This company sell really competetively priced products, and they're very efficient as well.

Also DVD burners (internal) are now REALLY cheap as well!

What I would like to know is how to download a DVD quality documentary before burning to DVD.

I have thought about copying WMV files on to CD

(a) I think the majority of people would have Windows Media Player
(b) the memory for 1h30min is approx 120Mb so you can get more documentaries on to a disk.

opinions?

As far as I know you need to convert most files in order to play them on DVD players. Programs like Nero will do this for you. However, the size of the file increases and required a DVD to fit the data on to.

Some DVD players are now capable of playing DIVX files, but my current opinion is that we need to make sure that ANYONE will be able to play the videos, and that means DVD format either PAL or NTCS (Nero etc do this for you).

which DVD-quality documentaries are you after?

sometimes searching the title of the doc along with 'DVDrip' will help find it

I generally apply your principle of cramming more docs onto a DVD and compress them to a slightly lower quality.

What I want to know is where can I get some really good and cheap burning software? Yes you can get cheap burners but they often come without software.

Cheap burners here: http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/cat/Optical-Drives/subcat/DVD-RW-Drives

You can find NERO for free on many sites. It's not the best but it's easy to use and efficient.
