Hi FixUpLookSharrp, just to let you know that a few weeks ago some of us, myself included, on this forum were in e-mail correspondence with one of the editors of the Guardian, and my impression was, reading between the lines of the correspondence, that there was some degree of understanding by that editor. The problem is that we do not, in this day and age, seem to have media reporters and senior staff who have the balls that the likes of Woodward and Bernstein had during the days of Watergate.
However, I really do believe that there is a small, albeit very imperceptible, shift these days. It is indeed a bit of a "cop out" to print articles done by "third parties", rather than one's own opinions or interpretations of the facts, but I do believe that things will start to break over the next couple of years, and then we will see these media "gatekeepers" start to come out of the woodwork. Oh yes, it's easy to be bold when the masses agree. |

If they start another war they will close down 'debate'. If they dont and they want to pull out troops they will bring to light alternative news stories.
What they will never do is allow truth to surface to the light of day. For journalists and the media are now totally embedded with the system.
Whatever they do they do it with utmost control, delay real news until it has become totally common logic and play games.
Loose Change was first viewed by millions BEFORE the handful of Guardian editors allowed it to be reviewed.
Someone did once say the 'revolution will never be televised'.
They forgot to add, news will never be reported... until everyone already knows about it. |

i tend to think that the media are well meaning, however over worked, need to adhere to crazy deadlines and in the process have become slightly deluded.
Its the same with politicians, they go in with good intentions then come up agains teh system and just do not understand it, and hence go for the safe cop out.
To say theyre all working against us is a bit far me thinks

I'm inclined to say you're on to something- they reported on the WebCameron thing in a very sly "sound just mocking enough but get some points across way", you know sort of drop some of the best quotes in there but act like you're doing it ironically.
Let's hope, with time and continued pressure they could be the first to actually devote an artical or comment piece to it without mocking or "disrespecting the victims" and "copnspiracy theorist" rhetoric...
Well one can dream anyway... one can dream... _________________
