What was the official excuse for blowing the building up?
Nothing to do with needing a suitable image in peoples' minds when most were gathered in families on Xmas day.
A late news report said it was the same place where the two alledged 'SAS' guys were held. Perhaps the controlled demolition was covering something up a la 9/11? (I've no proof, just a thought) |

TonyGosling - Yes thank you I was waiting for someone to pick up on the SAS "insurgents" who were part of the plan to kick off an Iraqi civil war. _________________ Since when? |

British military involved in acts of terrorism in Iraq
http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=200510 15&articleId=1090
According to statement of Iraqi army officer
Text of report by Iranian news agency IRNA
Baghdad, 14 October: An Iraqi army officer has said that the British military personnel and security forces were involved in acts of terrorism in Iraq.
The Iraqi officer, introduced himself to the Islamic Republic News Agency [IRNA] as Fayyadh Mas'ud, and said: The evidences at our disposal cannot be denied.
He added: Investigations show that the British Army's explosives and equipment were used in several instances of bomb blasts in Baghdad.
Mas'ud said: In this connection, the Iraqi authorities have asked for explanations from the British officials, but so far they have not given any clear answer.
Terrorist operations in various districts of Baghdad and other regions have turned Iraq into an unsafe place and thousands of civilians have been killed so far. However, America and Britain repeatedly say that their forces will remain in Iraq until full establishment of security.
Political analysts believe that America and Britain are undermining security in Iraq in order to justify their own presence.
The Iraqi officer did not provide any further explanation on the British involvement in the terrorist activities in Iraq.
At the same time, some news sources unofficially reported that several British nationals and Iraqis, hired as mercenaries by the British, have been arrested in connection with the recent explosions in Baghdad.

Rescue of SAS men who were planning to place bombs in Basra City Square
In earlier reports, we focussed on the operation of two undercover British SAS operatives, dressed in traditonal Arab clothing, who were planning to set of bombs in the main square in Basra, coinciding with a religous event.
They were arrested by Iraqi police and subsequently "liberated" by British forces in a major military assault, directed against the Iraqi police authorities with tanks and armed cars.

http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?context=viewArticle&code=200509 20&articleId=972
The matter of what the SAS operatives were doing was hushed up.
No investiigation was carried out.
This and other incidents suggest that the bomb attacks on civlians including suicide attacks are in fact covert intelligence operations to trigger divisions within Iraqi society, while at the same time weakening the resistance movement.
There is, however, a growing awareness among the Iraqi populaiton that the occupation forces rather than Al Qaeda are behind the attacks on civilians.

In a recent report (October 12):
"A number of Iraqis apprehended two Americans disguised in Arab dress as they tried to blow up a booby-trapped car in the middle of a residential area in western Baghdad on Tuesday. Residents of western Baghdad's al-Ghazaliyah district told Quds Press that the people had apprehended the Americans as they left their Caprice car near a residential neighborhood in al-Ghazaliyah on Tuesday afternoon (11 October 2005). Local people found they looked suspicious so they detained the men before they could get away. That was when they discovered that they were Americans and called the Iraqi puppet police."
'Rogue' police officers seized in Basra
By Thomas Harding, Defence Correspondent
Last Updated: 12:35am GMT 24/12/2006
A senior Iraqi policeman who allegedly masterminded the abduction of two SAS soldiers last year was arrested yesterday following a major security operation in Basra.
Under cover of thick fog, 800 British troops in tanks and armoured vehicles swooped on the home of the policeman and six other Iraqi officers.
Military sources indicated last night that a substantial blow had been struck against the rogue militias who have been responsible for killing hundreds in Iraq's second biggest city.
All the officers come from Basra's notorious Serious Crimes Unit that, as one military commander said yesterday was a "pretty appropriate" name for its activities.

Tony, you are absolutely right ot make the connection between false flag terror and this widely reported 'Christmas present' to the long suffering Basrans. One does wonder who they were springing and what evidence required obliteration/removal. The official story simply flies in the face of logic - why mount such a huge risky and expensive operation ostensibly to protect criminals from rough justice? To win Basran hearts & minds?
I think not.
I bet some of Lord Levy's gang were in that jail. Anyway here's my own research into the shenanigans. Note the mysterious death of the official investigator into the first bust.
