i think most computers will soon have an Al Qaeda short cut key. Funny no mention of Iran in the article.

Quote:
Bomb Slaughters Egyptian Churchgoers

At least 21 people have been killed in Egypt by a suspected suicide bomber who targeted Christians as they emerged from a church following a service to mark the New Year.

Police initially said the blast was caused by a car packed with explosives which was parked outside the Saints Church in the northern city of Alexandria.

But the interior ministry later said the explosion was more likely to be by a suicide bomber on foot and there were indications of "foreign elements".

Following the atrocity, the Pope demanded protection for Christians as he urged world leaders to defend them against abuse and intolerance.

The governor of Alexandria, Adel Labib, accused al Qaeda of planning the bombing, state television reported.

If the terror network had a direct role, it could be a worrying development in Egypt, where the government has persistently denied the group has a significant presence on the ground.

Egypt is mostly Muslim, and Christians make up about 10% of the population of 79 million people.

The interior ministry said the blast happened just after midnight in front of the church after a Mass to see in the New Year.

It claimed the blast damaged a mosque near the church and eight Muslims were among the wounded.

A total of 43 people were hurt in the bombing, which led to hundreds of Christians taking to the streets in protest.

A witness said some Christians and Muslims threw stones at each other, and cars were set on fire.

Police used tear gas to disperse the protest and dozens of officers surrounded the area to prevent a repeat of the unrest.

An al Qaeda-linked group, the Islamic State of Iraq, issued a threat against the Church in Egypt in November.

It was over its treatment of women which the group said the Church was holding after they had converted to Islam.

Since the threat, the country has stepped up security around churches, banning cars from parking directly outside them.

The Islamic State of Iraq had claimed an attack on a church in Baghdad in November.

Following the Alexandria attack, a witness said: "This is a scene from Baghdad."

Looks like MI6 may have even suggested these chaps go to prosecute

Prosecution investigates Interior Minister's alleged involvement in church attack
http://www.thedailynewsegypt.com/crime-a-accidents/prosecution-investi gates-interior-min-alleged-involvement-in-church-attack.html
By Essam Fadl /Special to Daily News Egypt February 8, 2011, 12:10 am
The High State Security Prosecution office will investigate on Tuesday the alleged involvement of former Minister of Interior in the Alexandria Church attack on New Year’s, a source at the General Prosecutor’s office said.
The source didn’t want to be named because he wasn’t authorized to speak to the media.
Coptic lawyer Mamdouh Ramzy had filed on Monday a complaint to General Prosecutor Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud accusing former minister Habib El-Adly of organizing “militias of security personnel, former inmates and members of extremists organizations” that were responsible for bombing of the Church of Two Saints in Alexandria.
The attack that took place in the first hours of the new year killed 24 and left over 90 injured.
Ramzy told Daily News Egypt that he was summoned for questioning on Tuesday at the High State Security Prosecution after the General Prosecutor referred his complaint for investigation.
Ramzy said he based his complaint on press reports that quoted leaked British intelligence documents allegedly describing Al-Adly “militias”. According to Ramzy, the documents said these militias would wreack havoc in the country if the regime is threatened.

Egyptian bomb drops - Interior Minister threw it!

A story is developing that will bring a decisive end to the old regime in Egypt, and leave decades of Middle Eastern policy in flames.
The cynicism and the horror will blow you away. Sadly, it did in fact blow 26 innocents away.
Some backstory is necessary. Most of you know that these protests began two weeks ago, with the march of Tuesday, Jan. 25th, and then the Day of Rage on Friday, Jan. 28th.
But many will not remember the first upswelling of the Egyptian populace - provoked by an awful thing - the bombing on New Year's Day of the Coptic Church (Coptic just means Egyptian, and this is an ancient denomination of Christians in Egypt.) The reaction to the bombing shocked many people, both in the Mubarak regime and in the west.
ne plus ultra's diary :: ::
Egyptians didn't take this attack in the way Mubarak expected - as sullen victims. Nor in the way many westerners thought they would - excited in their sectarian hatred.
Instead, they rose up. Groups of Muslims independent of the government called for a national unity day on Coptic Christmas - Jan. 7th. Muslim men and women in their hundreds of thousands attended Christian mass to protect the worshippers on the holy day.
For many, this was the first time they had taken a public, civic action. They looked around themselves and saw "I'm not alone."
I'm not alone as a decent person in Egypt. I'm not alone as a Muslim who wants my Christian (or Jewish or secular) neighbors to live undisturbed. I'm not alone as someone who wants more for my country than the hatred and fear that the Mubarak/Suleiman regime brought us.
Without Jan. 7th, Jan. 25th does not happen. People needed that sense of validation. That sense that "it's not just me. There are many others like me, and together, we can end this."
The Mubarak/Suleiman regime did have a sense of what was coming, and they tried to defuse the crisis and the anger, announcing on Jan. 23rd that they had found the culprits - the favored boogie-man of the regime "Gaza extremists."
Minister Accuses Gaza Militants
Ah yes, the regime could pose as defender of its Coptic minority, as protector of Israel, and as promoter of unity in the seething cauldron of evil terrorist groups - the picture they liked to paint of the Middle East.
A day later, they realized they'd left something out - we also need to show our American sponsors we're helping them. So the new release of information went a little further:
Al Qaeda Attacks Coptic Church
The attacks on Coptic churches had been ongoing, and the Alexandria bombing was only the latest. Then came the democracy uprising of Tahrir. The back and forth, the violence, the drama, the fear, the uprush of emotions.
Only yesterday, Sunday, was there a day of calm, when people could take stock. Some began to think back and wonder - what happened with that string of attacks on churches. How come it stopped. And some thought, strange, the coincidence, it stopped just when the secret police started to have other, larger things to worry about!
Today, in the final horror that will also be the final chapter for the Mubarak/Suleiman regime, and also for the secret police/security state that we've sponsored, the General Prosecutor's office announced it is probing the involvement of Interior Minister el-Adly. Prisoners who escaped during the chaos fled directly to the British embassy and poured out the details of el-Adly's plot. The right hand man of Suleiman and Mubarak was the author of this horrible crime, this attempt to set Muslims and Christians against each other and blame it on Palestinians, so the regime could pose as defender of all that is good and just.
Here it is in al Arabiya. Read and weep for the crimes we bought and paid for with our military aid to this awful, cynical, inhuman regime.
http://www.alarabiya.net/...
(and now the investigation is confirmed in the Daily News of Egypt)
I'd like to ask you to call President Obama at 202 456-1111, and ask him to cut off the Mubarak/Suleiman regime, and stand up for the spirit of Tahrir, of Muslims and Christians coming together to support one another in peace.

New Year's Eve Church Bombing in Egypt a False Flag?
http://weeklyintercept.blogspot.com/2011/02/new-years-eve-church-bombi ng-in-egypt.html
Had it not been for the remarkable uprising in Egypt this last week and a half, the church bombing that killed 24 in Alexandria last New Year's Eve would easily serve as justification to fear Muslim extremists in the region. Instead, we have learned now that Habib el-Adly, former interior minister of Egypt, is a suspected mastermind in the deadly church attack with the intent to blame it on Islamists, escalate the Egyptian government's crackdown on them, and gain increased western support for the Egyptian regime.
The two patsies, Jundullah leader Mohammed Abdelhadi, and frequent prisoner and Muslim Brotherhood supporter Mohamed Khaled, were apparently set up to meet after the explosion by interior ministry officer Major Fathi Abdelwahid to evaluate the success of the attack. During their meeting, Major Fathi Abdelwahid and his security forces promptly arrested the patsies. This neat operation with the "suspects" in custody was suddenly upended when mass uprisings lead to the prison break. The two patsies fled to the British embassy in Cairo and reported that the plot was developed by Interior Minister Habib el-Adly.
Apparently, under el-Adly's orders, Major Fathi Abdelwahid recruited the Jundullah leader and the Muslim Brotherhood supporter to wire a car with explosives, hire a driver (Abdelrahman Ahmed Ali) to bring the explosives to the church, then detonate the bomb. The two escapees claim Major Fathi Abdelwahid detonated the bomb before driver Ahmed Ali could escape.
After this information hit the English embassy and various news outlets, Egypt's general prosecutor opened a probe on former Interior Minister Habib el-Adly's role in the bombing via proclamation 1450, which refers to British intelligence documents and points to the news reports sourcing a UK diplomat. This diplomat explained the reasons why Britain has insisted on the immediate departure of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak and his regime, especially his interior ministry's security apparatus previously directed by el-Adly.

If the accusations are true, what do these developments mean?

1. Hosni Mubarak is a likely accomplice to this activity, because Habib el-Adly worked directly under Mubarak up until he was replaced on January 31, 2011 (the night of the explosion), as part of a cabinet reshuffle aimed at appeasing the 2011 Egyptian protests.

2. The U.S. must be aware of this development and were likely informed by English authorities once the patsies reached the embassy. England's strong stance against Mubarak must have weighed heavily with the U.S. leaders and this false flag attack had to be part of the conversation.

3. It is highly probable that Omar Suleiman was aware of these operations. Egypt's exterior security apparatus, the Egyptian General Intelligence Service, was run by Omar Suleiman since 1993 until his appointment as Vice President of Egypt two days before the explosion.

4. The operation suggests an ongoing campaign designed to foster fear of the Muslim Brotherhood within Egypt and throughout the world. If the government of Egypt has to kill its own citizens to convince the rest of the world to fear Muslims, that fear is likely exaggerated. This is consistent with reactions from Coptes in the area who do not seem to have bought the idea that the Muslim community has suddenly become hostile and dangerous. Apparently, the attack in Alexandria was not successful in achieving it's goal of creating fear of Islam extremists within Egypt.

5. This attack on a Christian church was described by Hosni Mubarak as an attack by unnamed foreign elements. It was meant as a suggestion that Al Qaeda or Hamas was somehow involved. Despite the absence of any cell affiliated to the label of Bin Laden, the minister presented the Gaza Strip as a true seedbed of terrorists more or less dependent on Hamas and Al-Qaida. This attack had the requisite ancillary elements meant to justify the siege against Gaza.

So far, U.S. news has remained silent over this story, but the official site for the Muslim Brotherhood has printed the story, Hamas has issued a press release in response to this story, various Arabic papers have printed their versions of the story and Ramzi Mamdouh, the prosecutor who issued proclamation 1450, has spoken with Al Jazeera.
Should the allegations be true, it would mean that the U.S. is throwing its endorsement behind a government that kills its own citizens in order to justify hatred of Islamists and escalate the Egyptian government's crackdown on its citizens.

Egypt's Operation Gladio!

British diplomats believe Egyptian Interior Minister Habib el-Adly had a whole department dedicated to these sorts of operations....!
http://reason.com/blog/2011/02/14/was-the-mubarak-complicit-in-e

....According the UK diplomatic sources quoted in the reports, the former interior minister had built up in over six years a special security system that was managed by 22 officers and that employed a number of former radical Islamists, drug dealers and some security firms to carry out acts of sabotage around the country in case the regime was under threat to collapse....

....Eyewitnesses confirmed that security forces guarding the church withdrew nearly one hour before the blast, leaving only four policemen and an officer to guard such a big church and nearly 2000 people attending the midnight mass. "Normally they would have waited until the mass was over," said [Copts4Egypt's Hany] el-Gezeiry....

Update X2: Egyptian Interior Minister Accused by British Intelligence in Church Bombing

by - rblinne

Throughout the Egyptian crisis Christians were told that we need to support Mubarak because Islamists would kill our brothers and sisters in Egypt. With the New Year's Day bombing of the al-Qiddissin (Saints) Church in Alexandria such fears would seem to be reasonable.

In a rare televised address, Mr Mubarak said it bore the hallmark of "foreign hands" seeking to destabilise Egypt.

But the Egyptian Christians didn't seem to buy into this, even protecting Muslim protestors during prayers.

Update: British Intelligence is citing this as reason Mubarak should go.

Then Jan25 Voices had the following tweet this morning.

AJZ Ticker: Egy AG refers fmr MoI Al Habib Al Adly to court: accused of involvement in #Qiddissin Church bombing

Habib Al Adly is the former interior minister of Egypt and was accused of deliberately releasing prisoners in order to show "chaos" in Egypt.

British Intelligence is citing this as the reason Mubarak must go:

A British diplomat revealed before the Chambers of the French Palace, Elysee, the reason for the insistence of England to demand the departure of the Egyptian President and his team, especially the Ministry of Interior, which was administered by the Minister Habib Al-Adli, the reason is that British intelligence confirmed, from audio and paper Egyptian official documents , that the sacked Egyptian Interior Minister Habib Al-Adli had formed six years ago, a special body run by 22 officers, and consists of some members of Islamic groups, which spent years in the prisons of the Interior ministry, number of drug dealers, teams of security companies, and number of registered risk of ex-offenders, who were divided into groups according to geographical regions and political affiliation, this body is able to be a comprehensive sabotage all over Egypt in case the regime is subjected to any threat.

The British intelligence also revealed that Major Fathi Abdel Wahed, who is close to the former Minister Habib Al-Adli, started on 11 December to prepare "Ahmed Mohamed Khaled" (who spent eleven years in the prisons of the Egyptian Interior Ministry) for the connect to a radical Egyptian group, as to push it to hit Saints Church in Alexandria. Ahmed al-Khalid succeeded in making contacts to a radical movement in Egypt, its name (Jundullah), and told her that he has equipment which he got from Gaza, that could explode the Church in order to "discipline the Copts". Muhammad Abd al-Hadi (leader of Jundullah) liked the idea, and recruited an element named Abdul Rahman Ahmed Ali. Abdul Rahman was told that he will park the car, which will explode on its own later, but Major Fathi Abdul Wahid himself was the one who exploded the car remotely, by wireless device, and before Abdel-Rahman Ahmed Ali the victim could step out of the car.

Thus happened the horrific crime that shook Egypt and the world last year’s new Eve.

Update: Starting to get picked up by Egyptian Media:

Things are starting to get picked up by mainstream Egyptian media:

Prosecution investigates Interior Minister's alleged involvement in church attack

The High State Security Prosecution office will investigate on Tuesday the alleged involvement of former Minister of Interior in the Alexandria Church attack on New Year’s, a source at the General Prosecutor’s office said.

The source didn’t want to be named because he wasn’t authorized to speak to the media.

Coptic lawyer Mamdouh Ramzy had filed on Monday a complaint to General Prosecutor Abdel-Meguid Mahmoud accusing former minister Habib El-Adly of organizing "militias of security personnel, former inmates and members of extremists organizations" that were responsible for bombing of the Church of Two Saints in Alexandria.

The attack that took place in the first hours of the new year killed 24 and left over 90 injured.

Ramzy told Daily News Egypt that he was summoned for questioning on Tuesday at the High State Security Prosecution after the General Prosecutor referred his complaint for investigation.

Ramzy said he based his complaint on press reports that quoted leaked British intelligence documents allegedly describing Al-Adly "militias". According to Ramzy, the documents said these militias would wreack havoc in the country if the regime is threatened.

28th.
But many will not remember the first upswelling of the Egyptian populace - provoked by an awful thing - the bombing on New Year's Day of the Coptic Church (Coptic just means Egyptian, and this is an ancient denomination of Christians in Egypt.) The reaction to the bombing shocked many people, both in the Mubarak regime and in the west.
ne plus ultra's diary :: ::
