Ok - I have an idea

There are lots of you who just love to voice your opinion (don't we all)

We start a brand new (mostly internet based) weekly newspaper

"THE TRUTH ON SUNDAY"

1. Sort out the legalities of having a newspaper

2. Get some volunteers to write the articles (unpaid to start with)

3. Get an editor

4. Market it

5. For the first issue - print hard copies (say 10,000) and give away

6. Readership can be gauged by the number of hits - if we do well we can generate some advertising revenue and then we can grow

Your thoughts? anyone fancy being an editor or a columnist?

I'm surprise we haven't got a bimonthly magazine in the vein of Lobster, we need to take this info from the net to the streets and there are countless writers on here and articles posted which could easily fill 50 pages. I bet Lobster don't cost much to produce, it's an okay mag but only deals with stuff that is years old and Ramsey hasn't touched 7/7 in the last two issues which have appeared since the London bombings.

There is no such thing as a free press, if you cannot publish pictures of Allah because of Moslem traditionalists. Personally, I fail to see how ink on paper is harmful to anyone - it's the brain of the perceiver that's at fault!

This is definitely a good idea - someone proposed a similar thing to me about a year ago, but we just never took it forward due to time and lack of funds.

But maybe now the time is right - and something like this really is needed.

It's something many of us could do "off our own back", because there could well be time wasted about which articles go in or not. So I would favour groups of 2 - 5 people getting together and doing their own thing.

You can get 3000 b/w copies done for about £30 - that's may £6 each for a group of 5 people. Or, if someone can print them at their workplace.......

Hey Andrew, when you mention 1p a copy, are you talking about one of the big copy companies like Kinkos? And is that if you supply your own paper?...actually, never mind; I'll call Kinkos now and get a quote and report back.

Will it be a 'real' newspaper or a hologram? Or shall we just put one out and cross examine each other about what it is when it hits the streets?

I think it's a good idea. The cost needs to be worked out. Handing out a low cost, free Truth Sheet would certainly help.

Pooling finances needs to be resolved.
