I could not agree more. Media control was a prerequisite for getting away with blue and white murder for as long as they have. We must not relinquish the internet. _________________ Belief is the Enemy of Truth www.dissential.com |

Good point Anthony.
I watched the infowar piece yesterday on the claim that Iran is the source of the Iraq IEDs.
The film showed pictures of some mortar rounds and some "devices" that are alleged to be in use with the supporting narrative that they are being supplied by Iran.
The film then showed Iran's Revolutionary Guard marching and pictures of the current Ayatollah.
Case closed. _________________ The Medium is the Massage - Marshall McLuhan. |

Anthony you raise a VERY IMPORTANT point.
You have rightly determined that the overcentralised media which offer a very narrow (unrepresentative) bandwidth of opinion - are at the heart of the problem. (see "Orwell Rolls in his grave" DVD).
Thank God / Allah / Buddah / Shiva / Random Chance etc for the internet because its potential for democratisation is huge. I am sure the police state moguls would wish it were not the case.
However what we need now is strategies to redistribute the media so that there are once again many voices, and many Choices.
I don't know how we can achieve this. For my own part - as a Graphic Designer - I create designs that people can use as posters leaflets flyers etc. I offer them freely - and want them to be shared freely - but only ta all non-profiteers. You can Download them if you go to...

Just open each image fully, then right click (on your mouse) and select “save picture as” – to keep / share and print them. I hope they prove useful…

Quote: | Rupert Murdoch is the Virus Devouring the Soul of Western Democracy
A. Alexander, February 13th, 2007
Historically speaking the United States, United Kingdom, and Australia have a lot in common. Yet, their shared history pales in comparison with their contemporary commonalities. And none of their more recent shared characteristics are more revealing than these:
1. Their leadership is the most committed to the continued war and occupation in Iraq.
2. All three country's leaders are highly unpopular with their respective electorate.
3. Despite the devastating political consequences, all three leaders in all three nations continue to ignore the will of the people they supposedly represent and fiercely defend and, at least in one instance, insist upon escalating the war in Iraq.
Still, perhaps, there is one thing the three nations have in common that is the single most important and defining contemporary characteristic: In each country the Australian-born mega-media mogul, Rupert Murdoch (FOX and FOX News), controls a large portion of the so-called mainstream press. But it is more than that, the Australian Murdoch CONTROLS a great deal of the information being disseminated to the electorate of each country.
In democratic societies, media information is power. The press is the means by which people obtain the information that they use to decide who they will, or will not elect to lead their nation. In Mister Murdoch's media world the U.S., U.K., and Australia are all being led by the candidates that he and his media empire have endorsed. Interesting, too, that all of Mister Murdoch's "boys" are roundly rejected by the people they are supposed to represent and yet, feel no need to submit to the wishes and desires of their respective electorate.
Thanks to Rupert Murdoch's propaganda media, these so-called leaders no longer have to concern themselves with the people...Murdoch's media empowers them with just enough legitimacy and political cover to make them almost relevant. Indeed, the Australian Murdoch's support makes Mister Bush, Blair, and Howard just relevant enough to make them extremely dangerous to the democracies they represent, and, too, the entire world.
The politicians tucked safely beneath the protective arm of Rupert Murdoch's propaganda media, never have to worry about paying the full political price for their failed policies and corruption. They can rule in Roman Emperor-like fashion, without impunity.
Some say Mister Murdoch's politics and global propaganda network simply supports the Conservative political view, but his brand of politics is Conservative in name only. In essence and practice it is much more devious, dangerous, and stygian. Rupert Murdoch's brand of political media is much more akin to a lethal virus that, once unleashed upon a nation, devours the very soul of its democracy.
With little more than a passing glance, as if the invisible hand of Lucifer were at work, one can see that the democracies in the U.S., U.K., and Australia are being torn asunder. In each nation, citizen has been pitted against citizen and the onetime elected officials have begun to treat their people less as co-equals and more like their personal serfs.
And the common thread weaving through the death throes of these three great Western democracies is the Australian-born Rupert Murdoch and his mad propaganda media empire.
Without question, Rupert Murdoch is the single greatest threat to western democracy. The man must be stopped and his global propaganda network dismantled and sold off to national, regional, and local media concerns. Once Mister Murdoch is taken out, national and international laws must be passed to prevent worldwide media monopolies from ever again forming. |

Names that we are given at birth do not necessarily represent our identity , only officially.
Its not important what are our names are, the content and and the depth of communication is what really counts. |

I think journalism has always been the same and the only difference is it is harder to pull the wool over peoples eyes now, because of the internet.
In the old days, you had the newspapers, then the T.V, which is a control merchants dream.
a) Because it is one way communication, with only a very controlled letters section for example.
b) There were a fixed, controlled amount of papers/TV/Radio channels available, so it was relatively easy to direct all info in a controlled fashion.
Spin and lies is nothing new, just it was very difficult to find out about it, then work with like minded individuals if something was unearthed.
The internet has blown this all wide open. Any old nutter can set up his own new portal now and everything is under a massive communities scrutiny. Everything can be checked, cross refferenced and double checked without even having to leave your seat.
Of course there is huge potential of disinformation and almost cult like behaviour now. Overall though, this most people (never all) realise this and hopefuly this snowballs into people being even more careful with ANY information they recieve. Some may think that means paranoia can set in and it can, but at least people really are thinking about issues and coming to their own conclusions.
The biggest trick now is to not be taken in by the most clever spinners. Stick to looking at the cold hard facts and not become a groupie of a certain personality and you should be O.K. Doesn't mean you can't be wrong, but hopefully everyone now can pick up a paper and recognise blatant spin and bias.
I can't watch the news on T.V. anymore, without spotting blatant propaganda. Fox truly is a painful experience, but then so is the BBC on a lot of occasions.
We live in interesting times. |

The only time I pick up a newspaper is to light a fire
