In all these years I've seen that many people don't consider even the possibility of a conspiracy, refusing, de facto, to look into the naked facts, using this simple argument:

A conspiracy is not possibile since too many people should be involved. It's not possibile to silence all of them and certainly somebody, having changed his mind, would have come out as a whistleblower revealing the conspiracy. Thus, no conspiracy.

I want to tell you a story that I often use to counter this argument.
It's about Italy (my country) and it's about sport (soccer)... and it's about a net of people who controlled the italian soccer championship in the past years... Here in Italy it was called “Moggiopoli” (Luciano Moggi is the name of the person accused of being the “Puppetmaster”).

[i]For a long long time an Italian soccer team has been accused of winning fraudolently the national championship. The referees made a lot of mistakes: non existent penalties, players disqualified and so on.... favouring that team (Juventus football club) or damaging the other teams.

The other teams' supporters claimed, louder every day, that the team manager (Luciano Moggi since 1996) was “buying favours”and “bribing referees”...

Someone even built a dossier with a list of all the mistakes (1997/1998), hoping that someone would have taken him seriously and would have started an investigation. Nobody listened to him (Agroppi) and he disappeared from the main soccer and tv programs.

The main refutation to that claims was.... (guess what?)

***
(yes) This soccer conspiracy can't be true because to many people have to be involved. Managers, players, referee, league managers, even sport journalists...

Why don't any manager report that to federal authorities?
Why don't any referee come out and say that he had been bribed?
Why don't any player, especially the ones who played for Juventus and then moved to another team, come out and report this fraud?
Why don't the federal authorities investigate the matter?
Why don't any sport journalist investigate this possibility? Many of them have weekly sport shows in which they look for sospicious decisions made by the referee and watch them in the “instant replay” and them made public polls... (for instance the Monday show of Aldo Biscardi)

The answer is that Nobody talks since there's no conspiracy... Simple.
There was even the explanation of why the referees favour Juventus. They called it, in italian, “Sudditanza arbitrale”. It means that a referee is inclined to favour a team if that team is stronger. So being favoured by the referees is a sign of strength not of fraud! That was the argument!

***

But last spring everything changed.... Finally some investigator decided to listen to their phone calls (just like the NSA is doing Smile) and they listened to very interesting conversations!

They found that the Manager of the Juventus football team (Moggi) was in daily phone contact with the Federal Authority who had to choose (randomly) the referee for the weekly matches (Pairetto).

But the choice was not random! No! Instead Moggi asked every week for the referee he desired, or the one he had recently bribed, and so on.

Some conspiracy theorist in the past years had speculated that the Fiat motor company (who owns Alfa, Lancia, Ferrari, Maserati... and Juventus) sent expensive sport cars to the referee as a gift to bribe them..... Obviously they were ignored......

They were right.

In a phone call Pairetto asked Moggi a Maserati car for one of his protegees ....

...Moggi called Fiat and managed to get one for him...

- Why don't any manager report to federal Authorities?

They were in. The “Soccer scandal”involved many many teams... Some to win the championship, other to get the first places (being able to Uefa champions league or Uefa cup), other just to remain in the Major League (Serie A)

- Why don't any referee come out and say that he had been bribed?

They were threatened. One of them (Paparesta) was even locked in his changing room after the match... Smile .. because he made mistakes.. damaging Juventus

- Why don't any player report the fraud?

Many of the italian soccer players are controlled by the same manager. Some of these managers joined in a company (GEA) who was controlled by Alessandro Moggi, Luciano's son. Smile

- Why don't the federal authorities investigate the matter?

Because they were involved! Of course! Pairetto, Carraro and so on..

- Why don't any sport journalist investigate this possibility?

Remember Biscardi, the one I cited who held a tv show every monday? In that show many decisions of the referee were watched in “instant replay” and judged (mistake/good decision) by the guests and by public polls.

Before the show L.Moggi always called Biscardi in order to decide which decision show, how to judge it, how to fix the poll, and so on...

So when anybody tells you that a conspiracy is impossibile because too many people should ben involved.. .etc. etc. etc.

Tell him that conspiracies happen, people get silenced, other get involved and many more fix the reality to fit the official story, maybe inventing some new word in the process....
