Here we go. Just as anticipated in the continuing build up to the Iran affair, Bin Laden makes a timely statement.
It amazes me just how stupid the secret services are. Don't they know we know it's a crock of s**t!

Plenty people continue to believe them despite the WMDs, the yellow cake uranium from Niger, Colin Powell's moveable Iraqi bioweapons labs, Blair's assurance that no decision to go to war had been taken when he had long since promised Bush that he would, the medical evidence that you can't kill yourself in the way that Dr David Kelly allegedly did etc.
Or is it getting the way it did in the latter days of the USSR when few actually believed the authorities and yet felt obliged to say they did for reasons of career, safety, family etc?

It's a bit like that, Noel, but it's rather about seeing through the game, isn't it. Everyday there's at least a dozen stories coming out that are in some way a 'crock of *', but I'm sure there are people there who have got to believe that the bin Laden tape is genuine, it's not just their secure comfortable lives they're protecting
It's their emotional well-being. To believe other than what they believe is staring at an abyss
Alternatively of course, their Berlin Wall is going to fall, which would be a good thing if that hadn't already been planned for |
