you could be arrested for anti-Semitism if (this isn’t funny)...

...You believe that men with names such as Wolfowitz, Pearle, Ledeen, Abrams, Feith, and Libby who held high positions of influence in the Bush administration (as well as hold Israeli passports) counseled the President into going to war in the Middle East and that they lied about Iraq’s weapons of Mass Destruction and that they did all of this for the furtherance of fighting Israel’s enemies...

...You think that the Lear jet given to Christian Zionist preacher Jerry Falwell by the state of Israel was a payback for all the hard work he has done, and that the million-dollar salaries that his cohorts receive—Pat Robertson, John Hagee and Tim LaHaye —are all part of that big payoff as well...

Since Arabs are also Semites then if you are Pro Palestinian you cannot therefore be "anti-Semitic". There are many Jews who detest the state of Israel and Zionism and are themselves thus "anti-Semitic". It is a catch-all term to try to tarnish anyone who criticises Zionism/Israel as being a hater of Jews, who is therefore a "holocaust-denier" etc etc. The term is ridiculous.
