'Sky high' terror threat to Tunnel

The Channel Tunnel is under threat of attack from Islamic militant terrorists over the Christmas holiday.

The plotters are thought to be Western European - possibly Britons of Pakistani descent - and the "chatter" between militants has been observed as "not so high since 2001", it was claimed.

British and French security services either side of the Channel are said to be on high alert.

Details of the plan were revealed in a French intelligence report which was presented to the French government, according to The Observer.

The newspaper said US sources described the threat as "sky high".

The report also claimed that al Qaida style operatives were planning a "wave of attacks on an unidentified European country, planned and run from Syria and Iraq".

It said the period of greatest threat ran from September 2006 to April 2007.

On Friday, Metropolitan Police Commissioner Sir Ian Blair said the danger from al Qaida terrorists represented the gravest threat against the UK since the Second World War. He described the threat of an attempted terror attack on the UK as "ever present", and of an "unparalleled nature and growing".

It is also worse than the threat posed by the IRA at the height of the Troubles, he said.

But Sir Ian insisted the police had "no specific intelligence" about a Christmas plot against the country.

so they have no specific intelligence? obviously they dont.
you would'nt claim al qeada are planning attackes , give a period and a possible location as well as previously claiming 30 something terror cells and then expect people to believe you had no intelligence on any of them if you had a brain. i take it they are just having a lucky guess?
you need to know what/who the terror cells are to beable to count them for example or is that just a lucky guess also? they tell us this stuff and scare us then say but we dont really know we have no specific intelligence. they dont have specific intelligence about lots of things im sure, why not tell us about other stuff that might happen but might not because they dont have specific intelligence.

The only way we can stop this from happening is giving them more money and power.
