|
|
Kevin has sent us this:
My own opinion is that, if it is true that a US fleet is gathering off Iran just before mid term elections which the Republicans are likely to lose "absent some catastrophic catalysing event", given their track record the neocons are quite likely to try some kind of false-flag operation against their navy in order to hang on to power. An attack on the US fleet off Iran would have the expected effect of rallying the US public around its beleaguered government, and allowing a strike, possibly "nookiller" as Bush pronounces it, against Iran.
I believe we should flag this up worldwide as a dangerous possibility, not as a certainty. The very knowledge that this may be being planned, might be enough to prevent it from happening.

AN ATTACK ON IRAN IS NEAR !
FOURTH STRIKE GROUP JOINS 3 OTHER ARMADAS OFF IRAN. GET YOUR WAR ON!
"We have been through spring practice, now the game is on." - Capt. David Angood, Composite Warfare Commander (CWC) for USS Boxer (LHD 4) Expeditionary Strike Group.
This is it folks. As I have warned, history changes on October 31st. It is now apparent that Bush does intend to have our ships sunk in the Gulf by Iran in a last-ditch effort to save himself and the GOP with a short bounce in the polls caused by a New Pearl Harbor. The USS Boxer Strike Group has now joined the Iwo Jima Expeditionary Strike Group and the Eisenhower and Enterprise Carrier Groups off the coast of Iran.
This will create a new neo-con reality as the last week before the election will only be news of World War III.
WARFARE COMMANDERS: ENSURING STRIKE GROUP SUCCESS
ESG 5 is comprised of Boxer, Bunker Hill, USS Dubuque (LPD , USS Comstock (LSD 45), USS Benfold (DDG 65), and USS Howard (DDG 83). ESG 5 also includes PHIBRON 5, the 15th MEU, Coast Guard Cutter Midgett (WHEC 726) and Canadian Frigate HMCS Ottawa (FFH 341).
The strike group's warfare command is comprised of PHIBRON 5 as Mine Warfare Commander, Maritime Interdiction Commander, Maritime Strike Operations Commander and Amphibious Warfare Commander. The warfare command also includes Howard as Air Defense Commander, Boxer as Information Warfare Commander, Bunker Hill as Sea Combat Commander and the Commanding Officer of the 15th MEU.
The strike group is currently conducting operations in support of the global 'war on terrorism' while transiting to the Persian Gulf. - Url.: http://www.emilitary.org/article.php?aid=8125
THEY HAVE BEEN MASSING AIR POWER AND BUILT NEW AIR BASES ALL AROUND IRAQ:
Despite the misgivings of the military professionals, Joseph Cirincione wrote in the March issue of Foreign Policy that conversations with senior officials in the Pentagon and the White House had convinced him that the decision for war had already been made.
The Washington Post has reported that at least since March, large teams have been working on invasion plans in the Pentagon and the intelligence agencies, while the Iran "desk" at the State Department has been augmented to task force size. It reports to Elizabeth Cheney, daughter of the vice president, who is assistant secretary of state for the Near East.
In the Pentagon, a similar organization has been established under Neoconservative Abram Shulsky. In addition a new outpost has been set up in Dubai to coordinate plans. On October 2, a powerful naval battle group around the giant aircraft carrier Eisenhower sailed for the Persian Gulf and is due to arrive a week before the November Congressional elections to join a similar battle group led by the aircraft carrier Enterprise. Meanwhile aircraft of the U.S. Air Force are being readied in bases surrounding Iran and in distant locations. These forces could deliver destructive power that would dwarf the aerial assaults on Iraq.
DON'T FORGET HOW MUCH GATHERING AN ARMADA LIKE THIS COSTS. THEY ARE NOT FOOLING AROUND WITH EXERCISES ANYMORE.
THIS IS NOT GOING TO BE A DRILL.
The DailyKOS author points out that stocking up on potassium iodide* is a good idea for the inevitable nuclear retaliation to the planned Bushco nuking of the Natanz research facility. The author also notes that World War III would knock any vote-stealing and the election itself off the airwaves...
Please CIRCULATE! This may be your last chance to try and stop this by getting the word out BEFORE it happens.
Once the shooting starts, it will be too late.

HR: CONCERNING STOCKING UP ON POTASSIUM IODIDE: depending on the sort, you've got to swallow it before the emergency. Secondly: last time - Chernobyl 1986 - the girls in my Stockholm pharmacy told me to watch the expiration date. Since it was in the days after the reactor disaster and only meant to calm down the sheeple, they had had been ordered to tape over the expiration dates which showed the iodide to be much too old to be effective in any way...

I also believe an attack will be soon. I earlier posted on another thread about it possibly involving the USS Eisenhower. I made a mistake - I should have put the USS Enterprise, which is due for de commission in 2014-2015.
Very interesting having an article today about the nuclear threat from Iran - it is surficing in the news again. I also find it odd two days ago they tried to spin us with more propoganda about Iran's involvment with a bomb in Argentina over 20 years ago.
Plus Bush is coming under increasing pressure to leave Iraq, unless of course all this militry build up in the Persian Gulf is to take the troops home - which I doubt. |

Missiles fired in Iran exercise
The Shahab-3 is thought capable of striking Israel
Iran's military has fired dozens of missiles during a military exercise in
central Iran, state-run TV reported.
The missiles included the Shahab-3, which has a 2,000km (1,240 mile) range, and the Shahab-2, which can carry cluster bombs, the report said.
The missile tests come at the start of 10 days of military manoeuvres
planned across the country.
On Wednesday, the head of Iran's Revolutionary Guard, General Yahya Rahim Safavi, said the exercises, named "Great Prophet", would take place in the Gulf, the Gulf of Oman and several provinces of the country.
Gen Safavi said the exercises would be a show of defensive capability.
One report said the missiles fired on Thursday were launched from the desert near the clerical centre of Qom, 120km (75 miles) south of Tehran.
The military manoeuvres come as the UN Security Council is considering
putting sanctions on Iran in response to its refusal to stop enriching
uranium.
Western countries fear Iran is trying to develop a nuclear bomb, but Iran
maintains its nuclear programme is for entirely civilian purposes. _________________ Only sheep need a leader. |

Giant US warship sails into Gulf
By eunice del rosario
ONE of the world's largest warships, the USS Dwight D Eisenhower, yesterday entered the Gulf to conduct missions in direct support of troops participating in Operation Iraqi Freedom (OIF) and Maritime Security Operations (MSO).
The Nimitz-class aircraft carrier, flagship of the Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group, entered the region accompanied by the guided-missile cruiser USS Anzio, according to the Bahrain-based US Fifth Fleet.
Eisenhower, named after the 34th US president and embarked Carrier Air Wing (CVW) 7 are to conduct missions in support of OIF and MSO.
CVW-7 began flying missions into Afghanistan last month in support of coalition troops on the ground in Operation Enduring Freedom.
During 33 days of operations, the air wing flew more than 4,000 hours and more than 680 sorties, providing close air support and reconnaissance to International Security Assistance Force troops.
"We are grateful for the opportunity to serve and make a difference, whether it is flying in support of multinational troops operating in Iraq, or training alongside coalition and regional navies, or conducting maritime security operations in the Gulf," said Eisenhower Strike Group and Combined Task Force 152 Commander Rear Admiral Al Myers.
The strike group departed Norfolk, Virginia, US on October 3 and began operating alongside coalition maritime forces in the Fifth Fleet on October 30.
This is the aircraft carrier's first deployment since 2000.
The 244ft (equivalent to a 24-storey building) tall Eisenhower displaces 95,000 tonnes fully loaded and has a 1,092ft x 252ft (4.5-acre) flight deck to support as many as 100 embarked aircraft.
Its two nuclear reactors can provide energy for more than 18 years of operation without refuelling and can furnish power to propel the ship in excess of 30 knots.
The Fifth Fleet is responsible for an area encompassing about 2.5 million square miles of water including the Arabian Gulf, Arabian Sea, Red Sea, Gulf of Aden, Gulf of Oman and parts of the Indian Ocean.

U.S. Navy in Persian Gulf reinforced
MANAMA, Bahrain, Nov. 15 (UPI) -- The Combined Task Force 152 operating out of Bahrain in the Persian Gulf in support of maritime security operations has received an additional asset.
The Navy Newsstand reported on Nov. 13 that the guided missile destroyer USS Mason, part of the Eisenhower Strike Group, joined Combined Task Force 152 earlier in the month.
Combined Task Force 152 consists of coalition forces currently led by Italian Navy Rear Adm. Emilio Foltzer. The task force is currently conducting maritime security operations in the central and southern Persian Gulf under international maritime conventions to ensure security and safety in Persian Gulf international waters to all merchantmen in the region.
The USS Mason Cmdr. John V. Fuller said, "I am particularly proud of the job Mason Sailors are doing every day as part of the Eisenhower Strike Group to promote maritime security and to build stronger friendships with other nations who want to protect the ocean highway."
USS Mason brings a ship-boarding team capability to the effort and trained prior to deployment with special training ships to practice boarding during its Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea transit, practicing boarding operations with teams from the guided-missile destroyer USS Ramage and guided missile cruiser USS Anzio.

Iran's euro-denominated oil bourse to open in March: US Dollar Crisis on the Horizon
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=CLA200 60210&articleId=1937
They will move before March, just a question of what excuse they use, how much force they use and whether Israel, the US, or both will do the dirty work. From past experience they won't just take out the enrichment facilities, it'll be the entire airforce and C&C structure... making it easier to finish the job next time. _________________ Make love, not money. |

Thermate, that article reffered to last March. The Iranian plans to open the oil bourse were cancelled and have been put on hold. Whether this was appeasement and if so will it make any difference is questionable, the objective appears to be regime change and chaos.
The dollar is in so much trouble it seems, paradoxically, to be in mosts short term interests to prop it up, its collapse would/will bring on global systemic collapse. Perhaps the Iranians are playing along - for now at least.
Iran is already taking Euros for oil and has moved its reserves out of the dollar.
Iran dollar reserves 'trimmed'
Friday 15 December 2006
TEHRAN: Iran, facing political pressure from Washington, has been shifting its reserves out of dollars since at least 2003 and now holds 70 per cent in other currencies or gold, a former senior state banker was quoted as saying. --

I read recently that Russia has signalled it's intent to move it's oil trade over to Rubles.
I've been reading a lot of stuff on the newsgroups recently about one nation after another starting to offload dollar reserves gradually so as not to precipitate a collapse while they still hold I guess.
Items about the new NAU currency the AMERO are also becoming more frequent.
That the dollar is in free fall is not in doubt and maybe this is a prerequisite for the introduction of the AMERO. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan.

Cheers Brian, that article is also quoted in this one.
Debut of the 'amero'
By Judi McLeod

The People's Republic of China, long lauded by America's enemies as the world's next economic power, will be the country that will force the creation of the `North American Union' (NAU).
Kofi Annan's former pointman, Canadian Maurice Strong, has been boasting from Chinese soil that China soon would be replacing America as economic king, using the jingo that's the official language at Turtle Bay.
The billions of dollars China has invested in the flagging American economy will be worthless. They will have to negotiate the exchange rate to the new amero. This will then force the creation of the North American Union.
